I find the two base mech timings waaaaay more difficult than lategame mech though, especially those people who just crank hellbats and then attack with hellbat/tank/medivac/viking before you can get enough archons, storms or colossus to deal with the hellbats. With the healing the hellbats never die.
Mech is new territory for us, we still have a lot to figure out so there will be a while of frustrating losses but we will get it eventually.
Edit: Has anyone else been facing a lot of hellbat/ghost/marauder/viking in lategame PvT? I saw it a couple times today and wow was it good (even though the hellbats were 0/0 they still melted everything). I went colossus/stalker/archon/templar but it didn't stand much of a chance. If the Terran lands their EMPs it is very difficult to fight even remotely cost efficiently, especially if they blanket the archons in EMPs. I went from being up a base and massively ahead to losing to this composition. The regular "meat" unit in the lategame army, the zealot, is completely useless against this, so that leaves low DPS stalkers or more expensive immortals (which will get EMPed), which simply don't cut it. Do you need to get air units versus this?

ok guys im high master and the only thing I really dunno what the fuck to do against is proxy 2 gate; for example i scout a 2 proxy gate inside my base, I can pull probes, but he will just cancel or build another one and I'm behind, I can get another gate but I feel it's gonna be too late or he can cancel one gate and then go cyber at home, or I can run with probes and wait for mothership core and even if I defend I get behind because of the mining time lost

Imo the most surefire way of stopping it is going immediately up to 3 gates and make zealots. You will be 4-5 probes ahead of him (you should scout his gates at like 14/15 to his 10 probes), which means you can use your econ to produce out of the additional gateway and overwhelm him within a couple of rounds of units.

In PvP how do you hold void ray pushes if you open robo. Given the void rays are 3+ in numbers

I don't know if this is like THE standard, but I really like to go into chargelot/archon/immortal. This allows you to completely demolish everything on the ground...then you just warp in a handful of stalkers/archons and lolz at the remaining void rays, counterattack and win. If you somehow don't win with the counter push, just head into storm/archon/immortal/colossus as your lategame goal.

1) try to get 2-3 stalkers out asap and micro your ass off. Pull probes to fight if scv train come 2) get sentries out and try to hold to ramp( but u need to be able to keep him down at nat!)

Hi, I am looking for a PvP stargate build/style. I have found some Wol builds on the strategy recommended thread, but I am looking for something that takes Hots into account.

Stargate openers are usually something like 1g sg expand or 3/4 gate stargate pressure - I'm sure someone can give you a supply based BO if that's what you're looking for.
Stargate can be mixed in in the midgame or lategame, tempests to deal with colossi (when opening charge/archon styles) or voids to deal with pretty much anything armored though are pretty solid vs stalker/immo/colossi and do great in mass vs everything except archon/storm, or I guess phoenix.
Generally it functions better to add on stargate units if you open gateway based styles to deal with immo/colossi.\
edit: Phoenix expands or phoenix pressure builds are REALLY strong vs the more popular gateway FEs that are being used in PvP because gateway expands depend on the MSC and sentries which the phoenix are great against and need a blind robotics unless they confirm tech early. Oracle first stargate play is also decent because it offers a bit of a contain as well as detection but not as great vs gateway pressure or vs phoenix first. Again I don't have specific BOs, sorry.

Thank you. I am looking for a stargate opening with some tips on how to hold other common openings, and maybe some insight on how to transition to the mid-game.
Thank you for your advices, they cover some points I was wondering about.
If someone has a build order and some more tips it would be greatly appreciated.

You can't get enough sentries up in time. The correct reaction if you aren't confident in your stalker micro is to wall off your ramp and let your stalkers pick units off before they break into your base. By the time they do, your msc should have enough energy for a purify at which point he can't push you anymore.

I'm assuming 3gate stargate off one base against 1gate fe into robo here since 2gate robo expand is a very outdated build. Void rays can be dealt with by stalkers as long as the numbers are low, so ideally you just need to be active with your scouting, know the push is coming (by not seeing him expand or going robo for example) and make tons of them off your 3gates. Purify also helps of course. You can't really tech to chargelot/archon as someone else posted because his push comes too quickly.
Off two bases, yeah chargelot/archon/blink stalker does very well, and indeed he shouldnt push if he's going void ray vs a gateway army.

Can I get some criticism of my 1 gate fe into 7 gate? I've attached a replay of a vs zerg 7 gate that I've done against the AI due to screwing it up too often in ladder games (sometimes I win, but I feel like when I accidentally build 10 gates instead of 7 because I forgot about 3 of them then I don't really need to ask what my main problem is).
The replay is against a protoss AI, but I've played as if it's vs zerg.
This 7 gate seems to tickle at 8.30 and hit at 9.00, but I feel like with those timings I feel like I'd be better off doing something off a ffe. My main question is, do I have the philosophy right, or should I go lighter on sentries or something?

I have no Idea how to beat mech, I played a very good game I cointained him for a while, I denied his third pumped immortal archon zealot, transitioning into carriers void ray, then i engage his army and lose everything in 2 sec, he even seeker missiled my void ray what can I do? it's unbeatable I dunno why people say mech sucks vs toss.

So for the first 2 months of hots pvp i used a 5 stalker msc rush into dt expand and then every time I tried dt's after those 2 months it got shut down(ppl defend it too well now). so I've tried a bunch of other builds like 5 stalker rush into robo into expand, same thing with stargate, 1 gate expand into robo, parting's blink build, etc.
I can't find a build that is good at all in pvp and i don't know where to look to get good strategies. I now do the 5 stalker rush into stargate expand pvp and I find it to be ok but i can never seem to win against other stargate builds or twilight, which only leaves me with an auto win vs robo but losing the other times.
I'm wondering what are your go to builds in pvp and how exactly to you play them out build order wise and how to react to different things from your opponent and how to go on into the mid-late game. I'm so lost, especially pheonix vs pheonix where I end up destroying his pheonix count multiple times but either overcommit on pheonix or undercommit on them when he rebuilds them and/or just has better ground upgrades. I'd pretty much like a blueprint of something reliable in pvp so and the ability to have a plan already thought out for what to do(for example I KNOW that I need 2 forges for upgrades, get charge, get x amount of gates, etc.). I know that "safe" builds don't exist in pvp, but there has to be very solid one's right?
