Nothing I saw at Blizzcon made me think Loner was legitimate threat to win GSL, but he could definitely get pretty far.

idra fighting. So lets say players of high caliber like Nada and Boxer play against Idra or Cool and get demolished. Not even a close match... I guarantee you that if zerg players keep going muta/ling/bling against Terran, none of the games are going to be close un You're already wrong. Did you not see Cool vs Boxer at Blizzcon? Boxer put a lot of pressure on Cool and it certainly wasn't one-sided. Cool even said afterwards he was "lucky". So if Boxer can give the GSL champion a fantastic game after far less practice,(and lets be honest we can't be sure Boxer is going to be great at SC2 we KNOW Cool is great already), then the current state of the game is not nearly as bad as you're making out. I do agree with some people that late-game ZvT might need some looking at. But until Terran players learn to macro/harass properly we can't be sure. It's not a case of "just do anything" for Terran now. It's like in starcraft1 again where you have to hit specific timings and exploit small weaknesses. And before you say "but you're a Zerg" I've actually switched to Terran recently because I like the match-up 100 times more now. It's so much more epic and scary as Terran. What??? When Boxers pressure failed (btw he pressured because he had to somehow stop Cool from macroing) and the game went on to the mid game, Cool ran him over. It wasn't even close. Boxer couldn't get his 3rd base up on LT. He got demolished dude. he should have and i believe would have won the second game if he had scouted the gold going up earlier. He invested economy in an attack and failed so yeah the game got hard, but even then he did well. There IS an alternative to fast attacking, it's called macro. It's not Boxers style but there are plenty of good macro builds such as getting a CC in your main straight after the first marine.
Not many terrans are going to want to macro against Fruitdealer after the GSL1 finals.

We saw some very very solid play today from both Nada and Idra. SanZenith just failed epically giving Check a free pass to the Ro16.
Nada and Idra both displayed extremely good macro with proper pressure and contains. Their opponents couldn't break the contains enough to not get completely outmacroed and lost. They didn't get over eager, they didn't let up and they played a consistent disciplined game with great control over their units and the map leading to very well deserved wins.
I am looking forward to this caliber of player meeting in the later rounds.
Unfortunately for Loner and as much as I like his play I don't see him beating Nada after watching today's games.

There's a tendency on TL to rank Idra as the best/2nd best SC2 player in the world without him ever actually having to beat anyone else in the top 20.
We'll know how good Idra is when he faces other top tier players but these previous instances of massively hyping him following strong results against foreigners/average Koreans has often ended in disappointment

BAM knocked out in the first round.
I applaud idra for making past ro32, but I doubt he's gonna get far in this tourney unless his brackets are going to be as easy as his past 2 rounds. You are hyping the koreans as much as everyone else hypes IdrA.
the koreans can actually back up for their hype however.

Beside that he claims that had the 2nd ranked acc for quite some time, which was foru's so he gave it back when he left CJ. (at least i remember him saying so in an interview)

Yep, sSKS has certainly justified his hype as the best Protoss in the world with his failure to qualify.

Why can't we just sit back with our feet on the table and feel our heartpumping for our favorite player. Instead of this massive imbalance qq shizzle always going on.

Good games today.
Someone got Grackrolled.

wow HQ VODs up already - they really stepped up on the encoding

TvZ NaDa vs Leenock who defeated Suhoshin in the ro16. The Terran Emperor will have to win his ro32 and ro16 to face off against NaDa in the r08 for a spot in the semi finals.

Remember IdrA has been practicing SC2 longer than anyone else and he's had the experience of MLG/IEM which they simply don't have. I mean so far we haven't seen anything to suggest he's as incredibly gifted as Cool but certainly at the moment he deserves to be mentioned in the same breath as the top Korean players.

61.
Just sayin'.
And, on top of that, considering the ratio of foreigners to Koreans that can actualy 'go' to the GSL, that's pretty impressive on the foreigners.

I tried reading LR, but it makes no sense The first game was on Jungle Basin. Gon delayed idra's natural with an engineering bay. Gon pushed in with 4 marines but retreated without doing anything. Gon continued producing marine/tank with 1 thor and pushed out. IdrA had muta/ling/baneling and rolled him. Second game on Xel'naga, IdrA one-bases roach until about 30 food and is unable to bust the front (Gon scouted and built a bunker). Gon's hellion harrass was ineffective, and the game progressed again into marine/tank vs muta/ling/baneling. IdrA waited for ultras and it was gg.
he never got muta/line/bling in the 2nd game...not sure where you got this from.. it was pure roach/ultra

Wayyy too much foreigner hate. Maybe it's possible that the reason why such a large number of Koreans qualified in a KOREAN tournament in KOREA where most of the people participating are KOREANS is because a large number of KOREANS who signed up for qualifications as compared to foreigners

When did this thread turn into Korean vs Non-koreans? Can't we just forget about nationalities and just enjoy the games? Lets look past race and just treat each player as individuals.
