Ok glad that SC2 will be given the attention it deserves, mlg is mostly about console games, it should shine a light on this game to console gamers oblivious to Starcraft

Im glad to see MLG apply its style to SC2. I think the starcraft community is too used to sitting at home watching some random invitational, which is fine but I also think open live events are awesome.

People complaining about good players not getting a pass should first show MLG that 36 is too low and that they should have a bigger bracket (by making those passes sell out).

That being said, if anyone would like to apply for the MLGPro.com SC2 (written) Content and Coverage team, send me an email. Be sure to include your contact info, a brief summation of your history with StarCraft and why you'd like to be a part of the team. Any relevant writing expierience is a plus.

I run all the online content for PC titles on the MLG Pro Circuit and definitely want to put genuine enthusiasm to good use

Email: nbee@mlgpro.com

Video audition guy, be sure to use small words when you email Adam.

Well I already love you guys for even replying to this, so I know what I'll be doing tomorrow: resume revisions and an audition reel. I'll send all of it to both of you.

Will we get to see your epic curly 'fro on the live MLG stream if you make it? :O :O :O :O :O

They seem to go to Dallas every year

Anyways, my thoughts, great thing but I think it needs to be expanded, MLG is a 3 day event so this tournament could easily be a 256 person tournament, or if you are going to do 64, 32, people, start up an online qualifier system, where the final 8 or 16 people from 4 different qualifiers get to privilege of signing up to go to the event.

PS: Guys realize its 5k prize POOL, which usually is awarded to the top 8 people. In fact all their events pay the top 8, so when you're trying to convince idra to join in, he'll probably lose money by flying to the EAST coast of the usa, even if he gets 1st place lol

id love to but its not really worth flying to the us to compete with 1 good player and the 30 randoms who got into the que first

Well then the $5000 prize pool is just easy money isn't it? I bet that the first place prize would more than cover the cost of the trips.

^ no.

Top 8 get paid, if its as stated "over 5k prize pool" i'm guessing it'll go something like

2500
1500
1000
700
500
350
250
200

somewhere in that sense, because they always pay top 8 people, so the first place prize is about the price of a round trip ticket from south korea.

What do people mean by qualifiers? This IS a qualifier, the final 32 or whatever will go to Las Vegas for the championship. Do people really want qualifiers for the qualifiers?

This.

I'm going to play in it (or at least try to) since I live here in Raleigh. I'm by no means one of the top players who everyone has heard of but that doesn't mean I can't play.

To any MLG representative, can I ask what is the reason for a bracket of only 32 players? A bracket this size is only going to prevent good players from participating considering there are many more than 32 names that could compete for a top spot. I just don't understand why this tournament would be limited to 32 players on a first come first serve basis.

That's the real killer, Bunch of noobs thinking they are MLG pros.
I wish MLG would expand to Canada ..

I honestly doubt they will keep the 'best players' from playing, no worries! And MLG came to Toronto in 2008 :D

Actually, since Idra is sponsored by CJ Entus they would most likely pay his way to play in this tournament if I'm not mistaken.

I understand them wanting to be able to charge a lot of money and have open registration but they should have at least 16 invite slots for the tournament that have automatic entrance and reduced cost.

That would be great, but this is just not how MLG operates. Please realize this event has been planned for other games (Halo, Tekken, WoW) for quite some time (and been successful) and that Starcraft has just been announced to join the Pro Circuit. Certainly with growth things will change and how they go about operating things will be different as well.

As people have posted before.. Look at this as a sort of test run to see if it is a worthy business decision on MLG's behalf to take in Starcraft

CJ is also not stupid and won't represent him on a losing investment evne if he wins.

The more tournaments we have, and the more people we have that sign up for the tournaments, will directly influence the amount of people we accommodate at future tournaments. Show us how bad you want the extra slots for Raleigh and buy them out in 30 minutes, then we might have some more news.
