Happy Birthday Hancho!
Also, welcome Pink Hope you enjoy TheCore. Definitely get on a hotkey trainer if you want to learn it fast! :D

I have a question why does * key on nordic layout (PRM) bind to turning the camera angle, makes no sense why i would ever use that.

@Pink What Lobotomist said. We have included as many functions as possible in TheCore, but everything is prioritized. Camera rotation is on one of the slowest keys in the layout, and does not take preference over any necessary or important functions. Having the rotate camera there is much better than leaving the key blank

I think its maybe just my keyboard, i have it inbetween - and shift so i basically misclick it every time since its in the middle of the layout :p ill just have to reassign it somewhere else

Jak, sadly the Multitask trainer is only available for Terran. I have not played for a long time, but if i catch him online i will ask Darglein's brother about it.
I find the Multi-challenge Map pretty good for raw practice though.
The Double Marauder Survival scenario benefits the double group multitasking of any race.
The 4 Spore Crawlers Mini Game really gets your brain working on making those connections between switching control groups.
As a huge plus. All races have insta deathball control, which lets you practice instantly auto assigning everything on a deathball. Does not get more real than this. I have not practiced this enough but with enough discipline you could have your deathball control totally memorized and automated within a week. A nice plus is that the time can be increased, because unless you are insanely fast the army will engage you before you are ready, it sucks that you have to reassing the time everytime though.

What? That can't be right... I've done it as toss before.

Maybe we are talking about different trainers? This one has a shitload of multitasking and you get rated at the end of the game.
-You have to build supply blocks all the time. -Not miss a single cycle. -Spot Drops. -Do Drops. -Control the watch towers. -Move your army to randomly assigned spots. -Kill randomly spawned ht groups with your ghosts before they storm or feedback you. -Scan/Emp kill cloaked units. -Engage in a major random fight against a random army. (Well there are a couple different compositions)
You can select what you want to work on individually. Doing everything at once is just... just try it . Sadly You can only play it as terran. There is also: The Micro Challenge that has Micro Challenges for all races. The other multitaskers only want you to control a probe while you do your other stuff.

Either way, I can't imagine much of a difference being made. Terran has the most multitasking to do anyways, so why not train with weighted gloves? Besides, there's always the micro trainer.

On my first week of the core (ZRM) and finding it tough but enjoying the learning experience so far.
Couple of questions:
1) Is it typical for zerg not to hotkey evo chambers? I'm considering using the recommended corrupter hotkey for evos and putting corrupters on the same key as mutas (versus e..g phoenix) or ranged (versus e.g. colossi), but wondered what others did about upgrades
2) There are mixed explanations over the use of the 2 free cams. Some people seem to be saying use these for creep highways, and others saying use them for ramp and rally. I think I'd prefer to use them for creep (not that I've learned to do it yet), but I wondered what the standard way of flicking between base and army was in this case. I hit Shift-K to jump to my main for example, but if I'm using my two free cams for creep, do I just mini-map click to get back to my army? I can't double-click ";" (group 3) for zerglings for example, because my Spawning Pool is on the same hotkey, so sometimes it jumps to my Pool instead of my units. Or should I be removing my spawning pool from the hotgroup once speed research is started (and just go find it when it's time for Adrenal Glands)?
Thanks Haighstrom

I put evos on the hatchery hotkey with ZRM, it's quick for me to tab over to them. You can put them on any hotkey you wish though since they're buildings without rally points it won't hurt anything.

I think evos on the injecting queen CG or hatchery CG is best, but do whatever feels right. Try out different things until you find what works best for you. Same goes for free cams. Use them for w/e you want, you can use them for creep, xel naga watch towers, upgrades, sky's the limit.

JaKaTaK , I've just created an account to Thank you for The Core. I've been playing SC2 for only a week, but I already had trouble with the common hotkeys. I found the core, and decided to give it a try two days ago.
Of course I'm in the Bronze League.
I use the Latin (I'm from Brazil) PRM version.
I have only one complaint: in my keyboard, the control group 3 is set for the key ' which is in a galaxy far far away (close to 1). I believe this is because Brazilian keyboards are different from the spanish-speaking keyboards.
Also, I got really, really confused about the control groups/camera random order, so I'm setting them for a right-to-left way.
Anyway, this is just a big thank you.

Hey hey! We could always use help with our keyboard support
Just follow the instructions in the video and we'll create a Brazil Keyboard layout! :D

First of all: super awesome setup!
I would like to talk about my impression of thecore and how it works for me I've played starcraft for three years and i am currently grandmaster on both EU and NA. Untill now i've been slacking so much in terms of getting a good hotkey setup though - i have never REALLY hotkeyed my army and absolutely not hotkeyed specific units for different keys. Four days ago i started using thecore and i'm already beating masters pretty often in custom games. I started out practicing hotkeys in the "hotkey trainer" arcade game on NA and slowly playing against the AI in the matchmaking session untill "elite" level was reached. Now i play unranked and customs against friends around diamond-master level and its working out great, i think i will have my normal flow back in less than 2 weeks because i am so dedicated to training and i really want to learn this as quickly as possible.
Something i'm wondering though:
The hotkey trainer made me learn hotkeys for everything pretty efficiently BUT when i go ingame there are suddenly a thousand new things to worry about. Not only screen locations but also a million control groups needs to be set and worked out and i find it really hard to use every single new thing from thecore. Like i said, i have always been relatively terrible at mechanics because i didn't even hotkey my army before so there is a lot of new stuff when i start a real game. I try to set the screen locations but i dont really use them during the game and i forget to hotkey warp prism by itself and stuff. Do you think this is normal? Do you think i will slowly learn everything just by playing? Do i need to go into games against the AI again and just focus on screen locations and nothing else? Then focus on hotkeying warp prism etc. and only do that? What do you think is the best way to learn everything so i can benifit from thecore as much as possible?
No matter what, good job guys Vum

Hey hey Vium! Glad to have you on board
Concerning your questions, If I had the skills of a pro-modder I would make the sickest custom maps, but unfortunately I do not, and I don't currently have the time to learn (maybe another time). The number 1 reason why that hotkey trainer works so well is because it is deliberate, measurable practice. The only thing that mass gaming is useful for (IMO) is things that are not measureable, and cannot be made into deliberate practice.
To learn screen hotkeys, I have a drill that Foxy made up that I'll put in a video later. For now I strongly suggest playing vs AI, maybe even on a slower game speed, and all game, the only thing you think about is, "can I use a screen hotkey here?". It also helps a shit ton to plan ahead. You have 10 CGs, and 8 cameras. Write down what you will be using each CG and camera for (doesn't have to be one thing only.) And think of all the applications you can think of. Take them one at a time, and develop and set up drills that you can do for 40 minutes at a time. The more focused it is, the better. For example, maybe just build warp prisms while controlling and army in the middle of the map. Every time the warp prism comes out, use a screen location key to jump to it and put it in your control group. If this is too hard to do at first, try one piece at a time and then add in the other stuff as you get better at it. If you're protoss, I strongly recommend this drill:

Hey Jak, I know you already have a TON on your plate, but I was wondering if you'd be interested in posting your Core keybindings for DotA 2. I've made my own (based on TRL), but I'm curious to see how you step things up!
