Is it possible to change it to ctrl+r? I checked all the hot key options and couldn't find it so maybe someone could kindly tell me which section under the hotkeys it is? Each of the modifiers have behavior that can't be changed (within the game, at least). For Alt, it's autocast. Shift is toggling selected units. Control is selecting all units of whatever you click on.

But I wouldn't mind a button that selects unhotkeyed army units or something, because very often I misclick the eggs/larvae so the units aren't added to my control group so they chill at the rally point. So yeah, nobody really uses it. Not much point. There are situations wherein it's very helpful. It's not all about A-moving. Ever seen a Terran with Medivacs strewn across the map, remnants of drops killed off ? This hotkey makes it easy to bring them all home by ctrl+clicking a medivac in the wireframe and bringing it home. Ever seen a Terran rally units to a seige tank to provide reinforcements ? These units have always moved across the map, running by anything and everything. Using the army hotkey, you can ctrl+click wireframes for the units you're rallying, and issuing an attack move to your current location, optionally adding to the ctrl group. This prevents them from getting caught by zerglings without fighting back. Ever seen a Zerg with units either at a hatchery, or mysterious rally points ? This solves that problem. I hotkey my army as eggs, but sometimes it gets screwed up. I use the army hotkey to get them straightened out. Ever have units scouting the map in the early game and discover an all in ? One hotkey to return everybody home is quicker than however many control groups are involved otherwise. Finally, it's rebindable, and not only to a key, but a combination of keys. If you have idle workers on ~, for example, you can have this on Shift+~, as you want Ctrl+~ for 'all idle workers'. Give it some thought, I'm sure you can find more uses.

My biggest problem with the select army key is that it includes observers for toss. I usually have my obs in strategic locations or following specific units. Question: how do you split your workers now? Am i supposed to leave auto-split on, start game, build worker, and try to split my workers who are already moving? I feel like that would be the fastest way but it's a little hard tbh.

I also can't click on ally buildings and units to do the same. Is there any way to turn this back on or is this a new thing in HOTS that's here to stay? Go to options and gameplay and there will be a box to check so you can select enemy structures.

I read it a lot that people wish different mmr's for every race so maybe blizzard implement it? And then i have a question about the lvl in the new system. i see people have all races at lvl 30 and have some weird match historys like 10Hatcherys after 36seconds how is this possible?

No, your unranked mmr starts at whatever your ranked one is at the time, then it begins to diverge from there. No separate mmr's for different races unfortunately. As for the weird match history, I have no idea.

After you are comfortable with each build, add some transitions or builds with other units. But really, if you are just starting... Macro, build stuff, win. Just figure it out for each race instead of race of choice. For new players, you can always try Jakatak's method (basically, don't ever take gas). It consists of just trying to use your alerts to manage your economy properly. If you get terran, nothing but supply depots, barracks, ccs, orbitals, and marines. For protoss, nexi, probes, pylons, gateways, and zealots. For Zerg, hatcheries, overlords, queens, spawning pools, and zerglings. The purpose of this strategy is just to focus on macro alerts, keep your money low, and don't get supply blocked (while dealing with chronos, mules, or injects). Great way to get started as a new random player.
