Kyrix didn't all in at all, he even played a macro game. He wasn't unprepared for the banshees, he held them off with queens until his mutas popped. Sure he could have microd his queens better, but that's splitting hairs. I think it's refreshing to see an aggressive Zerg player. I'm tired of watching games where the Zerg just hold off attacks until they get a max'ed army. Being aggressive while expanding is not all-ining, I'm sorry. Agreed, he was a little unprepared for banshees tho. However, boxer played a mind game with that 2 rax opening, he even did have some pretty good overlord scouting, but with boxer's building positions he was unable to scout the starports. No one can really blame him with that. Also, for game one his decision to counter attack won him the game. It's so pleasant to see someone that has "attack" flowing in his vines. Comparing to TheWind who never seems to be able to make up his mind, kyrix is so much more entertaining to watch.

I heard only great things about Ret and I cannot wait to see him in GSL3. However, at the moment, it's too early to put him in the same level as Kyrix, who is S class and even in this tourney showing it's no fluke. He took out Ensnare and Boxer pretty one sidedly.

At the moment it's probably too early to put Kyrix amongst the top tier, but his play has impressed me so far. I think our perception of who is the best will change after GSL3 regardless. I guess Nestea and Fruit have to be considered the two best Zergs at the moment. In the second tier I would put Kyrix, Zenio and maybe Check. In the next tier I would put Idra/TheWind and then there are a whole lot of players who may or may not prove themselves in GSL3, namely Ret/Sen/Moon/July/Leenock etc

I guess we agree completely then.

I'm tired of watching games where the Zerg just hold off attacks until they get a max'ed army. Being aggressive while expanding is not all-ining, I'm sorry. Count how many games he played last season where he would expand, make a handful of drones and then just pump nothing but lings, banelings and roaches and try to kill his 2 base opponent. Of course that's all-in because if you don't at least cause severe damage you're way behind and lose. It's not even particularly impressive aggression that he does. When Foxer was splitting his marines with incredible micro, how often did you see Kyrix splitting his banelings? And yesterday against Ensnare he was just throwing banelings away, wasting 5 at a time killing empty bunkers and shit. He doesn't play a defensive macro game because his mechanics are garbage, just keep an eye on his resource count, even when he has barely any drones (which is almost always) his minerals skyrocket. Apart from having a fairly unique and aggressive style (which is facilitated by the current balance of the game) I don't see anything he does well compared to the best Zergs out there. I'm not a fan of Idra's ultra defensive, pure macro style of play but then I don't like Kyrix's style of spamming the z and b keys and right clicking on his opponent's base either. Long term, for the good of the game, I'd like to think somewhere in between the 2 will yield the best results and guys like Kyrix will be left behind.
