Go read the GB/MLG forums and ask around. Not gonna hijack the thread anymore just letting people know that MLG is not reputable and you need to be very careful to document any winnings incase it comes to legal action.
Email me proof of your winnings and if there's a valid claim I will resolve it. My email is sundance (at) mlgpro.com
It's not PR BS - it's a fact - we pay all winners who fill out the necessary paperwork.
On to the topic at hand - We are extremely excited to be able to partner with Blizzard to bring fans SC2 tournaments. Raleigh will just be the beginning. We've got some big plans for players and fans alike.
Thanks

I made over $1000 in a series of tournaments for a different RTS and I didn't get my money until after I contacted the BBB, the NY AG and the FTC. Even then it took 8 months when I was told 30-90 days. I have a friend who is owed over $1000 for CoD4 that never got his money.
Take MLG's participation with SC2 with a grain of salt. They are not a reputable company. Don't be the guy MLG had to handle here: http://shoryuken.com/f7/g-m-m-e-orlando-florida-usa-vs-japan-$5000-sf4-june-4-6-2010-a-212102/index21.html#post8812620

Well now that Sundance and Adam are here, can I talk to one of you guys about casting with MLG? Or anything else for MLG?
Seriously. I need a job, I'm made of time, and will move anywhere in the States. x.x

LOL at entire MLG staff jumping on the bad press. Great move by MLG, i've been a long time MLG follower and the events are always well setup and run great (at least what you can see on the live streams.) I hope we get to see the best players though, it would be a shame if it ends up with a bunch of randoms where you can see that players like IdrA would steamroll them (although i do not expect IdrA to come to america for 5k 3-ways, he might in the future.)
Yes, it will be first come, first serve. So make sure you are online when the passes go on sale to purchase it right away.
Also, as for the 32 cap, Clap has already said, that if it fills up quickly, MLG will take a look and see whether its possible to raise the cap.
read this on TL btw

I'm not here to call you a liar. Far from it. I gave you my email. Please send me relevant information and I'll get it taken care of for you. My response to you was not meant to inflame.

I'll pile on.
Hello TL community. Been a lurker here for a long time. By way of intro's, my name is Lee Chen. I was the President and a founder at GotFrag.com, which as some of you know, was acquired by MLG in 2007. Prior to that acquisition, GotFrag, under my direction used to run editorial pieces repeatedly on leagues and organizations that didn't pay out. We never ran one on MLG. Why? Because MLG ALWAYS PAYS. One of many reasons that we joined MLG. That certainly hasn't changed since I've been there and remains a core philosophy of the company.
Sundance and Adam have put their contact info up there for anyone with a complaint. It _WILL_ be resolved. Period.
Back to the topic at hand, I've been working on SC2 and adding it to the Pro Circuit along with Adam and Sundance for a couple of years now. Can't tell you how excited we are to be able to announce it and the details that will be coming up. Very excited to be Blizzard's Official NA Partner for SC2.
As Adam says, 32 spots is what's open for the first event. We'll see how it goes from there, although we are very much aware of how popular this game is. There's a whole PC division here at MLG that has done nothing but drool over SC2 since it was unveiled 2+yrs ago.

Hi Sundance and crew. Fantastic news to hear you're embracing SC2 in North America. MLG fighting!

Fair enough, and I hope you guys fix your credibility problem, I just don't want to be told you guys are "laying down the truth" when I have a factually accurate story (no idea if that guy is associated with you or not, but he has MLG in his tag as you do and did post something inflammatory).

Haven't they seen the potential exposure they could get from the HDH? This should be bigger. HDH wasn't a LAN event. True, but my comment about exposure remains unchanged. HDH got hundreds of thousands of views. It would be a good to MLG if they got just a reasonable fraction of that, but without top players and big money it's not gonna happen. They're wasting a big opportunity, IMO. I think at least some of the bracket should be invites, for the really great players and then have a qualifier, much like the GG invitational. edit: bah I keep double posting sorry.
$5000 in cash is definitely bigger than the HDH already so...
And inviting players would destroy the whole point of an OPEN tournament wouldn't it? True, 32 slots and apparently first come first serve isn't ideal, but hopefully they work something out to make sure the truly talented even get into these "qualifying rounds" for the sake of the spectators for these events. MLG can use SC2.com to see if the player is AT LEAST diamond. But if they open up slots that might not be necessary. As every participant is money to MLG anyway. Maybe with more participants the cash prizes can be bigger. Who cares if some KNOWN top player has to grind through the RO256 who are a bunch of bronze players. They don't even have to be casted or shown in any way. Who knows we might get the next TLO out of this (believe it not, there was a point where no one knew who he was).
This isn't in any way, shape, or form comparable to the HDH. A lot of the views attributed to the HDH was the commentators popularity on Youtube. Razer King of the Beta tournament all had invited "big name" players too, and it got only a fraction of that. Many many tournaments during beta all had the same "big names" but did not see similar success. So I would not say inviting players would be the key to getting views.
Not to mention that this is for the most part a North American event. A lot of players in these beta invitationals don't even live in the US. I don't think winning would even pay for their expenses.
