lol... You just made two statements that contradict each other.

You don't have to live in NA during group play... so yea. One week every three months.

Don't see where I contradicted myself.

Isn't it awesome that they can then play in both GSL and NASL? What a wonderful world we have

I wasn't aware that group play wasn't LAN, pretty terrible move on NASL's part but whatever.

You contradicted yourself your here. By saying you don't want to see koreans dominate then it has everything to do with skill. Not sure what you don't get about this.

I said skill is a factor, but not the only reason at all.

This topic is obviously too hard for a progamer that doesn't have to actually worry about winning to understand. I give up. /whitepower

I hope MVP, nestea, and MC get accepted and destroy everyone.

If NASL bans koreans I think it would make our community look terrible and I am embarrassed that its even being debated.

GSL is definitely incredibly hard for foreigners to go and play in but you can't say GSL hasn't done a ton to try and increase foreigner participation. They reserve 4 invites for top foreigners for the code A tournament. They allow any foreigner regardless of skill/accomplishments to play in the code b tourney. They are flying people out for the world championship and even set up a foreigner house where people can come to korea and stay rent free. They have not tried to force non koreans to learn korean or be part of the korean community.

After what GSL has done it would be really sad if the biggest western tourney in history didn't have koreans simply because they were too good.

Skill should be the main factor. If you want to make a name for yourself as a top player, compete in smaller leagues. Look at HuK for example. Until then, the biggest leagues should be for the best players in the world. Sorry that it means a lot of players like yourself can't compete, but that's an unfortunate result of not being the best in the world.

You seem to want funny and entertaining players over good players. Cool, go watch a sitcom.

I love this. With Korean threat , we can weed out half hearted "pros" with those who really have dedication and passion for the game and i hope NASL will cater to the latter.

I've argued that the league needs to have players that people can relate to, and I still stand by that point. However, that doesn't mean Koreans should be excluded. They create a massive amount of hype that is beneficial to the league, and raise the overall skill level of the league.

It's completely naive to believe that based on the application vids, that the Koreans are going to NASL just to make a quick buck. Do people realize how difficult it is for most East Asians to speak English? Even reading off a piece of people takes quite a bit of effort!

Furthermore, the NASL idea is completely new to us, and we shouldn't assume, based off the vids, that the Koreans invited to the league are just boring folks who can only play sc2. You can't predict how they will interact with the players and community here, simply because such a thing has never really occurred in the SC scene! It's absolutely the right choice to give them a chance and see how well they fit into NASL's goals.

Take a look at the SF scene. At the beginning, quite a few players didn't want Japanese players to play in American tournaments and "take" the money. But at the end it was the correct decision. Not only are the Japanese players extremely talented, they are actually cool people, who can do things to really pump up the crowd, like this.

Lastly, I'm pretty surprised that these comments would come from a player who has a teammate living in Korea and training with Startale.

so all we needed to do was submit 60 seconds of jibberish? shit i read the requirements wrong...

Do they want to integrate and level out the 2 scenes to form one? Or do they want our money? We need to use the opportunity to let our foreign scene grow so that we can be at the level of the scene in korea. I don't believe this is the right place for them.

They are obviously the best in the world, but i think inviting them into the league will hurt it more than help it :O

sure u can add a couple good koreans to see if we foreigners really can keep up, but i doubt they named it the North American Starleague so that it could become another korean tournament.

Saying you don't want any Koreans in the NASL may not be fair, but you've made it quite clear that you want to limit the number to small few. Dismissing people who disagree with you by calling htem obnoxious and ignorant is disingenuous to those who have legitimate arguments against what you're saying. And your "joke" didn't really seem like a joke. You just came off as an asshole.

If koreans are not allowed to participate in the event because they will dominate then with that logic might as well prevent the likes of Jinro and Idra to join since they compete in the level of Korean programing. If you will let non korean players who are GSL vets compete in NASL but not let koreans in .... then something is wrong here.

How does the NASL plan on preventing cheating? It's easy for players to say they'd never cheat, but when 100k is on the line...?

It's not hard to hop into vent with a friend that nobody knows about and he can just directly feed you what's going on while he's watching the stream..

VT hasn't held a tournament in ages.

I much prefer to watch MLG than GSL. I think that's a valid comparison.

They are going to have to make a commitment also. They would have to come live out here for the season just like foreigners are doing in Korea. You're argument makes no sense. Just admit you don't want them in the league because they are superior players.

What? Two things:

Just practice more, or get crushed, which will happen. Put 14 hours a day, everyday, or get swept by the koreans. That`s it my dude. If you`re scared, which you are, it`s no one`s problem. Oh, it won`t be boring for the spectators to see some dudes get utterly crushed.

I mean Wow. The so called pro players here in the west dont have the winners mentality. No beliefs. No balls. No guts. It`s like when white america forbid afro americans to play B-ball and american football....because instinctively the knew they were fucking better than them. Let`s segregate untill we`re descent enough to not look bad!! YeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeY.

If i`d be playing more seriously, i`d definitely want to play a Korean player right away. That`s the competitive side of me. That`s the winner`s mentality. You just dont have it. We dont need players like you in such a serious competition. You belittle the whole thing with those comments. Sad stuff indeed.

Really? Would you like all 50 chosen people to uproot their lives and move to California for 3 months? Having all matches played at one lan over a long period of time is a logistical nightmare that the GSL does not have to deal with. America is not like Korea in that most things are centered around one major city.

You don't understand, they still have to commit time and practice. If you think they're not going to practice for this because it would be a free win then I've lost faith in our foreign players already.

I think MVP/MC/July/MKP/Nestea would 9-0 (8-1 at worst) the group stage without individual preparation. I thought that was kind of a given.

I think if foreigners practiced their asses off it wouldn't be a givein. The reason they're so good is they practice hard. If foreigners learn from IEM, the Ace 10-0 will never happen again, every game he played was fucking risky and was based on the fact that the players didn't know what to expect.

What the fuck is going on in this thread? O.o It;s already been stated with certainty that koreans are NOT being excluded from the NASL. This has been known for a while now.....

Further more, what on earth makes the GSL and NASL exclusive? What makes it so that they can play in one, but not in the other....The posts on this last page just make by brain hurt.

People expect perfect English from Koreans that have spent their whole lives in Korea? Absurd. The Korean application videos were wonderful even if all it means is that the Korean players are interested in whats going on outside of Korea.

Can we please, for the love of starcraft, STOP all these stupid pissing contests.
