I don't know about playoffs in NHL, but I do know about the seeds, and that's the point of everything here. The players were seeded into 'power group' based on their performance so they already got rewarded for their past performance. NesTea couldn't be drawn into a group together with MC, FruitDealer, TSL_Rain, Rainbow and other players from that 'power groups'. Same with other players, Nada already had his reward for performing better in GSL than SanZenith - he avoided being drawn together with players of his equal strength and had one place in his group being filled by a player who performed worse than him (relatively weaker player) So why is he yet again getting another, this time quite unfair, advantage over SanZenith? Once the players are seeded into a groups, there shouldn't be any connections to their past performance, they should play round robin with each other and then we would have a real, valid results. It's lame that a player can advance out of his group without playing against the strongest player in that group.

To me it's the same principle as extended series, why is more importance given to the first match over the second? If you win the first match, you are giving an advantage to that player as he has to, presumably, play a worse player. I just think it kinda de-legitimizes the tournament slightly, although as I said it's not the worst way to do it.

If everyone goes 1-1 after two games you need to play a 5th and 6th game then a 7th and 8th game to determine who is ranked what in the group. If they did winner vs winner and loser vs loser you'd prevent such a situation as whoever goes 2-0 is rank 1, 0-2 is rank 4, then whoever goes 2-1 is rank 2 while 1-2 is rank 3. Makes it so only 5 games are played per group rather than a potential 8. You are mistaken. 6 Games are enough. There will be 2 players with 2-1 and 2 with 1-2 after 3 Rounds. The ranking will be determined by the head-to-head-record.

Makes sense I suppose. Edit: I still prefer winner vs winner and loser vs loser for the 2nd round of matches as it avoids the issue entirely and the person who one both matches gets a slight break.

I feel like the tournament is fair if it meets the following criteria - A - Players are aware of the format and setup prior to the event with enough time to know the rules, the details, the tie breakers, and bring up any glaring issues. All the players are aware of the format going into the GSL... there are no mysteries. I think this happened with Code A where players complained about BO1 and it was made BO3. B- Players can control their own destiny. What I mean by that is, if you win you keep moving on. It would be unfair for example if a player could go 3-0 and not advance. I don't feel sympathy when players lose and then have a tougher time advancing. Simply put, win your games and you move on then the format doesn't matter. If you start losing then you might be at the mercy of the system. C- There are no obstacles that would prevent a player from advancing, although it is acceptable for advantages to exist especially if seeding is involved. So higher seeding getting easier path, bye rounds, map selection, less games, all ok. Lower seed not being allowed to use their mouse for example, not good. Playing BO7 TvZ with all games on Steps of War... not good. Now whether or not you do or don't like the format, or feel that players have to great of a disadvantage are a different issue. But quit saying it isn't fair, nothing about this system is unfair. Just sick of hearing people cry about fairness, probably the same people that think every kid should get a trophy and dodge ball shouldn't be played in gym class.

Nestea was pretty much always going to get 1st in this grp so that isn't. Fou all seem to be solid so it's cool to see one advance I suppose.

Well 1st game of Nestea the terran tried bunker rush but Nestea defended and it turned into a macro game. Rest of the games were macro games or attempts for ones (what is it when BOTH players keep killing off their own armies into enemy tank lines?). There was at one point in TvT an all-in, but that was because the enemy terran had just got an expansion up (and all-inner was still on 1 base + his banshee harrass failed miserably).
