People complaining about good players not getting a pass should first show MLG that 36 is too low and that they should have a bigger bracket (by making those passes sell out).

I'll send all of it to both of you. Will we get to see your epic curly 'fro on the live MLG stream if you make it? :O :O :O :O :O On July 31 2010 11:32 Megalisk wrote: OOoo this is exciting news..I hope they come to Texas :D. They seem to go to Dallas every year Anyways, my thoughts, great thing but I think it needs to be expanded, MLG is a 3 day event so this tournament could easily be a 256 person tournament, or if you are going to do 64, 32, people, start up an online qualifier system, where the final 8 or 16 people from 4 different qualifiers get to privilege of signing up to go to the event. PS: Guys realize its 5k prize POOL, which usually is awarded to the top 8 people. In fact all their events pay the top 8, so when you're trying to convince idra to join in, he'll probably lose money by flying to the EAST coast of the usa, even if he gets 1st place lol

I bet that the first place prize would more than cover the cost of the trips.

Top 8 get paid, if its as stated "over 5k prize pool" i'm guessing it'll go something like 2500 1500 1000 700 500 350 250 200 somewhere in that sense, because they always pay top 8 people, so the first place prize is about the price of a round trip ticket from south korea.

Do people really want qualifiers for the qualifiers? This. I'm going to play in it (or at least try to) since I live here in Raleigh. I'm by no means one of the top players who everyone has heard of but that doesn't mean I can't play.

A bracket this size is only going to prevent good players from participating considering there are many more than 32 names that could compete for a top spot. I just don't understand why this tournament would be limited to 32 players on a first come first serve basis. That's the real killer, Bunch of noobs thinking they are MLG pros. I wish MLG would expand to Canada ..

That would be great, but this is just not how MLG operates. Please realize this event has been planned for other games (Halo, Tekken, WoW) for quite some time (and been successful) and that Starcraft has just been announced to join the Pro Circuit. Certainly with growth things will change and how they go about operating things will be different as well. As people have posted before.. Look at this as a sort of test run to see if it is a worthy business decision on MLG's behalf to take in Starcraft
