The huge difference between him and Zest is how they play out the game. Zest goes for a 3base allin with 8gates, 50 probes, noupgrades and 3 colossi literally every game he opens blink before robo. Parting can do that (although he prefers to saturate his third base), but he also likes to play longer games off of it and always starts a forge after his third and before his second set of gates. He used basically an identical timing to set up his storm transition vs innovation on deadwing. Also he has at least 4 more midgame builds he can use off the same opener (2 dt builds, blink allin, as well as 2base double forge colo/blink) to mix it up. Zest sometimes does a half arsed 4gate blink pressure but i hate it because imo it's not strong enough to kill people, but the transition is insanely delayed (robo and third base start at like 9 minutes). I was comparing the games of Parting to Zest vs Yoda from IEM Toronto (King Sejong), where Zest played a very similar build. Hence the question. I agree that the pre-saturation collossus/blink allin is utter crap and a waste of this beautiful opening. And I noticed the flexibility of followups aswell, especially loved the dt gimmick on overgrowth ^_^ Unfortunately I am no where near a point on ladder where I play repeatedly against the same opponents so I cant make that much use of build-disguise. | ||

It just sounds like your positioning and obs coverage good enough. | ||

My consideration now is to go for a 12 gate instead of 13, to gain an additional edge in a phoenix mirror (by starting up the production a bit sooner) and be safer against proxys and warpgate rushes. Any thoughts about this? | ||

If you want to have an advantage in stargate mirrors, i'd recommend simply going stargate right as the cyber core starts. | ||
