Thx Alrac It depends is it a really early allin or a later one. If it is really early, it counters your build instantly and unless you put 2-3 additional Bunkers, you're dead. Basically, put more Bunkers and spread units against Banelings, I would recommend having all your SCVs at the natural on one hotkey so you can evacuate them as soon as you see this coming.

I have decided to retrain myself fully to play properly (using day9 daily #360 mental checklist and training exercises). This means i have had to fully change my hotkey setup and i have a quick question. Just FYI i used to use 1CCs 2raxs 3facts 4 SPs 5army. I am now using 123army 4CCs 5rax 6fact 7SPs. I am struggling with missing the factory and starport keys very often and it doesn't feel comfortable, but i need 3 keys for army instead of using just one, which i used to do. Is it normal that it should feel this awkward, or should i change the hotkey setup to something easier on the hand (maybe using tab and ` as hotkeys). I know people will say do whatever you feel is best, but whenever i see pros play probably over 50% use the setup above, it must be preferred for some reason. thanks btw. i am in gold, i hit a wall where i can't beat high gold or platinum players regularly at all so that's why i'm doing this..

Thx Alrac Hellion/Banshee builds often get a third base at the 7ish minute mark and do a good job of holding these builds as you can pick off banelings and then just repair bunkers against the roaches.

It completely depends on yourself, what you prefer and why you feel comfortable. It's possible that Pro's have larger hands/feel more confident reaching to the further away keys and that is why they are fine with using the set up you are having trouble with. It's important that you can hit these keys with ease as you are going to be doing it frequently over the whole game. Personally I find reaching to 6 the beginning of too much, and so I only use 1-5. 123 army, 4 for all my production (and I cycle through using tab), and 5 for CCs. This suits me because I can't reach 6789 easily. You can also rebind 67890 to different keys if you want (as you said). Personally I don't see why anyone would hotkey different building structures to different hotkeys as its just more work to rally all 3 buildings every time! But again that's because hotkeys are personal preference. I hope this gives you a bit of insight/inspiration to set up your hotkeys how you feel comfortable ![]() Using three army hotkeys is definitely a step in the right direction and if you begin using them now you will have a lot easier time as you get better and when army control and engagements are important. At the same time however I don't think changing these hotkeys will get you out of gold, as getting out of gold is really just about making supply depots and army - so don't expect to suddenly hit plat because you use army hotkeys ! Hope this was useful ![]()

I am mainly learning to use tapping properly so i can macro better, and learning to look at the minimap and my money every few seconds. Its really hard lol but no i don't expect a hotkey change to get me out of gold!

I would stick to what you are comfortable with. When I started playing and didn't have a clue I used 1 CCs, 2 scout, 3 Rax, 4 Fact, 5 Starport. Didn't stop me making masters pretty quickly. Turns out this is actually very close to what MVP uses so I guess it can't be that bad. Personally I don't have a problem just selecting my army on the screen, if I want to cast an EMP I just click on a ghost, if I want to move my vikings, I just double click, it's not that hard.

If you feel like you're missing hotkeys, you should keybind keys you never bind for anything. As an avid MMORPG player, I had to do this, even though I am Zerg, I believe this can be useful. I have all my Hatcheries on tilde (control group 0), and Queens are 5-6-7-8, Tab is for Evo Chambers and Caps Lock is harassment unit (95% of the time, Mutalisks). So, you might want to bind three of those keys, as I've figured out I never use push to talk in game, nor do I switch between units in a group and I need more army keybinds. For me, it depends from MU to MU, but basic structure is the following: 1 - Zerglings/Roaches 2 - Banelings/Roaches/Corruptors 3 - Ultralisks/Brood Lords 4 - Infestors 5,6,7,8 - Queens Caps Lock - Mutalisks Of course, it all depends on the current unit composition I have, but when I play Terran, I tend to have all drops on each hotkey, for me, it is: 1 - Marines/Marauders 2 - Medivacs 3 - Siege Tanks/Vikings 4 - Ghosts Caps Lock - Drop Tab - Drop etc etc

I have trouble holding all ins in TvZ when I go CC first. I want to be able to hold any kind of all in without having to scout until my hellions are out given that I have decent micro. So I wanna know if there are VODs or replays I can learn from where pros get allinned doing CC first and hold it, preferably players like flash, mkp, taeja, mvp, polt, mma. Does anyone have such replays or VODs? I really don't know where to look for them s:

The more gas mined the more likely an all in is coming, so you can prepare with extra bunkers. This will make you safe against busts which hit just after your hellions come out. The answer to all ins isn't about being able to control amazingly - it's seeing them incoming and reacting with sufficient time.

I'm using MKP's CC first build he has done a lot in the GSL. The one time he did get allinned he lost to it, but I think he was being too greedy with his building placement. The only things I will change in my build is building placement and overall positioning and maybe getting 1 extra bunker to hold any kind of all in. I won't waste a scan vs zerg in the early game. There has to be a way to hold these all ins with the amount of buildings and units I got. I'm sure I could find it out myself if I played the build a couple hundred more times, but I wanna see if there is a shortcut and see how pros do it. I heard taeja held a few all in with CC first, I wanna check the VODs, but I don't know where to find them. I think it was IPL or something, I don't follow these tournaments a whole lot though..

Thx Alrac I assume you are also going hellion/banshee with quick upgrades. Using banshees to focus banelings is extremely important, and hellions can also somewhat effectively kill them if they clump. Practice splitting scvs so the banes that do get through aren't as effective. If you have enough time once it is scouted, pull most of the scvs back into the main and repair the ramp for as long as possible. All you need to do is survive and not be down to like 10 scvs. You are ahead in bases and tech, so if you don't die or get crippled completely, you will win a little bit later. To be able to tell if it is coming, just check the third and gases with hellions and banshees.

Another useful tip is to have scvs at the natural hotkeyed so you can start the repair extremely quickly.
