But especially so on a map like Desert Oasis because Nonys build is coupled with ground pressure that becomes much less effective on a map liek that. Multiple queens do not really help vs. Phoenixes, because you're never going to reach the numbers needed to stop a group of Phoenixes from picking up your queens and killing them. Skipping roaches, well, I don't think Nony's strategy ever relied on the Zerg getting roaches. The point of Phoenix play is to stop the Muta harass, which, combined with speedling harass, makes it nigh impossible for a Protoss to take an expansion while still keeping pressure on the Zerg. On DO, your natural is just too open to speedlings (no choke points), while your main is too open to air. Taking a third is even more difficult as it requires map control, which Protoss simply does not have with both mutas and speedlings running around. Phoenixes help alleviate that and I think a strategy can be concocted that will allow the Protoss to compete. In any case, it's either that or proxy zealots/void rays and if that fails, auto-lose to Zerg. multiple queens shut down early phoenix harrass after which zerg has hydras... u pretty much saw everything that needs to be said in Nony vs Idra why continue that discussion? I'm not intending to dismiss phoenixes alltogether but the Nony phoenix strat doesnt work any longer. Maybe someone will come up witha variation that will. But so far- It's either that or this? That's quiet a bold statement. So far the WhiteRa DO opening strat seems to be the best he just needs to have a solid follow up to it.

You mean the one that eventually resulted in him losing all his workers to mutas and then having to make an all-in push at Sen's natural that failed to make it past the spine crawlers? I don't know. I saw that game. Outside of Sen's greediness (expanding to the gold without having much of an army), it was not that close. The VR opening he showed in the EU vs. Asia match was much better since it could've won White-Ra the game, but of course that's a clutch strategy. The point I think I'm trying to get across here is that, as soon as the Protoss moves out with his blob, the Zerg is free to simply a-move Mutas into the mineral lines and a-move speedlings into the Natural, effectively transforming any attack the Protoss makes into an all-in. The Zerg then has enough mobility to swing back with his Mutas and Speedlings for a flank at his own natural. It's a lose-lose situation.

It's not like you have to follow up the early expansion with 2 robo colossus... Which white-ra did. I mean, he could follow it up with something entirely different and be in a pretty good position. I like his build as well.

Sen would have to bring an overseer with his zerglings if he wants to harass the natural. That overseer can be easily sniped by stalkers. DTs would also allow him to gain map control and that 3 Xel'Naga watch towers which is crucial in keep track where the mutas are going. Blinking stalkers would also bypass that ridiculous amount of spine crawlers. In DO, you can blink straight into the mineral line of the main. Build a pylon near the cliff of the zerg main and warp in a sentry on top to permanently forcefield the entrance of the main choke to prevent reinforcements from natural. But Sen probably would not have gone for mutas in that case. So yeah, this is all hypothetical without replays.
