MMM[F][F]M_ _SSSSS_ZZ, where each character is one unit of range(M=marine, F=forcefield, S=sentry, Z=zealot). In this case, only the first row of marines can attack, while all 4 rows of sentries can attack the first row. Again, assuming a solid wall of forcefields, the only marine micro would be forward, which would allow even the fifth row of sentries to attack. If zealots were sent to the blank spots "_", then the second and third row of marines would be able to attack the zealots, while the protoss would deal additional DPS to the marines, which should already get killed by the sentries. As a kind of counterexample, if the forcefields trapped the entire marine army, such that they would all be able to attack anyways, then it would be worthwhile to send in zealots. This is just a theoretical model of what could happen (I know that the unit compositions are arguable), and I know that the forcefield or unit diameters may not be accurately depicted, but I feel this scenario has the general aspects of MM vs gateway units (range vs. range/melee, terrain blockers).

Day9 says "pressure while expanding", which makes sense because it makes the opponent defend while you're most vulnerable, giving you a better opportunity to get your expo set-up and defended. Tasteless, on the other hand, is saying "don't expand while attacking", because an attack is an actual attempt at dealing damage, which is mitigated by the lack of resources from investing in an expansion.

But if you invest your money in a CC before you move out its pretty bad since you invested 400 in a CC which could had been more army. Also I think day9 talk mainly about attacking while expanding when you take your 3rd+ since the attack pathern will/should defend you while you get it up with PF, turrets etc. Day[9] essentially says to move out whenever you throw down your expo just so that there's the threat of pressure, and your opponent doesn't just move out and snipe your expo. Tastosis is saying you shouldn't commit to an attack while expanding, because you'll obviously lose, due to having a weaker army.
