For example, I often do 1 rax FE into 3 rax , taking 2 gas, same thing every time, and eventually upgrades and factory, starport for medivas. So, I guess this question is very tricky for me, why not just use the same strategy in all matchups? Yes, normally in TvZ you reactor hellion, but since that is not viable anymore, I think many TvZ including MKP himself like to 1 rax FE, to 3 rax and double gas, like mentioned above. Then I saw MMA's game vs Feast and he did this exact same thing. So, is it ok/viable to use the same strategy in all matchups? Its absolutely ok to have a common opening like 1rax for all matchups, but down the road you need to start modifying certain parts of the build according to the race your playing against. You can go 1rax FE >3rax and starport reactor. But for TvZ you will get 2 reactors 1 tech lab. For TvT 2tech labs 1reactor (if vs mech) or 2reactors 1 tech lab if you scout bio or something.

I have the same problem! I find that in team games, you really need to play like its all you(unless you know them) and play with a stable army. For terran you just need mmm, and just be constatly dancing outside their base, but never engage without your ally. Its a lot easier with protoss because you can have dts to contain and just a protoss deathball, but as long as you dont do anything gimicky(cheese) and play with a stable army, ig drops in main and then running when their army comes back, youll easily get out of plat, as you can probably out macro both players as a masters terran

In a ZvZ matchup, if I do a 15 pool 16 hatch and my opponent goes hatch first, am I forced to stomach his economic lead and continue macroing, or are there viable ideas to punish his build order?

Then...it happened to me....though the guy was basically wrong, it was not realyl a hack, just a bug. Basically i won, and in teh score screen it says that I have left the game and it also says match in progress. What is this? Anyone ever experienced this? Did I register a win or loss? http://i47.tinypic.com/15ev9nc.png

The 'has left the game issue' is a bug but if you check back to those results after a few minutes it will show your victory correctly. ![]() http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=272003

It's a little more complex then that. 2v2 abides by a different, more one/two base style meta game where a player's superior macro mechanics aren't best utilized. Only thing you can do is try to chug on, carry your teammate and coach him through it until ultra high masters 2v2.

Question In a ZvZ matchup, if I do a 15 pool 16 hatch and my opponent goes hatch first, am I forced to stomach his economic lead and continue macroing, or are there viable ideas to punish his build order? Opening 15 pool 16 hatch is in my opinion the safest and most economic way to open in ZvZ. The economic disadvantage when compared to the hatch first is miniscule as you get out a queen faster = more larvae = more drones !Hope that helps. When is it optimal to mass spines in ZvP? During the morphing of the greater spire? There isn't a proper way to give you an exact time for when to begin morphing spines. The best answer is in between any possibility of a 2 base all in and when you expect a 3 base push to hit (Most often the stalker/collossus push between 14 and 15 minutes). Another good idea is when you have an excess of 1500 minerals in the mid-late game assuming your macro is on par. You will no longer need as many minerals because your ideal units (infestor/broodlord/baneling/ultra) will be much more gas heavy and will leave you an excess of minerals. Also counting your drones at the 16 minute mark (after broods are out) is a good habit. An ideal zerg economy will be about 70 drones in the endgame with 5+ bases. Many zergs (myself included) have a bad habit of overdroning to 85-90 drones, which is fine for the 3 base roach remax but not a good idea in the end game (too many minerals, too much supply in workers). So if you spy over 75 drones and have decided to transition into broodlord tech, then mass spines at chokes and around bases is never a bad idea to A. Free up supply for more army B. Spend those pesky minerals that should be in the high hundreds/thousands C. Defend that nasty 3 base stalker collosus push that seems to always hit right before broods. I dont know what league your in but I'm assuming in the lower leagues there are much less defined timings, so easy guidelines: When you have a ton of drones, and also a ton of minerals that you cannot reasonably spend on units/tech. Hope that helps although maybe it was a bit too verbose.

The problem is that the server has to rely on the client to report whether it won or lost the game, which means you can just replace the outbound "I lost" message with an "I won" message and break the game.

Oh no... Well that is the consequence of playing games I guess. There is always hacks lying around Nothign we can do except when Blizz fixes this....which takes a very long time, the original thread was in October 2011.Sigh..

We TL zergs are blessed. Blessed with no less than three gurus: Tang, Belial, and Blade (in random order). I've been trying to help some non-zerg friends of mine, and man is it hard to find good guides. Are there any gurus for the other races, with awesome guides out there?

Are there any gurus for the other races, with awesome guides out there? I'd say NRGMonk and CecilSunkure are the cream of the crop as far as Protoss guide authors go. I'm not sure about Terrans, but if you just search for [G] TvP, [G] TvT and [G] TvZ, you can probably figure out pretty quickly who writes good guides.

And when you say late game you basically mean you're both maxed, right?
