What's the optimal way to rally workers to your mineral line? Early game I rally to empty mineral patches or patches with only a single worker, but after a while which patch should you set your rally to (i.e. middle patch, edge, etc.)? Also, when you get an expansion, where do you rally your workers to? Should I rally only to my natural expo or is it better to rally to both main and natural?
Also, how many workers should you transfer to expansions and when? Should you transfer workers as soon as your expo goes up or is it better to wait until you've saturated your main? Should you transfer half your workers?
TL;DR: What's the optimal way to rally workers to mineral patches and transfer?

@ St0chastic:
Perfectly you want to have 2 workers on each close mineral patch even if some of the patches are w/o harvesters. But for that you need to feel timing very well and start with second worker mining closer patch when your first worker is about to return to base. It's hard to do so you may just rally workers into empty patches and when every patch has a worker you may rally them to close patches. As soon as 2 workers are mining on 1 patch then make rally point to patch with 1 worker.
I would say transfer half of you workers to expansion if you planing to produce same amount of workers on both bases. That way just rally from each base to minerals of that base. Later in the game if you see that one of your bases have full saturation and other one do not then rally all bases to those minerals.

whats a good transition after using a forge and 1 cannon to stop a korean 4 gate? A friend K4G'ed me earlier and he came eventually with a delayed regular 1 gas 4 gate and killed me before i could tech to collosus.
Is collosus the best choice? Should I have cannon'ed more? He didn't lose any zealots only lost some probes from his 10 gate vs my 12 gate opening.

Hi guys, I kinda need help with my "train of thought"
So Yesterday i played a TvT - I went for a banshee opener, transitioning into marine tank viking.
My opponent attacks me with a few cloaked banshees, which i repel okay. Later, he hits me with a few more cloaked banshees and vikings. I deal with this semi okay, only loosing 5 harvesters, but trading my vikings for he's, and dealing with the leftovers with stimmed marines. I start building a few thors, to better accumulate for him doing this again.
The game goes on, and i do a bit of banshee harass.. Later on in the game, i Move a small portion of my army, 4 siege tanks, 2 groups of marines and 2 medivacs close to he's base, to snipe he's production facilities. It works out okay, but then all of a sudden he attacks me with Banshees, Vikings and Battlecruisers.
After killing my small attack, he pretty much just A moves he's fleed and kills me.
Now my question is, how should i have responded to this? What is the best counter, going against Battlecruisers? I feel like having 3-4 thors and about 20 vikings as my defense against he's banshee / Viking army was at minimal decent, but when he throws in battlecruisers in the mix, what am i supposed to do? Start doing battlecruisers myself? Doesn't seem like the ideal solution, Feels like i would having a never ending catch up to he's air superiority.
So what do you guys do when you see BC's in a TvT? Does this differ, if you are behind? And how does it differ if you are ahead?
Thanks

If I go Roach/Hydra what ratio should I have against a protoss deathball?

Depends a bit on MU and opponents composition, but generally you want just enough roaches to cover your front-line and the rest hydras. So 10-20 roaches, rest hydras.
|
I'd say the same applies vs a deathball, maybe less hyds and more roaches if he has no voids but lots of colossus. Roaches are effecive cost-wise, but horrible supply-wise. They don't do to well in a 200 vs 200-fight except soak up damage.

Where can I find a full list of the [D] [Q] etc tags that are used in the TL forum?

Why doesn't every Protoss player go nexus first vs Terran? I haven't seen a single Terran stop it yet as long as the Protoss is competent, even if the Terran goes proxy rax they still can't seem to beat it. What am I missing?

When playing against Terran, I've noticed that they sometimes get these huge circles around their base on the minimap. Ingame, it shows a marking as if it was the range of a siege tank or some other static defense. I haven't been able to figure it out though.
What causes this circle? What does it mean for me? What vision does it grant the Terran player?
Thanks in advance. I'm thinking it's a planetary fortress or something but not sure...

Yes. It's not just manual explode either (If they explode on a close zealot etc.). Splash in general with hit invisible enemy units (siege tanks, hellions, collosus), but there must be a visible unit nearby for then to shoot. Banelings have the advantage of forcing a manual explode even if no visible enemy is around.

What is most efficient way to break units out from your main army for a drop and assign them to a new hotkey?

so i was reading a thread on infestors today and someone mentioned the fungal growth has a range of 9, feed back has a range of 9 so they should be equall. then it occured to me, funal is an area of effect ( i think 2 but i could be wrong) so that basically makes it a range of 10/11 i think, so with perfect infestor micro you could potentially fungal growth templar indefinetly (until they run out of energy) while staying out of range of the templar, is this correct?

I just read the guide on how to improve at 1v1, and the "pick one build order for each matchup" struck home for me
As a silver level newbie Terran, what TvT, TvZ, and TvP builds would be my best starting point in order to branch out and become a better overall player. I want safe, macro oriented builds, but the liquipedia seems kind of out of date and its intimidating to try and find builds on the strategy forum. Any recommendations/links?
|
TvT: maybe some 2 rax 1 fac marine+tank build and expand when its safe (its often times not the best idea to get a fast expo in mirror matchups [ yeah i know that you can get through with a 15 hatch in zvz, dont flame me ;D]). TvZ: 2 rax expand TvP: 2/3 rax expand or maybe even 3 rax 1 base push (you will get into diamond with this against toss, but it isnt really a macro opener^^). against zerg you really have many options though, but I dont think that some kind of 1 rax fe will be really good in silver league, cause most just go 1 base all in there.

Do you have links to those corresponding BOs? Thanks
