I also find some key combinations troubling when I have to take more than 1 or 2 fingers off the home row. This is really just me not having had enough practice yet, but for example, when I make an ebay which is ' m (TRM) I shift my pinky down and my index down+right. This kind of disorients my hand position. Refineries have been my biggest bane so far for some reason. Probably something I just have to work on.
Welcome to TheCore if u press ' (ä on ger layout) and after this m is it like p and j so u can press fast ä + m'' sec i made some Pictures! 1. index finger on ' 2. index finger still on ' + pinky on m 3. index finger back to p 4. and pinky back to j

Thanks ReTLoM! It's definitely true that the hand layout for ' m is close to that of p j. I just think it would be even closer if it were ; m I'll get used to it in time.

I am just wondering if anyone has any good solutions for covering up the missing windows and fn keys of the right side of the keyboard? I'd like the keys to still be usable but out of the way. Are there smaller key caps or covers you guys use? Honestly, I don't think you need to remove them. Your thumb follows shift all the way onto the / key and alt is wider than application / fn keys. My thumb is larger than the fn/application keys, so they feel distinctly different anyway. Not that you use alt a tonne. Just leave the keys in. Thanks for your reply but you are not helpful at all. I like the keys out.

...if you take the keycaps off you will have to hit the membrane/switch with your finger. So they're still usable. Otherwise you can just leave the caps on. Those are your options.

It might be possible to replace my missing keys with lower profile ones less in the way. If those don't exist. I might 3d print my own.

Good luck with that, tell me how it works out for you.
|
@FutureTrash That sounds pretty excellent. You have access to a 3d printer?!
|
If his keyboard is mechanical on cherry mx then all the 3d printing in the world ain't going to get him a lower profile keycap.
|
@JaK One of my friends has one. I just ordered some lower profile key caps I'll see how they work out first.
@Spooge Do you have any reasoning behind this? You are just trolling now.
The top of my switch is about 1/8 inch from the base. The end of my cap's switch hole is about 1/4 inch from the opening. There is space that can be reduced. The switches don't need to be pressed down, only covered.
Even by just changing the top of the cap to a dome shape, it would be providing more clearance than a traditional cap.

Hi, I've been taking notice of the core for a while now and a question came to mind: how much has the core changed since you started creating it? I know that it's changed a lot, and there's a lot of information about each new update, but I was wanting to know how much in general. Anything from button changes to assigning the rapid fire function. Just wondering

I got a deeper question for jakatak:
The core, Chamaleon, and other keyboard layout projects that you have made take tons of time ...
As time means gold, i wonder if the time you spend on this kind of projects leaves you some gold.
If not, boy, in a software company you could do some for sure.

@Guestex Fortunately I've got the whole story recorded
@Quecosa They have taken up tons of time. My first year of work in eSports (May 1, 2013 - May 1 2014) was funded by me. I cut my expenses, sold everything I owned, and walked to work for a while so I had enough money to survive for a year without any income. I took some donations towards the end of that year and got some work doing social media management and writing articles for starcraft2strategy.com and casting games on YegaliskTV. That lasted me for a couple of months, and things were looking like they were coming to an end. It was at this point that WCS was coming into effect and my casting job got squelched out because we couldn't get enough viewers anymore. Yegwen (of YegaliskTV) and I decided to take the project in a different direction and start making a backlog YouTube Videos for a channel called Tutorial Central that we just began to release 2 days ago. We have a proper company with backing from an investor that is down to help us see if the project will work (and keep me fed clothed and sheltered in the meantime). Basically if we can prove that this model has potential for significant growth I'll keep working in eSports full time, creating content. If not I'll be looking for a job and continuing this sort of thing in my spare time.
You think I could get a job in a software company? I got no programming skills

Hey just wondering is that picture/diagram of the hand on the keyboard corolate correctly or did you make that for a special case? Cause im color blind and the one on the main article I can't tell the difference between ring and pinky finger!!!
Also I was wondering is there any advice/ additional tips that i could use to get more used to this? I am playing the sc2 mini game and I am mainly having trouble with using my pinky i feel like i have no control over where it goes aha, like the keys that i think i should be pressing i just sort of have to mash with my pinky to get them because of this weird angle and what not, I guess this is just getting used to it thought .
Also trying to get used to location binds and control groups, are there any mini games for that or am I missing an option in this mini game? Or?
Thanks in advance, it's really awesome to see you guys giving back to the community to help noobs like me get an advantage! :D :D

Speed is a byproduct of Accuracy.
Whenever you find you are having trouble with something, do it slowly and accurately until its perfect, and over time your speed will naturally increase without you even thinking about pushing it. That's my #1 advice for learning in general, and its definitely true about learning TheCore.

Darglains Micro Trainer has a couple of games, one has two marauders running around separate diamonds each being chased by an Ultra. There's a lot of back and forth there.

Hi Sixtus! You ready for the LotV Campaign keys?! They're gonna be crazy probably

Thanks I'll definitely be taking that advice should this project fall through.
