My wife's friend is staying with us for the next week and she's sleeping in my office on an air mattress, which is where my PC is. My laptop is a Mac.
Is it possible for me to login to my account now (or VNC in once it starts), get the URL for the HQ stream from GOM, and then use that in VLC on my Mac? From what I have read, GOM Media Player doesn't work for Mac currently. They said there they are working on an iPhone / iPad app for the live events, which will be awesome once it comes out. But as far as viewing the HQ VODs on a Mac, it works totally fine since it is browser based. On a side note, holy shit this event is amazing. I stopped playing BW so early (02 maybe?) so I never really got into the progaming side of it. But with SC2 I have been loving it and was blown away how great of a presentation this was. Totally worth the 20$ in my book, I don't know what all this complaining is about. Agreed. This shit is worth 20$
Only people that complain are kids who think everything on the webz should be free.

I actually found myself wanting to buy it, just 20...its like 230pesos... but i don't really have much free time, so i won't be really watching many games.. the problem is that since the games are about 4am i won't be getting to much live view and i would only be able to watch game 1 of each match from the VODS...
I think i'll end up buying XD

It's ON !! I bought the 20$ service and watched the VODs, I think the opening ceremony was very well done, all in all nice and entertaining. Mike Morhaine, suffering of jetlag, or maybe drug abuse, felt like he was quite uncomfortable reading his text but anyway its nice to see him in person, that means that regarding esports they have BIG plans, as well as BIG money.
About the games:
+ Show Spoiler +1st game I'll say IDRA FIGHTING !
2nd game To me it started to show that some koreans are still keeping insane strats up their sleeves so I can't wait for the ro16 and beyond.
All in all I think that we haven't yet seen insane micro and tactics but hopefully in the next days we'll get to witness some uncanny skills display.

I just don't understand how that Toss player in the second game made it that far. He was absolutely horrible.

For those with access to the vods, in the Opening Ceremony vod at the 26 minute mark what's the group called and especially what is the song called that they perform? The only words i recognize from the song are "Baby what you see".

It's called advertising... One of the great things about the Gomtv SC1 tournaments is they were a great introduction to SC1 pro games for everyone even those who don't play SC, Tasteless mentioned this several times, this was due to the English commentary. Later on Gomtv implemented paid HD service but it was still free to watch it normally. Now that it's paid can you honestly recommend watching this tournament to most people?
I'm curious do the Koreans need to pay? There are are Vods of the game with Korean commentary on youtube, but I can't find it in English. Which is fine, but I would prefer to hear day9 instead of Korean commentary like usual.
Also if you watch it live I assume you don't need to pay right? Hopefully they'll make it so the Vods are watchable by everyone at a later time at least.

Its really shocking to compare the poor quality of GSL/GOM so far with this thread. I think it must be the bright lights and jerky camera work that gets people all worked up. Some people are easily impressed. Do the pyrotechnics really do it for you?
I hope they get the technical issues worked out in time for the competitive rounds.
Like a few people have mentioned already, if opening up the LQ stream made the HQ stream inoperable, they shouldn't have done it.

I asked this earlier, but one one answered me, how are Artosis and Tasteless using a US CLIENT to broadcast the game, if this is on Korean b.net where you can only connect with a KOREAN CLIENT.

Blizzard has provided English clients that work in Korean Battlenet

The difference is apparent when you watch the IEM, or MLG Raleigh. For the western SC2 events, the most impressive thing you see is two attractive girls that escort the finals participants on to the stage. At the GSL, there are pyrotechnics, a freakin stadium, live concerts of some of the most popular bands, etc. A Starcraft event in Korea is infinitely more impressive. Hell, the only sporting event with a band in the US is the Super Bowl.

5 hours til the next game, I wonder if I`ll have the strength to wake up....

There's a schedule on the GOM website, but they don't list the specific times of the matches (just the date). Where did you get the information on the match start time? o_0
Also, will someone be making a 'day 2' thread for this tourney? ^^ NesTea is the one I want to see the most .

Ah ok, thanks.
I simply based myself on the fact the gomtv website says that the stream would start in about 5 hours when I click on low quality stream link.

So let me get this straight , you gotta pay to watch the VOD`s ? pretty sad.

The GSL is simply a marketing tool for Blizzard to promote SC2 in Korea. Anyone that thinks Blizzard is trying to promote "E-Sports" with this tournament is grossly mistaken.
Blizzard/GOMtv could care less about providing a tolerable viewing experience for a Western audience because it simply doesn't matter to them. SC2 is already huge in the West, but Korea has yet to embrace SC2 in any significant manner.
Why would GOMtv/Blizzard allocate significant resources to please a Western audience when their focus is obviously to cater to a Korean audience?
I wouldn't get my hopes up for any significant improvements to the stream quality moving forward.
If anything, I'm satisfied and quite frankly surprised that GOMtv caved and provided the West with a semi-watchable stream of the event.

Heya quick question...is there a place for me to find a playlist of the songs that were played in these games? I just got done with Day 1 (the IdrA games) and some of the songs they play in between matches are pretty awesome! Where can I find a list? Is there one?

I cant stand Artosis because he cant leave his race bias behind. He can watch reapers or marauders take down a nexus very fast and say "what a great drop" and fantastic play which both happened yesterday and then he can watch void rays fail to take down a command centre and say "void rays do soooooo much damage you simply charge them up etc etc". Its tiresome to hear when you play Protoss.
He will name drop a player to put across a point he believes like with Nony and phoenixs "being strong versus terran" or his favourite "in korea they think" lead in to justify his own personal bias and I dont know who he thinks he is fooling but its incredibly annoying to listen to.
Tasteless I wish he would step it up a bit he seems to be trying to cast to an audience of starcraft newcomers when he is casting a stream that is largely a paid for one and if you have got to the point of paying to watch a Korean competition then I think you can safely assume we know what all the units and buildings do. I liked listening to him and Daniel on GomTV before though so I know he will get better.

Every caster is like that lol
Marauder drop? - "Ohhhhh look at that excellent drop in the enemy base"
Void Rays? - "Ohhhhh those void rays just do SOOOOO much damage when charged.... shame"

He also criticises the skill needed to use the units though like oh you just have to right click phoenixs and they autoshoot for you and void micro lol.
