Thanks Karliath for the great tourney! the one suggestion/request i have is the make the Ro32 Bo3. The first game i played was being streamed to like 50+ people and my hands were literally shaking :p, nerves got the best of me and was out before i even knew it .
Also i think maybe we could split the tourney over two nights, and try to at least have the finals casted to add to the "epicness".
|
Duncan, no worries. Thank god it was right before I was about to move in when you DCed XD My throat was really dry too so I was able to drink the orange juice I had next to me :-)
And about the time thing, as much I would like it to be two nights with the number of no-shows Karliath had to deal with, I wouldn't want him to have to deal with them for a second day. Sure it's later in the tournament which gives players more incentive to show up, but no-shows happen and to have it last two days would be hard on Karliath.
But being up until 4AM my brain was so fried I had to ask Karliath if I won game 5.

Congrats dishong! Glad I lost to the winner.
As for the tourney, a BO3 in the first round would be a great idea, just so people can get over some nerves.
Also, I'd like to receive any "epic" games for our cast if anyone would like to send them. Thanks! Im really looking forward to the next one.
|
Thank you for hosting this thing, I think this is an awesome experience!
I think the first round should be a Bo3 to just for if the person is new to the tournament or is extremely nervous. It's a shame getting knocked out for a nerve mistake.
|
I had a lot of fun in this.
I won my first round, but I had a lot of nerves before it too. I think round 1 being a BO1 gives an advantage to people who have done it before.
The only issue is time, because it went so late, it might be necessary too make round 1 a BO1 to deal with this.
Anyway, I will definitely do this again if I am not plat by then.
Shame there are not many plat tournaments, even compared to gold tournaments.

I'd still really like to see the replays from the finals. :o
|
Thanks for the tournament, I had a great time in this tournament, ultimately ending at the semifinals.
I don't know if it's possible to start this tournament a little sooner because for those of us on the east coast, we have to stay up very late to play in the later rounds.
Also, my situation may be very isolated and I doubt it can be really be accommodated for, but every match I played in this tournament was a ZvZ, which made me sad.

Would you still like to cast the games? :O I'm not sure about all the other games, but I definitely want the finals to be casted. If you want to do it, I won't have to

The thing with making the first round a Bo3 is that the whole thing will take too long. In addition, if there are no shows, it's much "cleaner" to give people with no opponents a bye with a Bo1, than it is when it is with a Bo3. It's less of a wait for them, and I feel better for letting someone through for skipping 1 game, as opposed to a possible 3. Most tournaments I know start with a Bo1.

Yeah, definitely. I hadn't even thought about that.

The first tournament was meant to be a test run only. Also, you can't participate in this one not because you won the last one, but because you are in platinum now.

D1s0ng won, as can be seen in the brackets. The finals will hopefully be casted, sometime.

And those who've done a rising cup in the past, but are still gold, have they truly "risen", and would it really be that big of a deal to let them compete again? :/ But yeah, I would like a replay pack of the finals, and preferably the tvt epic ever-matches that held us up as well. (and to Mission and Dishong, I apologize for my comp BSoD'ing 2x, and I understand completely why I was not able to be allowed to continue observing, due to the delay of game it caused.) Furthermore, perhaps a losers bracket with a bracket build towards a 3rd and 4th place game might be nice for the players who lost in round1 to the best of 1 setup, or maybe considering making round1 a bo3. I won my first round, but I still thought it was a bit scary of a setup. Furthermore, maybe considering allowing the games to go multiple nights so we're not up till 2am+...
I do intend to make a RISEN Cup, but that will be a long long time in the future. In addition, making sure that everyone attends will be a bit of a hassle, but we'll see.
I don't want the same person to keep wining the money over and over again. To set a limit, this makes it easier.
I don't think I'd be able to handle multiple nights The only way I could do it is two Saturdays. But that seems too drawn out, imo. Still, at least the casters would get to cast everything.

The last tournament had 200 viewers (the stream was actually posted on TL), and the finals were casted. This time, the amount of no shows really slowed down the whole process.

lolol yeah, you were like, "did I win?" But yeah, I can't really start it earlier because dinner time cannot be altered in my family setting > .

Mm sorry about the ZvZs, that was just bad luck I guess.

In order to deal with the multiple night, Bo1, etc. thing:
Lol, I know what. Are you all familiar with Quantum Computing? It's arguably the best answer to the problem of a amximum limit to minimization of computing, thus creating the problem of a maximum processing speed. For instance, you can't practically make something smaller than an atom, well, under today's understanding of physics. So, there is a lower limit to size, thus creating a maximum limit to processing speed. (E.g., we may be only be able to compute things at 1 exabyte per second, and no faster ((kilo, mega, giga, tera, peta, exa, etc.)), and I pulled that number out of my ass, not necessarily the reality of things, just a best guess of mine.)
Essentially, rather than taking the time to do several sequential "if this, then that" statements, all possible "if this's" are done simulataneously. Afterwards, a search algorithm picks the appropriate string of if then statements, following them to their logical end, thus very quickly coming to an answer via parallel processing.
I think it would be interesting to do every possible combo of "if so-and-so wins that round, and I win over here, we'd play against each other, and since our first competitors are still in a game or were no shows, we'll go ahead and play, and if it so turns out that we eventually do meet each other, the victor has already been determined."
Furthermore, this would require blindness to the brackets, otherwise we may be like, "Well I lost to Bob in what would have been the final, so why try in the bracket beneath that which would determine if I would haveeven faced Bob to begin with?"
Perhaps with such a Quantum setup, we could also allow for a winner to be determined more along the lines of an algorithm based upon wins and losses, and against whom, and how they do against others, thus determining who gets to go to the, "SC2 Superbowl," so to speak. Idk, it might be fun to have a seasonal setup, over multiple days/weeks, allowing for games to be saved and casted while replayed over the interim days between "game nights".
Just some thoughts.
And yes, I am insane. :D

Are you talking about swiss style? Where everyone plays a certain number of rounds and then the person with the best record wins?
