Show us how bad you want the extra slots for Raleigh and buy them out in 30 minutes, then we might have some more news. After seeing the initial response and level of enthusiasm for this tournament I wouldn't say that 5 minutes is impossible. With the official partnership between Blizzard and MLG just recently announced, suffice it to say that more than a few decision makers will be watching the numbers when registration opens.
Nothing would be more awesome than to just flat out stun them with the response. MLG is an organization that is receptive to all feedback and criticism, this is only the beginning

Take MLG's participation with SC2 with a grain of salt. They are not a reputable company. Bullshit dude. Anyone who says that is a complete liar and sundance himself said show them how they owe money and they'll pay you back with evidence. Also what do you mean well-known the only people who think that are people on SRK because of EVO 2005

I applaud your efforts to get sc2 recognized more, but i see most games being like TLOwnage.

Uh, you're talking out of your ass. I've been a member of GB (owned by MLG) since 2003 and have over 3k posts on the boards there. It is literally community consensus that MLG isn't ethical when it comes to their tournaments. I've experienced it first-hand and have 7 years of experience with the community I'm speaking about. How many times have you been owed over $1000 by MLG? Please share your personal experiences.
Go post what you just said on the GB forums and EVERYONE will laugh at you. Make the thread and link me, I'm waiting.

So what is MLG? Wiki says strictly US league. And seems to be mainly FPS-oriented. Hm. Congrats, I guess. edit: Oh, I see that it's going to be for US SC2 scene something like OSL and MSL in Korea. That's quite nice. It would increase the quality of the whole NA server and international events, as US top players cap will get higher. I wish it was not US restricted though.

You're being a tad ridiculous. I asked you to email me so we can get your complaint resolved, but I have yet to receive anything from you. I would think you would be more worried about money you are owed than complaining on a forum about it.

I posted this on the MLG forums in reference to the 32 passes:
"This is our FIRST ever event for this title. Halo has been on the circuit for 7 years. Let's sell 32 passes first and then go from there. We all want this to be huge (emphasize ALL), but we need to build in steps. I would love to put down a flag that says 'HUGE' every time we pick up a title and know for a fact that given a specific formula of (bracket size, prize pot, # of stations=success). Sadly, it does not work like that.
Give us time. We want to build this right."
Step #1, sell out 32 passes. Then we can assess. Right now we're all running on speculation.

Right. MLG knows what they are doing. Everyone else might want to rush into it, but this is a league which has thrived in the US for quite some time so give them some credit when it comes to their decision making. You can bet that the first MSL or OSL was not run as it is today. Give it some time and you can expect big things out of them

Sounds like some good shit. Be funny if MLG tries to short some SC players and TL rages. I could see them losing credibility really really fast.

* Passes are $60 per player
what is that usual for MLG tournaments?
|
Yay !! So cool to see starcraft ll all over the place, and its great that all these very talented stacraft players finally get a chance to win some money and participate in alot of major tournys. I look foward to seeing more MLG broadcasts . However I now demand you change your logo to include a mouse&keyboard

so
MLG = US
ESL = EU?
Korea = lol just Korea

SC2 will be as big as WE make it. Sell out 32. If the demand is there, similar to the Halo series, then we'll build.

I think people need to calm down a bit. It's the first major US SC2 Lan and MLG is testing the waters a bit. It's understandable that this isn't the be all end all of SC2 tournaments.
I'm sure it'll go well, or at least better than messy WCG qualifiers.

It is not arrogant, it is honest. We can only make SC2 as big as the community wants it to be. If the demand and interest is there, we'll scale up accordingly. Right now it is relatively new ground for us.

It just sounded like you meant SC2 ESPORTS (as a whole) will be as big as MLG makes it.
Anyways, good luck with the tourney. I hope it goes really well. I'll be watching.

Ah I gotcha. I meant 'WE' as the community + MLG. If you guys want SC2 to be a gigantic title, well we are in the business of putting on tournaments that the community wants. If you want it we'll build it (and vice versa in the Field of Dreams sense )
To address the question before it is asked...I fell asleep at 9PM EST and woke up randomly at 3AM, so here I am.

Great move by MLG, i've been a long time MLG follower and the events are always well setup and run great (at least what you can see on the live streams.) I hope we get to see the best players though, it would be a shame if it ends up with a bunch of randoms where you can see that players like IdrA would steamroll them (although i do not expect IdrA to come to america for 5k 3-ways, he might in the future.)
Yes, it will be first come, first serve. So make sure you are online when the passes go on sale to purchase it right away.
Also, as for the 32 cap, Clap has already said, that if it fills up quickly, MLG will take a look and see whether its possible to raise the cap.
read this on TL btw
He definitely said he wants to go to MLG events to compete in his interviews.
I stand correct by the man himself ;D

Lol what, I thought this was a joke? The format is terrible. Please make it at least have qualifiers or be an invitational, something like that doesn't work. And if you make it open, have like 256 slots, not 32.
