I remapped my first two camera keys to 1 and 2 instead of 2 and 3. Looks like you keep it from an old version of the Core Lite.
When I create or overwrite a control group I either go thumb pressing ctrl+shift or pinky on ctrl and rink on shift. Having rapid fire on attack command is iffy (worried about accidental attacking of friendly units or buildings). Rapid fire injects are nice and fast getting space and b to press at the same time will take some time to learn. Lair and Hive are on F.
My current zerg control groups are W all hatches Q all Queens 123 first three hatches for rallying purpose ` Upgrade buildings A Attack command units S Early game banes and Mutas Z&X Creep tumor or spell unit

Introduction video is out!

This looks great. I gave it a quick try and have 1 question and 1 comment so far.
Where can we access the sheet that you are showing in the video? It will be great to see the recommended control groups and all the keys for easy reference. I checked but didn't see it in the thread.
As for the feedback, I'm not sure how well the rapid-fire on caps is working if we have the gateways on there. Especially late game one would build a couple of gateways. With rapid fire you can't hold down the build gateway button and click where you want them (or how many you want), so you might end up making a lot more gateways by accident than intended, especially when having a lot of money late game. Not sure if the best route would be to move the gateway build or remove the rapid fire (which is very useful for other things).

When building multiple gateways, couldn't shift be used? I'm pretty sure rapid fire wouldn't interfere because the button isn't being held down.

Hi JaKaTaK; I noticed that you stated in your reddit thread for The Core Lite that campaign support was coming soon. Since it's just a hotkey file, what exactly prevents it from working in the WoL/HoTS campaigns? Also, you may have already mentioned this in your video, but do you have recommendations for the proper use of the control groups? Finally, are you going to remove Chameleon from The Core Visualizer and replace it with TCL?
|
Hi Heliotrope!
1st regarding the campaign. There is a line in each file for each command. And while some of the commands from multiplayer are the same, many are different. This means we need a line in the file for each of these commands.
We're working on suggested CGs, it might take a bit as I'm on vacation and away from my computer. Here's what I'm thinking so far:
W - hatch/nex/cc A - Army S - Spellcaster Q - Queens/ups
These are the best CGs. The rest we may not even give suggestions for.
TheCore Visualizer won't get updated until someone can figure out how to do it. The original developer left before the project was finished.
hope that helps!

Hi Jakatak, first of all i want to say thank you for all your work on hotkey layouts, you make the game much more enjoyable for those of us who stick with them. I'm a pretty new player so I decided to start out with something optimized, altough i can't use the full version of The Core since i play on a laptop. I was wondering what the people trying this out thought about the most comfortable CGs? I play zerg best but I'd like to offrace quite a lot so I'd appreciate the heads up on the other 2 races. I've been playing around with it for a few days and I use Infestors/vipers S Queens Q All hatches W Creep queen/creep tumor/Nydus X Lings counterattack group A Mutas 3 Army bulk 2 Banelings 1 Broods/Corruptor/Swarm hosts Z Key tech is bound to º In case i need to quickly check when upgrades will finish etc
Also, I remapped Alt+ º and Alt + 1 to tilt the camera left or right to better target scvs building structures, just like a darkgrid shortcut but placed to the far left side of the number row. I think its pretty easy to hit and out of the way enough to not accidentally overwrite camera hotkeys. Thoughts? Also, what is recommended to use the camera hotkeys of 2 and 3 for? Ive been using QWASZX for bases and i think theyre more than enough..
And apart from fast base camera injects, what is the use of rapidfire keys for zerg?

cool stuff! A couple of my opinions:
I think A is better for army because it's a homekey and you'll probably be selecting that a lot.
Rapid Fire is possible to use for: Infested Terran Corruption Contaminate Creep Consume Abduct Transfuse
Keep in mind, depending on the situation, you may not want to use a rapid fire key. For these abilities we have provided alternates.

Hi JaKaTaK, I've been testing your Layout with my own modifications. I share it for you to see and say you think. Some changes are: I use as control groups 1, 2, 3 and 4 (for the navy) q, w, a and s (is the same) but as the control group 5, 6, 7 and 8 (for buildings) 1, 2, 3 and 4. For groups of controls 9 and 0 (I use them for update) I use z and x. Introduced on 1 because I find it easier to do the "Tapping" with those keys. I build with SPACE and R respectively. Generally I organized skills on the keys by frequency of use, with SPACE, R, F and E, in that order (for both units to buildings). For transformations of Viking, Tank, Hellions, etc, use SPACE to tranform and return to the initial state R.
Reactor building also use D and TechLab C. Analogous to the CC, Orbital Command to use D and C to Plannetary Fortress.
Check it and tell me what you think. Sorry for my English Greetings from Chile.

Hi Jakatak! is the spreadsheet in OP updated to the recent version? The hotkeys in the current version seem to be different to the ones on the spreadsheet.

crap, on my way to bed. I'll take care of it in the morning. Thanks for the heads up!
EDIT: Okay, the spreadsheet you were looking at was for Chameleon. I linked the page for TheCore Lite in the OP.

Got a timeline on when you'll roll out an official CG usage recommendation? No rush, I'm fine on the chameleon atm, but it would be nice to have some idea of when I can expect to update my hotkeys.
Actually I'm stupid.

I am confused. Are you looking for CG recommendation for Chameleon or TheCore Lite?

That got added just this morning, so you may want to reevaluate your diagnosis

There are only 2 control group hotkeys? And 8 cameras hotkeys? Ummm... Am I missing something? That sounds pretty bad.

I love this so much!
I've made a bunch of modifications because of well personal preferance. But this feels ... well "right" for me.
Thank you JaKaTaK and everyone that worked on this!

Tried TheCore Lite for a bit. But damn, I just cannot have attack on D. I have used A for attack in over a decade, and it's just too late for me to switch it up now. Great work though.
