There was one void the entire game :S

Just thinking, if I remember rightly it was Coca who beat Rainbow in the Zotac finals with an unexpected Hydra bust. Seems like he might have a few interesting twists on Z play

The zerg was NEVER behind in that game guys, I think you're confused by Tasteless misreading the scenario and not really understanding the matchup as well as you'd hope...

Liked seeing Z drop that much though.
Z's mistakes were in throwing away armies he could have saved. He'd have destroyed ace if he'd saved some of those armies. That attack into the Main was actually solid, as it took out a lot of tech. And that 1 Roach drop destroyed Ace's economy for a while and he really never recovered.

Some of you really don't understand how ZvP works. Zerg needs to constantly trade armies if he plays roach/hydra/corruptor. It doesn't matter if he's not being cost effective as long as he stays ahead in bases and prevents the protoss to get at 200/200.
|
Pretty much what everyone else is saying, Zerg played this match very very well, simply kept the Colossi numbers low which is what its all about, eventually you will simply overwhelm the Protoss due to your superior economy once his high hit units are gone..

Mvp is the only reason Nestea didn't win GSL4 too. lol what the hell, not sure why my SN is quoted there. Yeah, edited it wrong. Was meant for Talin. Sorry.

Toss never managed to beat that 200/200 deathball though(correct me if I'm wrong.) This is actually really smart that pros are starting to do, just keep attacking and force them NOT to get the 200/200 army.
Anyway, now I can say I thought of the baneling drop on protoss deathballs first! =D http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=188793
Yay for bragging rights + Show Spoiler +(even though he would have never have read that thread and it really had no influence :p)

Fast expand by Toss, Z will most likely Baneling bust or go Roach

(gg) It was never really a proper VR/Colossus build. Ace spent a lot of gas on sentries, stalkers and upgrades and never really built up much of a mass of voids or colossi. In fact the dual stargates were barely used.

There was ONE Voidray and no more than four colossi on the field at any time, Ace didn't have anything close to the Protoss VR/Colossi deathball. Don't talk if you didn't even watch the game.
That being said, Coco won because he was sitting on tons of resources vs. gateway units. Stalkers lose effectiveness against Roaches after that +2 upgrade is achiveved -- overreliance on Gateway units cost Ace the game.

People - P was at 70-80 supply the entire last 10 minutes of that game. The only thing stopping the Z from stomping him with the 180 supply army was the DT's. Z got ahead by constantly trading armies and denying that 4th.
Tasteless and Kelly were completely misreading what was happening. The Z was constantly ahead, all they had to do was look up to the top and check the supply
|
I feel like Ace should have done a lot more Void Ray harass and include more VRs in his army.
|
I just tuned in to the very end of that game, but how was zerg not behind when they had almost no drones and no minerals. If Ace had killed that army, he would have been in a good position, no?
|
After killing all the colossi there was nothing stopping the hydras. And hydras > pure stalkers

This is EXACTLY what happened. Toss can't kill you without collosus or HT. And he can't really invest in those when he's having a hard time keeping his gateway army because the zerg is trading efficiently.

i still dont understand how code a isnt exactly the same setup as code s that the should be groups..... then if things like getting the 2 storngest playing in the 1st round then they can still get a chance that they can qualify....
Ret and Haypro both have/had hard matchups in the 1st game. Hoepfulyl Ret will actually do it.

The toss needed to make a Templar switch, there were too many Corruptors and he really needed Templars or Colossus to deal with the hydras
