I have a question to people who use TheCore or Chameleon.

Is it really comfortable to use layered camera instead of function keys? I'm not sure.

I never used camera keys because they were on the function keys. Too far for me to reach, as soon as i figure out my hotkeys i plan on mixing in the camera hotkeys. Imo they will be much better to get in the core than the function keys just because they are right there, which is what this hotkey set up strives for imo.

Hi Everyone!

I posted this bug about a month ago, but it seems like it got lost in the thread.

Could you guys recheck the camera keys on RRL 1.0? The keys for Create/Jump to Location 5 are bound to [Alt or Shift + 0] when it should be [Alt or Shift + 9].

The last two centered cameras are on 0 and 8. That is correct.

I've been using the hotkey trainer which I'm finding great, but just wondered about the reasoning behind a couple of the ZRM hotkey decisions (obviously you're totally behind customization but I just wanted to understand the logic behind the defaults - or whether you'd consider my changes)

Upgrades

Generally we have
Speed/Armour: J
Ranged Attacks:I
Melee Attacks:O

Tunnelling Claws are K - I'm ok with this as this is a completely different type of upgrade
Locusts are U - again, OK with this because U is the hotkey for building swarmhosts
However Grooved Spines are H, wouldn't it make more sense for this to be I, as it's essentially an upgrade to ranged attack (the same way that Adrenal Glands are O)?

Spells

My only question on spells was around Vipers versus Infestors
They both have their spam spell as O as expected (consume/infested terrans). However it would feel more natural to me to have the area of effect spells the same - I'd rather see Fungal and Blinding cloud both as I, and Abduct/Neural both as /, since casting these pairs of spells feels very similar. Just wondered if there was some reason not to have these match up.

I'm going to play around with these remappings, but let me know if you have any thoughts!

I am using TheCore about 1year, starting from December '12.
I played around ~600 games (hard to count).

Using Random keys.

My problems are:

1. control groups like terran when i need to switch between diffrent buildings Barracs, Factory, Starports
2. same as 1 with protoss, but with robo
3. i am using
O - nexus, ccenter, hatchery
P - warpgates, barracks/factory's/starports

How do You deal with switching between them?
Or maybe any other ideas?

Are you talking about the next/previous subgroup buttons? In TheCore they are bound to extra mouse buttons but if you have a standard mouse (like I do) you can rebind them to whatever's most convenient.

No, Ret uses his own setup. He seems to approve of the concepts applied in this one at least.

I am in the process of building Ret a custom version of TheCore. It will be available for everyone as soon as it is finished, and he will likely be trying it after WCS Season 3 is over. (Same with TLO)

He only has hold position and attack move. No patrol, stop, or move. Still in the process of fleshing out the details.

that sounds insanely stupid, a guy can just split up Rets entire army with 1 unit baiting half of it since ret can only move with attack-move.

No, *that* sounds insanely stupid. Just because he doesn't have a keybind for Move doesn't magically remove the mouse's right-click. Personally, I can't remember actually using the 'move' key.

lol nice tone, and yes i was assuming a player of his caliber would, which is why i was surprised. I also thought that the mouse button would be considered a "key".

All the mouse buttons are considered keys. However, with a keyboard layout we only deal with key bindings. So, when I say he doesn't have patrol, stop, or move, I meant that he has nothing bound to those commands. Moving with the mouse is under global keys>unit management>smart commands. Technically we could rebind this, but we've never found a reason to that would create enough benefits to justify it.

Ret has not changed the binding for smart commands.
