Gas steal is pretty good. But I think that 4 gate is a bad follow up, because most people respond to a gas steal by going 4 gate themselves. Since he's also on one gas, having stolen your gas doesn't make any difference lol, it just delays their warpgate. That and the defender's advantage makes me surprised that you had so much trouble in defending. Pretty much the only way I could see you die is if you decided to go for 1 gate expo ,aka the only other thing you can do on 1 gas.

It's close. But this build is without probe scout. You scout with halluc at 100 sentry energy. And it's 2 sentries before any stalkers.

2 gate expo 2 sentries + 2 stalkers sounds quite weird. I think you could achieve it with :

9 pylon
13 gate
15 double gas (2 on each, rally to climb to 3 -maybe 3-3 right away to be able to afford the second sentry) -> scout for proxies
17 pylon
18 cyber
20 gate (3:20ish)
21 WG
21 sentry
23 msc (CB)
25 pylon
4:30 sentry + stalker
4:40 pylon
5:10 stalker
cut probes around 18 on minerals
~5:20 Nexus
~5:40 Robo

but honestly it's quite unsafe, you'll especially 100% die to a well executed 10 gate 3 gates. I don't know what HerO's interpretation could look like, but scoutless 2 gate expo 2 sentries 2 stalkers feels quite suboptimal, it's really unstable and should die to gateway all-ins, proxy stargate and even phoenix all-in. Not sure about this one.

Yeah, getting both geysers stolen is too much if your opponent knows what he's doing. I used to double gas steal and follow it up with proxy voidrays every single PvP I played on Habitation Station. It pretty much never failed. Since my PvT has always been my best matchup and zergs had a lot of trouble dealing with me msc expanding at the gold, my win rate at the end of the season was 74% on that map.

If you want to do 2 gate expo i suggest you do sentry (chronobost) -> stalker/stalker -> sentry instead of sentry (chronobost -> sentry/stalker -> stalker. This way you can still somewhat defend against proxy oracles. I don't really see the advantage of this build however. It's an auto lose to phoenix openings and only gets you 1 immortal in time for a 1 base blink allin. And it really gives you no aggressive options in the mid game outside of warp prism/immortal drops. I can't even recall the last time I saw a progamer open gate -> expand -> robo lately.

This is the guide we wrote back in mid 2013.

The vods are old because the strategy is old. People don't do it anymore because there are fewer sentries, and mass roach kills it. Also, the game is has changed a lot since the time this build was good, so while it can still catch people off guard, its not nearly as effective as a soul train at this time.

Basically it was a meta build that was meant to beat people who went for faster hydras and cut too many drones to be able to beat the immortal all in at the time.

Right now, if someone masses roaches and doesnt cut workers they can hold the all in because it hits quite late. Still fun but less effective than it used to be.

I've tested this. It seems better. Maybe I was wrong about the order.

How do yo guys deal with this Polt style TvP where they just completely avoid your army and kill buildings all game long? Like they attack your third and when you try to defend they just pick up every single unit and fly to your main etc.

Often times I have a much superior army but I just can't get to fight them. If I walk across the map they can do critical damage to my base and somehow make it back in time to defend too.

Ugh. I hate PvT.

You don't attack. You defend, defend, defend until colossus/storm and charge. Then, once you're set up with cannons and at least a templar at each base, you attack. They shouldn't have both ghosts and vikings in high enough numbers to beat your army if you control correctly.

It can be hilariously hard to deal with on some maps (looking at you, Nimbus) but if you make it through the doom dropping phase without taking too much damage, you'll be in good shape. If somehow you can sneak in counter harassment then you're in GREAT shape.

Yeah, I hate playing against it too. It gets so incredibly hard if you start losing stuff, be it probes, parts of your main army or stalkers. If you lose stalkers, you'll get slowed down really hard since you need to replace them or you'll be torn apart. If you lose colossi, the only timing you have to really punish them for delaying their tech is weakened or even useless. If you start losing economy, slowed down, much harder to replace stuff.

I guess as long as you can kill off chunks of the terran army (along with medivacs, preferably), it'll be an ok trade for you since they're relying on army pressure alone to keep them in the game.

It's just so frustrating to play against. You have to put up with it for like half an hour and whenever you go "okay fuck this guy I'm just gonna go kill him" he doom drops you, kills all your Nexi and pylons, and still somehow makes it back in time to defend perfectly.

It's obnoxious.

He won't be succesful if you have proper base defenses ready. It's hard to survive 'the onslaught', but in my opinion, you'll always be able to pinpoint your mistakes easily.
Rely on observers to defend, rely on 2HT + cannons per base (and I prefer having a Dark Shrine and probes ready for the base trade)

(DT's because you'll force him to lift and he can't attack your base into DTs)

I think one of the most important things about PvT is to never let yourself be emotionally affected by the match-up. On the other hand, everything you do should be attempting to make the confident terran player an emo-terran. Emo-terran get frustrated very easily.

I really like stuff like the 5-cannon natural on Nimbus. Especially when the Terran is careless. I think, if you are a massive dick to every move that the Terran makes, the small advantages in the early game will give you more opportunities to be even greater dick going into the mid-late game.

I've been struggling with not getting emotionally affected by the matchup... everyone on KR is Terran and all games are free wins, more or less. Two biggest aids in increasing P vs T performance: make phoenix instead of stalkers early-mid game + veto nimbus. P vs T is a breeze compared to P vs Z... Too much discussion about Terran.
