I don't like the fact that the tournament had a rematch for InCa and NaDa. I don't feel like winning that rematch with SanZenith really should put InCa back to even with NaDa. Say InCa won in the rematch, then NaDa and InCa are 1-1 against each other, but InCa advances never having had to play MC.

Well, it's Inca's reward for having more points than NaDa and sanZenith (from the previous GSL's). It promotes winning: the more you win -> the more points you have -> the more "lesser" players will you face.

Yup. It's not an "unbiased" round-robin. It's biased to those that have done better. 2 wins and you're into the next round, but there's a slight advantage for being in first place. (They've also eliminated the ability to throw a game to help out a team-mate or get revenge on someone, and have made is to every single match counts, which makes for a lot more tension. The 3rd/4th place games have actually been pretty good for this reason, as there's a huge advantage for taking 3rd over 4th.)

Best day was by far the Boxer group. Great macro games all around (except for hyperdub vs hongun g2). Boxer played like a boss that day, same for Hyperdub in Hyperdub vs Hongun G1

How do people still not get the format. It's been explained a million times.

Let's just put Boxer vs MC, Jinro vs Nada, Nestea vs MarineKing, Tester vs MVP, Idra vs July, Fruitdealer vs Zenio, while having san vs Hyperdub, Anypro vs Polt and Choya vs jookTo in the round of 64 in the super tournament. That would be fair to all players right? Doesn't matter how good or bad you played in the past, everyone should be equal. Oh boy...

Differing densities and growth rates of infinite functions when comparing it to other functions, yes, but there is no concept greater than infinity.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cardinality

An infinite set can be said to be 'greater than' another, but the comparison is not immediately intuitive.

For example, the set containing all odd numbers is considered the same size (cardinality) as the set of all integers.

However, as mentioned earlier, it is correct to say that the set of all real numbers is larger than the set of all integers.

The difference between the two examples is difficult to explain in layman's terms so I will not try.

If you're talking about the game screen it means MC spawned at the 1 o'clock position, NaDa at the 7 o'clock.

As for the infinity thing, how Artosis phrased it was not exactly correct, but not completely wrong. There are different sizes of infinite sets, and those are categorized with Aleph Numbers.

Was it just me or was Nada's play not very impressive at all? He basically expands a lot, makes alot of units, then attack. That works on a certain level, but when facing oGsMC, he failed miserably because MC had a much better unit composition that easily countered Nada's very basic army. And I question multiple times when he decided to engage oGsMC's army when it looked obvious judging from army size and composition that he can't take them head-on like that.

Anyway, I was however thoroughly impressed with July's games. Very strategically played, great decision making, and awesome to watch overall.

NaDa's macro is pretty impeccable. That's probably the most notable thing with him. I feel like he lacks a lot of game sense, though. Dude needs to practice more.

well all i'll say is that i'm shocked that people with mathematics degrees don't know about different sizes of infinites. it's quite an important thing to know.

Regarding the fairness of the format, you have to also consider that there is some seeding involved in who plays who in the first matches.

Currently we're seeing some great players match up against each other in the first games, but this should improve to make more consistant match ups once Code S stabilizes and there isn't so much fluctuation in terms of who performed well way back in season 1 and who is still good right now.

Correct, IncA had more points from ro8 season 1 and ro16 season 2 than Nada ro8 season 2. So Nada was thrown at the MC shark.

What about San, did he have more than Nada?

He was last.
It's 1st seed vs 3rd and 2nd vs 4th.
NaDa was 3rd in his group.

Doesn't this end up being more favorable to be the 4th seed? I don't get it. Why not go 1 vs 4, 2 vs 3.

because ranked 1-8 are 1st seed, 9-16 are 2nd seed and the rest are randomly drawn into seed 3&4 (based on the point here http://wiki.teamliquid.net/starcraft2/S-class#S-Class) not 17-24 as seed 3 and 25-32 as seed 4

thats why we have ImMVP (28) and JookTo (32) as seed 3&4 in group B and and Check (18) and idRa (22) as seed 3&4 in group F

so its just bad luck(?) for Nada to be drawn as 3rd seed where San got the 4th seed
Put quote here for readability

He's a macro player, that's what he does. Your description of Nada can be applied to Idra or Ret (except counter-attacking rather than attacking) and they're considered two of the best. His decision making is pretty good, while his first attack on MC I think was intentionally timed to wipe out all of the sentries before any Collossi arrived and it really hurt MC and likely delayed his push. MC just controlled the game. I was actually really impressed with Nada's play against Inca and Inca's first game was sick. I think if Inca improves his mechanics he could vie for one of the top Protoss spots. His build order was brilliant, and I think if he didn't attack up the ramp during the contain he might have won.
