As soon as you see HT being made, you basically want ghost to negate the storm possibility. Also EMPing the archon makes them so squisky.

dunno where else to post this; when creating a replay pack do you only include replays where you win? or is that considered bragging, ill mannered, etc.

No, I would say that most replay packs consist of only wins and it isn't considered ill mannered at all. People who download your replay packs are there to watch you play well and want to see you at your best. That being said though, some of your best games could be losses. When I was applying to join the team that I am on now half of the replays that I sent were losses, it does show some humility and also that you look at games objectively leaving out the emotions of winning or losing. But again, there's nothing wrong with just wins as well.
Toss me a link to your replay pack through PM when you post it - I'd like to check a few out.

I every one, i'm terran diamond and i have difficulties to search what aspect of my game i have to improve. I watch all my games but it'S very indecisive, i can't find a thing to work on at a time, and the result is that i don't improve as much as i should. It is very hard for me to search and find a style(Ex:Bio, Bio/mech, mech...) and then stick to it for better and faster improvement. So in the hope that you'll heLp me, i give you some replays : http://www.2shared.com/file/yDtMWW6l/replay_pack_ace.html It would be awsome if you help me just a little.

Hey - I would love to help, but can you upload individual replays to drop.sc or some other replay site? I am not interested in downloading entire packs right now or from that site.

- At 7 minute you see he doesn't have a third. At this time you need to figure out what he is doing, whether it's an all in or a fast tech build.
- When you scouted his aggression you should have built more bunkers because although you still held, his aggression was extremely weak, and if he had committed more you would have easily died to a bane bust.
- You do an awesome job of keeping your money low, this is fantastic.
- I really think that you should poke more with your hellions, you let him get a good bit of creep out for free, and you also didn't try to pick any lings heading across the map when he was reinforcing.
At 11:30 I feel like you should have started a third CC since you held his aggression. You just did
- At 13 minutes I like your decision to put the pressure back on him - the doom drop choice at 14:30 was awesome as well.
- During your drop you spent a few seconds not attacking priority targets - like the drones or hatchery after you kill the infestation pit. I know this seems small - but you could have easily made a lot bigger of a dent in his base if you had focused on that drop a bit more.
- Okay, as the drop goes on you pick off a ton of extraneous structures - I really think you should have aimed down the lair while keeping your units clumped up behind the minerals using them as a choke. If the Zerg sends banelings you can lift quickly, and if he sends lings you are in a nice choke to kill them in. By killing the lair you delay a LOT of his tech times as well as cut off mining from that base and get rid of a lot of his larva production.
- During that entire drop your macro has fallen apart. You could have built an extra base - landed your third - built more production and supply - created a lot more marines for a follow up. There is a lot you could do.
Overall I think you played well but think you should take some serious work on multitasking when attacking. Your macro could use a lot of work when attacking. Your read on his build was also non-existent, when he doesn't take a third you need more knowledge on his play, you should have used your hellions more efficiently and had extra defense ready.
I hope this helps some - I'll watch a replay or two more later, good luck have fun!

- At 8 minutes you are floating 500 minerals. I feel like you should be producing another CC with this money at this time - and since you don't have hellions out to pressure him at all or deny any creep you should at least see what he is doing and use a scan.
- I think that since you are capped for gas with that build creating reactors was a waste and that you should just build more barracks and use your gas to produce more tech/units instead.
- At 11:30 you just attack blindly into him. You have no idea what composition he has or where his units are. You also just a-click into his banelings which decimate your army. I think that you could improve your micro but also do drops during your attack, not to mention that your attack force was also extremely small and weak.
- If you notice at his natural he only has a spore and a queen, and at his main he has only a queen. If you were to do a split attack (attacking from one side and dropping someplace else) I feel like you could have done some serious economic damage to him. When you go bio you should really consider trying more of this tricky maneuvering.
- I think that you should also sim city your third so he can't just do runbys and decimate your income, consider making a bunker or two (even if you only leave 1 marine in each) and maybe a supply depot or two to create chokes to stop lings.
Overall I think that your biggest problem here was that you kept fighting him head to head. You should really start dropping and trying to put pressure on him without just engaging into his superior army while on creep (this is a HUGE deal, try to not engage on creep, use scans or a raven to clear it out), and not splitting.
good luck have fun future matches

I hope this is a simple enough question:
If you scout a spire being built/completed, how do you determine if the zerg is going mutas or corrupters for brood tech? Last game I saw a spire and put up a bunch of turrets, but the spire was just there so that it could later be a greater spire.

It depends on when you spot things. It's extremely rare for someone to make only ling bling and just get a spire for bl; It's even more rare to open with the spire and not build mutas. So, if you scan and scout a spire done between 11-13 (maybe later if you're a in a lower league) they're probably building some mutas. If it's later than that, most likely it's for bl. Also, if you play mech and they scout it, you should assume it's for bl (though if it's early in the game they could still get some mutas to see if they could do damage)

few noob question concerning TvT.
1. What is the standard/safe opening for TvT. I usually skip gas for fast exp. 3 rax, 2 with tech and add in factory for siege/port for medivac
2. How should i prevent drop from opponent? Last few game, I manage to out macro enemy and have 1/2 base over them. I was pushing back and lock them in but they just drop medivac at my expo, kill off svc and sometimes even CC. Should i alwasy build sensor tower to prevent this?
3. I am not quite sure the meta of TvT is anymore. when i played SC 2 a year ago, It was that you control the air, you control the game but it doesnt seem that way anymore. Anyone mind explaining the meta of TvT as of right now?

You should look at his previous gas usage leading up to the spire being complete. If a player is going mutas he will have spent minimal amounts of gas leading up to the spire because mutas are extremely costly in gas. If you see him making almost entirely lings and a few banes he will probably be getting mutas (but even then it's not certain, just more likely). If you see that he has a ton of roaches and upgrades on roaches and such he is probably not going to get mutas, at least not in a count that should be threatening.
You should also try and scout the rest of his base to see if he has an infestation pit or a hive getting started - these are tell-tale signs as well.

Another useful tell is whether Zerg is pooling larva as the Spire nears completion, since it's very common for Zerg to build a large number of Mutalisks right as the Spire completes.

Hi guys
I tried using camera hotkey to my play now, so using f2 f3 f4 or so to my bases.
Problem is, f1 s idle worker by default. I can change it to ` , however I just realized something annoying. If I want to select ALL my idle workers, normally I would click control + f1, however since changing it to `, I cannot do control + `. Rather, I have to do it one by one (pressing `)
This is so disappointing, I hope there is a fix to this? I just want to be able to select all idle workers by clicking control + `. If I cannot do this, then I have to use default for idel worker, which is f1...

Do you guys think CC first is useless in my opinion it is because other races can snowball you even in TvT. I find myself beating every single one of my terran opponents who goes CC first just by having better tech ( and going mech) and faster 3rd CC. Maybe i play bad players ( high masters eu ) but from my experience if i scout him going cc first i will always win. Same goes for ZvT where Z just gets another base and builds more workers because you can pressure him and in PvT toss can do the PartinG build and be ahead always.

Why do players go 12 Gate in PvP when it cuts probes briefly? What are they defending against?
|
On June 28 2012 02:07 Salivanth wrote: Why do players go 12 Gate in PvP when it cuts probes briefly? What are they defending against? It gets your first units out faster, and it gets your cybercore and thus your warpgate faster. It's a question of trading a few seconds of mining for having your first gateway a few seconds faster, but because early-game PvP so frequently features heavy aggression of some kind by one side or the other, the few seconds can make a huge difference. Getting WG five seconds fastercan be a game-winning advantage, whereas having a few extra minerals will more rarely make much of a difference.

How do you react to cannon rush behind mineral line? You know...2 pylons to block, then 1 cannon. I managed to put a bunker etc but he was already makingi cannons in other places...lol

*Not a strategy question, just don't know the exact appropriate thread to ask this question*
I may just be stupid, but is the Public Test Realm for SC2 live? When I launch Public Test Realm.exe in my starcraft folder, it does nothing. Nothing happens. What could be wrong? Or am I just.. dumb?
Apologies for non-strategy topic.
