Yeah it does the same for me - at first, i was like WOW! This is so useful for harassing zergs with warpprisms and 26 warpgates behind me warping 26 zealots in his main in less than half a second! What is this crazy thing? :D

Hey hey pink! Pros have been using rapid fire for a long time now. It is not a hack, and it is completely tournament legal. If that changes I will most certainly be taking rapid fire out of TheCore, however, for the time being (and the foreseeable future) it is not. It also, does not break the Blizzard ToS so you're fine on that front as well. TheCore for Dota 2 I do have my own personal version of TheCore for Dota 2. I'm in a super time crunch currently, but I'm down to make a separate thread to discuss hotkeys for Dota 2 where we develop the best version of TheCore for Dota 2. I'm just beginning my Dota 2 journey so I'll need a lot of help on this one ![]() Daniri A nicer way to phrase your question would be, "What is the logic or consistency behind the Zerg upgrades? I can't seem to figure it out." This assumes that TheCore community over the past 1.5 years has probably thought of a reason for every key bind to be where it is instead of assuming that there is a lack of consistency. I realize this is nitpicky as fuck, but whenever I see an opportunity to improve the communication on this thread I try to point it out. The Zerg upgrades have the following logic/consistency: (using ZRM as an example) All speed upgrades on J All energy upgrades on I All other passive upgrades (hydra range) on the key that produces the unit (whenever possible*) All other active upgrades (neural parasite) on the key that casts that spell. The Spawning pool cannot have the upgrade adrenal glands on the same key that produces the zergling because that is already J which is used for the zergling speed upgrade. There are a few small examples like this but for the most part we have found that this set of rules creates the best balance between consistency/logic and speed, as we believe a small sacrifice in speed is warranted in order to speed up the process of learning TheCore a bit for something that is only pressed one (at most) per game.

I was assuming J was for the first/only upgrade as that's how it mostly works out. If I remember right past versions also mostly had O as the second upgrade. If I is for energy upgrades shouldn't Pathogen Glands be that instead of J?

Daniri- Holy shit you take criticism well, I was prepared for some backlash. Thanks for being awesome. Yes, in the old versions we just did the best keys, but we found that having a consistent pattern lessens the time of learning and the frequency of mistakes so we chose to use this method for upgrades. A player will only get them one time per game, and its more important to get it right, than to get it 400 or so milliseconds faster. ![]()

I've been playing on ZRM for a bit now and overall it feels pretty good. But making queens absolutely can't stay on "K". It's just awful, in intense situations I end up with loads of queens when I want to make roaches instead. It there any other good key that you would recommend? Think I'll just put it on "M" or something, since I don't need that key that much and it's pretty easy to press with the pinkie. Is there any particular reason why K was chosen for queens? Thanks, hope you'll think about changing it <3

I've been playing around with other options for all the bindings on the hatchery, and moving queens to (period) works great. I've changed cancel to F5 and F8(sometimes my muscle memory still hits F5 cause it's the same relative spot where escape used to be on the left side of the keyboard. I've also moved overlord drop and speed to F9 F10 so I don't hit them by mistake. I might move burrow to F11 or something too, but I haven't found myself researching burrow by accident yet, so we'll see.

That's an interesting, idea as there is a fair amount of consistency but also very fast keys. Hatchery upgrades are definitely being considered for a change, but again, that won't be going through until January. Thanks for sharing your ideas ![]()

I suggest moving make queen to U. It won't conflict with any of the unit control functions and it's out of the way enough to not accidentally make a queen while still being accessible. @Dasian I've been using JIO for the upgrades for two months now. It's great, fast and no conflicts. @Jak TheCore visualizer no longer works properly because you can't get past the demo screen.

I searched a bunch of files for the word beta and found one, but deleting it did not work. If anyone has any ideas, I'm all ears: https://github.com/JaKaTaK/thecorevisualizer

I like the phonetic approach used by the game as it lets me create an association. Easy. TheCore was never intended to be easy to learn. You learn by using hotkey trainers and starting off with simple strategies and building up the muscle memory. Come on, man. From the OP: 5 Stages of TheCore

You can't have both. | ||
