Why do you need to press shift, control and alt?

some commands are bind to shift + alt + control + <key> to avoid unbound commands
so this commands are not intended to be used.
so ignore them or if you want to use them rebind

How do you setup a control group that's labeled as P* as apposed to P? (referencing your data document)

Click on the link that has the * in front of it that says "click here to learn more about these special control groups"

or, look to the left of the P* where it says which modifiers to use with which keys

either will work.

Yeah I watched all your videos on this topic but still don't get it, that's why I posted the question; and I still don't get it D:

E O Hatchery W P W P Hatcheries
R I Spine Crawler W* P* W* P* Injecting Queens/All ups
F K Evolution Chamber S ; S ; Infestor

With this bit, I use the ZRMM setup, so do I set my hatcheries to control group P then then injecting queens to control group R?

Okay, so the key to build a hatchery is EO (E for lefty O for righty)
The Control group for hatchery is WP (W for lefty P for righty)

These 2 columns are not connected! The left column is for abilities, the right column is for Control Groups, Suggested use of Control Gropus, Cameras and Global Keys.

For ZRMM you set your Hatcheries to P
Create CG = Ctrl+Shift+P
Add to CG = Ctrl+P
Recall CG = P

you set your queens to P*
Create CG = Ctrl+Shift+J
Add to CG = Ctrl+J
Recall CG = Shift+P

So, both CGs are on P, but the combinations used to Create/Add/Recall are different.

Is there a way we could make the reference spreadsheet more clear?

So for ZRMM, you want your hatcheries on P and your queens on P*.

P: Set with Ctrl+Shift+P, Add to with Ctrl+P, recall with P.
P*: Set with Ctrl+Shift+J, Add to with Ctrl+J, recall with Shift+P.

Now P* might seem a little weird, but it's designed to optimize your injections. To inject, you do:

1) Shift+P (select queens) EDIT: Shift+O (Inject)
2) Shift+; (base cam), click (inject)
3) Shift+L (base cam), click (inject)
4) Shift+K (base cam), click (inject)
5) Continue with other bases, if necessary

I hope that helps! (Also Jak feel free to correct me if I'm wrong here)

Can you put up a short (<1min) demonstration of you using TheCore vs. the normal setup? Or just the core alone? Because I assume you're really good with it, considering you made it, and I want to see it's potential. Also it might help attract others or give others the motivation to learn this new layout when they see the difference between the two layouts. And by demonstration I mean like a camera focused on your hand

Also your spreadsheet is easy to read, I just missed a cell

One issue I have with the free camera hotkeys is that I sometimes lose them because jumping to a layered camera uses shift, and that sets the free camera location. So while calling down mules for instance I might accidentally set my rally cam to the base I was calling down mules at.

I am considering changing the setting of the free game to CTRL+key so that conflict is no longer there, I wonder if there is any reason that it is not that way by default? Might just have to retrain my brain to release shift earlier.

Other than that I am getting used to the set up, and it is just so comfortable! I don't care about a possible speed upgrade anymore, it feels so much better! My wrists are thankful!

I guess someone has asked it before, but I can't find an option to search in a topic.
Anyway, the spreadsheet suggests a CG for ranged units. Can I have an exact list of these units?
I mean, there's a CG for stalkers, and there's a CG for phoneix, so should it be immortals, collosi and sentries? or maybe i should have the stalkers in two CGs?

Feel free to change it to Ctrl. Shift is faster, but I can understand if you are making that mistake. It used to happen to me as well, but rarely happens anymore.

All ranged units are in that control group, including stalkers. When I create stalkers I add them into both CGs. Basically that CG is everything that isn't in the melee CG and that you aren't using for harass. (melee is archon, dt, zeal for me).

@deadskulz
I would be a terrible example for that. (Just because I put in the most hours making TheCore doesnt' mean I am the best at it, just as a airplane designer isn't the best pilot). Maybe we can get Sanddbox or someone else that plays at a high APM to make such a video...

Just wanna let u know even tho I'm not using The Core (prolly won't use The Staircase anytime soon tbh) I really appreciate all you have done for helping out the pplz. If I had money (which I have none T_T), I would def. throw some 5s your way. As of now, just have some warm fuzzies from the text :D

I use DarkGrid b/cuz The Core inspired me to improve my hotkeys, even tho I'm on a laptop.

Why no "army" CG for Protoss? Do you always move ranged and melee separately? I'm really new and have no idea, but Darkgrid and Chamelon both had "army" CGs for toss, so I'm confused.
