If tumor is a different hotkey on queen vs the tumor itself that's pretty silly. I remember when I first switched to the core it was like that; I'm pretty sure I just modified it myself although maybe it was fixed in the main version.

It should be the same, I think. Creep tumor was just added in the doc, and is on the same key as spread creep for queens.

Sandbox, what is your opinion on overlords? Regarding Ov creation:

in my opinion I was perfect for overlords!

i can deal with vipers swarmhosts or other less built units on worse keys,
but overlords and evo chambers?
build advanced isnt too good either, but you could get used to it ...

this could be solved by putting cancel back on F8, overlord abck to I ultra to where cancel was and change every other key accordingly

If things are going to move, I think ultras should move over to Y/Y. Y/Y is equal to ]/Tb in terms of keyscore. It is on the ability side, so the option to put ultras in any control group without repetitive keystrokes remains open.

If this is done, I suggest using / for either queens or lair/hive, since it is still a good key to press once, and since it would eliminate accidentally upgrading/building queens because of lack of larva.

CORRUPTOR = M

ULTRALISK = new cancel key

I don't really like M and N for infestor/corruptor, maybe there is a better option

actually in my opinion the / key would be perfect for lair hive

I've been trying out Alpha RRM 1.0 and I really like it, even the change I thought I'd hate: the next subgroup on mouse. And I also really like the new cancel key location. Looking forward to the real 1.0!

Hmmm I don't know about the cancel button. I really like it where it is right now. It's so comfy! F8 was never a good cancel button, or a good button for anything! But I can't think of a good option for ovies right now! I'll think more about it tomorrow!

@ninjury: Y is wayyyy too far away for any ability, especially one that's used in a lot of games (e.g. ultras).

@peter22: your proposed hotkeys won't work. L is a CG and can't be used as ability. Also, lair/hive is rarely used, so its place on , is fine. , is harder to press than /.

I think with the Thumb having use of the Shift, Control and Alt key, it is already being highly used. As zerg i am hotkeying and rehotkeying units, queens and cameras on hatches that i see myself typing with thumb a lot.

I agree that the / key is in a prime spot for usage, but i do believe that the old TAB usage of moving thru the hotkey is still underused and it is very important to have quick access on it.

So basically im saying, keep / for TAB and unit abilities to middle ring and pinky.

its a typo I meant K as you could guess

I dont agree with , being harder to press than /
/ is like the worst key in the whole layout

That's going contrary to what we're discussing. Pressing / once is fine, but pressing it multiple times in succession is not comfortable. Having / for next subgroup requires it to be pressed multiple times in succession.

@peter22: well, it might be that our hands are different then. Pressing , for me is a big movement for my ring finger, while / is very close to my thumb.

Maybe it's just me then. I feel comfortable with / as long as I don't have to press it more than 3 or 4 times in a row. Actually, it's the same deal when playing Piano, if you have to press a key with your thumb a few times, you can (and should) alternate pressing thumb and index finger on the same key. Unfortunately given the size of the keyboard keys, that's not possible.

Thanks for the layout everyone - I'm actually holding off on playing until the 1.0 is released or at least settled down.

A couple things: I really feel comfortable pressing / for single action type things. That key is in a great spot. What is in the running to put on that key? And where is Cancel going? Because the F key felt terrible.

I can't seem to find a clear description in the thread and I looked through the github document, but it didn't look right: CG7 was on E in the ZRL layout, and a lot of the non-zerg lines were blank, so I didn't look beyond that because it looked screwed up to me.

Is there a link to show really clearly what everything is going to be on? Or is there a layout on github that is for sure complete?

As of right now, the cancel is = on qwerty. I don't think it's going to change.

If you can figure out the alpha build according to the following document, you are encouraged to try the 1.0A build right now. Otherwise, it's recommended you wait until it's released. It's royally screwed up right now!
