Also like you point out, how are you supposed to commentate games like these were 1 player is just dominating the other? It's possible, I've seen him do it in one game where Jaedong just crushed Flash with 2 control groups of mutas back in BW.

Great production value, shitty server-side stuff. Thankfully the seemed to have fixed almost everything for the second series (Maka's), which is good prospects for the following casts. I look forward to Monday! As Integra said, it's kind of a blessing in disguise that they had server load troubles, as that means a ton of people want to watch. It's what you would call a "high quality problem". ![]()

Like I said, though, they had the HQ stream fixed by the end, so I look forward to proper HQ soon :D The LQ turned out not too bad, anyway, when the streaming-quality issues were fixed.

Should ring a bell atleast a little when you knew it's their FIRST time casting a event like this. It is international so there will be alot viewers. Like they can test their service beforehand when they cannot know how many people will tune in? Every tournament has problems at start. That is a fact. The only thing here is, they either can fix the problems or keep failing like they did back in BW. Should've learned their lesson by now. Except its not like it is their first attempt, that is what people think and are telling me. First impression is important, and I hoped they had got their act together with this deal with blizzard, but no, they suck as usual when it comes to streaming. PS, stop with the namecalling, manner up.

man, you must be really REALLY supportive. the only way i could possibly make myself believe it would have been money well spent was considering it a charity thing. in e-sports we trust! in every other regard this is such an insult to the customers...crazy...how can you spoil gomtv that hard?! ps: why would i install the gomplayer if i can just use vlc instead? beats me...

So many people watching their broadcast, so many people visiting their website at the same time. There is always problems. They cannot know for sure how their system will and can handle the unknown amount of people there will be tuning in. And yeah, sorry about that.

The level of players skill are a tad disappointing but I'm sure this will get better in the latter tournament as more people gain more experiences playing SC2.

We need less serious commentary, and more of this stuff: (WOW. Watching that video again blew my mind. Today's commentary was so, so, sooo horrible compared to what Tasteless used to be capable of. There'd be at least 7-8 moments every game when he'd make me burst out in laughter. In today's commentary, I actually started feeling bored near the end. Terrible, terrible damage.) Why don't casters understand that we watch their streams partly because we are entertained by their typically hilarious commentary? When we want to analyze and improve our own game-play, we prefer to watch replays, listen to long-winded analysis from our favorite players/analysts, etc. We like that. But, when it's a LIVE event, we want to sit the fuck back and watch the streams as though watching television - we don't necessarily care about learning in these occasions, we just want to yell in excitement or laugh our hearts out - we want to be fucking ENTERTAINED. Tasteless, if you are reading this, next game you cast, just say whatever you want and whatever pops in mind. Talk about hot Korean fan girls. Tell Artosis you want mansex. Etc etc. We will love you for it.

But both are phenomenal casters, the first casts in a tournament are always a little off. i guess im alone when I say "artosis did a better job" ???

First of all the stream stabilty was terrible i think i switched like 50 times through the TL streams in theese few hours. Not mentioning the quality watching SC2 in LQ is really a turnoff. The games were below average and Tastosis casting was well .... bad. My conclusion : Not worth watching but probably gonna tune in when Idra, TLO, Torch, Artosis will be playing.

Yeah, there certainly have been problems like this before in similiar tournaments. Somehow, the problems always were in tournaments hosted by GomTV, though.

Isn't it weird that the organization arranging a major sports event also manages the video broadcast? Isn't the norm that they just sell the rights to someone else? And then those parts arrange the payment for the service any way they usually do with either subscriptions or commercials. Seems to me that this solution would be even better for online shows than it is for "real tv". On the topic of the games: I liked them. Not particularily even but that's what you should expect - it's the top 64! I can't think of any sport where even #8 in the world would stand a chance against #1 (however, I can't think outside the box of athletics).

Im a little curious, how do you know it is impossible to make a smooth start? I for one, believe in dedication and being well prepared, and yes, I believe gomtv had plenty of time and the experience to make this first event go smooth. They could take a look at many other events to monitor and estimate how many was watching MLG and IEM. If GomTV throw money at the problem, that would be a start, I feel they where holding back and was too shy to give us a smooth start. Bottom line, I think they where too afraid to pump money into this event. But money they want, oh yes, preferable 50dollar a month or more. And that is the impression I am left with, sadly.
