Hi TL, I am trying to get into spamming keys to warm up, but I've come across a small problem I keep running into. Everytime I spam two keys, I without fail, accidently double tap one of them and of course my screen moves to that position. However, when i try spamming the same 2 keys with my dominant right hand, I seem to never double tap the keys. I am a masters Terran if that helps any, and am just wondering why the fingers on my left hand are retarded compared to my right, and if there is anyway I could train them or something. Oh and the two keys I try to spam are 4 and 5 which is my cc's and production facilities.

your fingers are not used to it so just keep doing it until they are able to do it exactly how you want. it's like learning to use a new control group. in the beginning it's always pretty difficult but when you keep trying it, it will become easier with the time.

If you want to limber up your hands try one of those stress balls, or a gadget like huk's, which looks like a pair of garden scissors without the blades?

As far as spamming keys goes, if you are only interested in warming up then start off (relatively) slowly and gradually build up speed. In every sport I've ever done, I've never heard "right away, go as hard as you possibly can" ever given as advice on how to warm up.

Try slowing down then slowly increasing your speed. It seems like you're going so fast that you have no accuracy (which is a bad thing) so slow it down.

Do it slowly then, just like piano

Do it 7 times straight without fail, and it should become muscle memory then. The more you do it, the better you will remember it. They say that if you mess up once, it takes several rights to correct the wrong (negate the effect of the wrongness which can hinder your muscle memory)

Also yes doing 3 or more helps as well.

Put your fingers on the 2 keys like you use the most like your CCs and Raxs or something. That should be pretty helpful. That;s how i play anyways

I think spamming 2 keys is better than spamming 3.. I was doing 3 keys for a long time but its way way too easy to do even on my first time. Without thinking so its pretty much like I wasnt even spamming... 2 takes at least a bit of thinking so actually helps keep up my speed a lot more even if I do it slower than 3 keys. (of course I do go to 3 some usually when I am mixing in other spam so I dont get used to the 2)

I do something like..
2424242442424343434343545454545454454524242424242424242424545454553434343434F1F2F3F1F2F3F1F2F323423423423423423422424242424

And even pros double tap keys sometimes.. just double tap the key back to where you want to be.

i'm a guitar teacher and often i will have my pupils play 1-2-3-4 2-3-4-1 3-4-1-2 4-1-2-3 (the number being the fret on any single string). try typing those numbers - it'll get you thinking and get your fingers moving.

I usually mix up my spam pattern to avoid this problem.. Tabbing very slowly and then speeding it up helps too.

I don't think I would get a single timing right doing that .

You need to slow it down. I play the saxophone and it has really helped with key spamming. If you keep learning it wrong, it'll become harder to learn it correct later. Just start off slow and speed it up over time. Your right hand is dominant because of the muscles you've built from using it so much. If you have ever tried writing with your left hand your brain has to think hard about reversing the movement. All that use has made your right hand easier to think of in terms of movement. The muscles are wired a little differently because to has been used less. Try using your left hand to open the door, or while eating. You will build up the muscles and mindset to use them more effectively. Maybe even switching mouse hands while browsing the web, it'll feel really awkward, but you'll feel a lot more positive with using that hand.

don't spam, have a plan.
What i mean by that is, rather than moving your fingers like a nutcase for the first few minutes, chill out and think about what you want to achieve. Get EAPM, not APM.
