Rebind the next subgroup button to previous subgroup. Its not as good as custom prioritization, but it might be better for you. I would definitely take a look at the priorities and shuffle them around with the previous subgroup function in mind though.

I just realized that 0.6 was under beta testing, what are the differences with 0.5 ? (protoss)

do you recommend it over 0.5 or is it too soon to tell ?

Hey JaKaTaK, I played WoL for about a year when it first came out, but I'm getting back into things for HotS. I've been using thecore now for about two weeks and I love it!

For tabbed production, I remapped the next subgroup hotkey to my mouse button 3 because I never used it for camera scrolling. I really like this setup because "/" was hard for me to find. Even if you feel you absolutely need to access specific buildings with one keystroke, you should keep all your production buildings hotkeyed with the barracks so you can see whether your buildings are producing. What's the disadvantage of seeing everything at once?

I would REALLY like to change the next and previous subgroups to the mouse scroll, but for some silly reason the scroll function can't be remapped in the hotkey menu. However, I saw a post on TL about someone who had a Razer mouse and re-mapped their scroll function to keys they never used within their mouse configuration software.

So I saw the hotkey trainer in the OP, but I'm wondering if anyone knows of a simple prompt program? It doesn't have to integrate with my hotkey setup but just something I could tell it to randomly prompt me to hit a button? The hotkey trainer doesnt say what key they are and I just want practice with my hand being over on the right and hitting those buttons, but hitting any key I want as practice doesn't really seem to be helping.

Anyone know of something to accomplish this?

When I use the hotkey trainer, it tells me a function, say "build drone". Then if I get it wrong, it tells me what buttons I should have pressed. If I get it right, it highlights my answer in green. Is this not how it works for you? Also, the hotkey program in the arcade is wonderful for fast twitch reaction learning.

Is 1.0 going to be significantly different than 0.6.1?

I'm coming back to SC2 when HotS releases, and I figure it's a great time to learn a new hot key setup. If 1.0 is going to be very different, I might just put off the switch, though.

Right im looking for it to tell me the exact button to press. For example
Press: P
I press it, then it says Press: Shift+O

I just need to practice hitting buttons, not memorizing the buttons for specific commands, that would be AFTER im comfortable pushing buttons with my hand there.

Keep in mind that if you do it that way, you are creating an unnecessary extra step in the learning process. In that hand position you don't know where the letters are anyway. So instead of saying:

Drone is O and O is middle finger home key

You could say:

Drone is middle finger home key

Up to you of course. Use whatever style works best for you

Memorizing what buttons do do what functions in the game is always something I pickup fast. The problem is with the hotkey trainer I havent played enough games to actually have a shot at that working. and I play random so there is even more to memorize.

Worst case, I just push buttons I call out myself to practice lol, just feels silly. A mavis beacon typing style thing would be sweet if I could limit the keys to keys used in the core

In HotS the set rally point hotkey for swarm hosts is helpful. You can rally your locusts to a location without causing unburrowed swarm hosts to move there. Unfortunately it's currently out of the way on r, and I would appreciate it if you changed this hotkey. This is mentioned in Existor's swarm host guide: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=394256

If there are good reasons not to do so, that's fine. I wasn't sure if you know about the advantages of this hotkey in HotS.

This is actually a very important change, that we will make. Swarm hosts have their own set rally point command, and it's only currently on a throwaway key b/c we put "set rally" on a throwaway key since normally you can just right-click instead (and for something like barracks, which already have a million abilities/unit creation keys, there just isn't room to have an easy-to-hit set rally key). It's very annoying not being able to set the rally point of the burrowed swarm hosts in a control group without telling the unburrowed swarm hosts to move to the same location.

If so, then I think I and R is the obvious choice, Jak.

If not, then does it make sense to click where you want shs to rally and immediately press stop?

Yes, I'm sure it's different, see here from the Hotkeys file (taken from PLM):

SetRallyPointSwarmHost/SwarmHostBurrowedMP=I

Also, the exact key to put it on is going to depend on the layout. For instance, I is unburrow in RRM.

I'm done playing the beta, and now I have this same problem. Thing is, this is not a problem at all on the CC itself. The conflict is caused by the FLYING ORBITAL! It has both a Land, and an UNLOAD ALL command. The UnloadAll is SHARED with the bunker, and medivac (game say it is shared with 7 other units, I guess other reaces). So, even if I manually go to the file to edit it, or use my WORKING hots layout - nothing. The flying orbital, has a shared UnloadAll, and a shared LAND, and I can not set the land to K, and the unload all to something other then K - without unbinding the medivac UnloadAll, and the bunker UnloadAll. :[[[[[

I am using the core TRMM 0.5, and would much like it to stay that way. The conflict also happens on the new TRMM 0.61 (when attempting this)! Guess it is something local, but what?

Fixed!

What I did was to load the file, and have the game say it's silly problems. Then I manually switched the files, and played a game. --> Fixed - GG

If anyone has this problem ever again - this is how it is fixed.
