i believe its a stream on the MLG site, and you have to pay to enter the venue and watch it live.

The online coverage usually has 3 sections, the Halo 3 section (main coverage), then Tekken 6, and SSBB. Maybe they'll add another section for SC2 online to watch but I doubt they'll do it on the first event, since they just want to test run this all.

I think when you go online on August 2nd to register, you enter your CC info and buy a 'pass.' That's how they register you, as far as I can guess.

At 7pm on August 3rd you login to MLGpro.com and then you buy a pass. The passes are sold at the "MLG Store" but, the link to that will be on the main page towards the right. Have your credit card info ready because the passes will sell out quickly.

Then the Friday of the event you check in at the venue in the afternoon and you can compete.
It's not who you play, it's how you play.

Well it ensures that only serious players will sign up, so i guess sign-up money will be fine for sponsored players!! I hope this event goes well and i hope there will be live-streams!!!

I dont mind that, but 25$ to watch these games is too much. But what you can do.

Keep in mind.. This is if you ATTEND the event. It is a 3 day ordeal that you get to spectate live for $25. There are a lot of cool booths, multiple tournaments, and other sorts of things going on all at the same time. MLG also streams their events online as well for those unfortunate enough not to make it (though I'm not sure if they have confirmed a stream for Stracraft yet or what).

afaik, the stream costs 20-25$ to watch it in _decent_ quality. Since im from Europe, i cant attend the event.

This is going to be bad if we have low level diamond players signing up for giggles. Leave the spots for top players so that the games will be exciting and not one sided or passive. This is a qualifier. -_-

It's not like all of the guys you saw in KotB are gonna fly out to north carolina and play in this. It's not THAT big.

- Open Registration making for terrible players or cash hoarders making the trip.
- 32 slots? Really? That's absurdly low.
- Who is casting?
- Double elimination? What's their format for this? (3-3-3-5-7? or 1-1-1-1-1)

MLG was so pumped to make this announcement, and they made it, and if it were any more vaguely announced I would have to assume most of the people there don't even know what Starcraft is.

See you in Meadowlands..

Edit: I already know it's just a qualifier, but still it seems kind of underwhelming.

If you had bothered to read the thread you would know that they are just testing the waters and if the passes get sold out very quickly they will probably bump up the player count.

Also, future events will be larger.

The additional cost is for watching the stream in HD, yes.

Yes, as i said _decent_ quality. But if it is 10 bucks, then it's reasonable.

the standard quality, in my experience, is fine, at least for Halo. However, I don't even know if they'll be streaming starcraft this event on such short notice, or if the potential starcraft stream will be available in HD.

To be fair an invitational on the internet is a lot different than an invitational in person, though. But I still think there should be some sort of criteria.

It'll be okay though, remember when ICCUP TV League started?
