[NASL] Day 1-5 - Page 89
Forum Index > StarCraft 2 Tournaments |
Yesterday's broadcast has had its issues. We all saw it. There are 10+ pages of whining. There is an entirely new cast going on now. Please keep whining about issues experienced yesterday to yourself going forward in the thread and allow other people to enjoy the games.

Maybe vulgar for some of our kiddie peers, but I think a lot of people appreciated it. Actually I think it has more to do with the level of maturity instead of their age or it could be that they think it is a bad fit. I thought it was entertaining, but I do agree that it was wrong for the NASL. The NASL is trying to come off as very professional in their broadcasts, and WCF just doesn't fit.

I will speak on behalf of it being removed from future broadcasts. 2. This was a mistake. It's really really bad. I know the NASL is upset about it and will fix it. There is no way to go back in time.. but please know we are sorry. 3. Maps were updated. There is no legitimate argument for using the outdated maps. That too was a mistake overlooked by not consulting the pro players of the squad (me and gretorp). It has been rectified. Some inside info: The NASL isn't a bustling studio of 30 people. It's 5 production people and 2 commentators. We are hiring out professional help for the sound (after the problems) we consult pro's on the stage etc... but we are not some huge broadcasting company. When people say "mistakes like this shouldn't happen.. you need to watch for mistakes!" They do. They do the best they can. A lot of these guys are running off of 4 or less hours a night. Encoding, editing, doing graphics etc.. all each day after this schedule. Do they want your sympathy? No. No they do not. Do they expect better results than what we have produced? MORE THAN YOU KNOW. Nobody is more pissed than Russ and co after each mistake. This is the first week. None of them came from a broadcasting / league background. All of them are chasing a dream and trying to do it to the best of their abilities. When we make mistakes please tell us with all of this in mind. If you STILL feel the need to say "FIRE X" or "THIS IS FUCKING TERRIBLE" then I guess go ahead and do that. I get to wake up in the same house as these people and watch them go at it for another 16 hours each day. It is absolutely unacceptable to make these mistakes and they will not be made continuously. As they happen they get fixed asap. In the end it makes us better. We were never planning on 1 season so we have time to fix these things. Ideally, would they never have happened? OF COURSE. Is it possible to have caught these faster? CERTAINLY. But we didn't and we are sorry. Please understand the sheer effort and work that is going into this. This league is growing and it has growing pains. It also has amateur mistakes and huge errors. All of which will be sorted out as they come up. Well said, I'm also going to quote this in the hope that more people will see this and calm down. Mistakes happen I still <3 NASL these games are great. Thank you for working so hard to bring us these games.

You are admitting people are only human and mistakes are to be made. That is the start to find the issues and resolve them. I don't see you or NASL making any promises they can not keep and so far you have addressed issues with stream / sound and commenting. All of those things have improved. Just continue to focus on things that can IMPROVE the NASL and keep in mind you can not and will not please everyone. If you need help I bet there is 1000+ people here willing to help in any type of capacity if we can help. Only things I can list off hand that is truly just nitpicking on my part that are issues. 1. Stream randomly going offline 2-3 times per night. 2. 30-45 minute opening every night is a touch too long and causing you to lose viewership 3. No Feedback / Report Issue button on side of the player to send email to NASL / Justin.tv with issues / suggestions. On nasl.tv page in reference to this comment.

I'm glad to hear the intermission'll be addressed, as well as the map issues (I've really been feeling that there needs to be some kind of consensus by the major tournaments on picking a specific map version - not sure if that'll ever happen though w/o some kind of player's association or the like pushing for it) - and I do hope that production continues to improve. It's been disappointing to have so many issues, but I suppose that may be due in large part due to being spoiled by the GSL & European tournaments - hopefully we can catch up to them soon in NA ![]()

Yeah sometimes it's ok, but right now NASL needs to take some heat because they are fucking up, and they won't improve unless people light a fire under their ass. Do you seriously think that NASL does not realize how epically they failed with streaming game 3? They don't need hundreds of people screaming APOCALYPSE to realize they made a mistake. So yeah, chill out, laugh about it, fix the mistakes, stream good games (in the correct order LOL!), move on.

I think most people are learning some hard lessons from MLG and NASL. Don't pay for a product until you know what the product is. Please stop. I really get annoyed with all this extremist language. It's not even the end of the first week yet and people are STILL getting top quality games. yes there are issues but they are being fixed as fast as they can (usually the next day). I really get annoyed when people assume 25$ is wasted because the first week wasn't perfect.
