I may just be stupid, but is the Public Test Realm for SC2 live? When I launch Public Test Realm.exe in my starcraft folder, it does nothing. Nothing happens. What could be wrong? Or am I just.. dumb?
Apologies for non-strategy topic.
No it's not active. You will see it become active when a patch is announced but not yet released so players can get a first hand look at it and help test it before it is released.

I see, I see. Thanks! I'm dumb.

Am I the only one who uses middle mouse button to scroll the map? Seems like everyone goes all the way to the edge with the mouse when scrolling is needed...I feel the middle mouse button scroll is faster and more efficient. Would I be wrong?

Yes - you should try and use function hotkeys for important parts of the map and double tap hotkeys on hatcheries / units to center camera on them, and when you need to view someplace not hotkeyed use the mini-map to move.

I have a question; Alot of protoss are now using an immortal sentry push against 11 minute max, anything that cna counter this? ie; mass hydras or somthing?

Hydralisks will do very well against an immortal/sentry timing, but it is very difficult to get hydras out in enough numbers to kill this push without risking losing to a collosus push. The best way to defend against this is to go roach/ling and be harrassing his army and doing runbys as often as possible. As soon as he leaves his base, you should be poking with roaches and lings to bait FF and be trying to run by into the natural.

If you scout a spire being built/completed, how do you determine if the zerg is going mutas or corrupters for brood tech? Last game I saw a spire and put up a bunch of turrets, but the spire was just there so that it could later be a greater spire. low diamond zerg here, so don't take this as gospel, but I think that lair/hive is pretty telling. Hive takes as long as spire to build, so if zerg goes for BL, they will start hive and plant spire at the same time, and then upgrade to greater spire as the spire and hive pops at the same time. While if they go for mutas, they will in general not want to spend gas on infestation pit and hive. So I guess a simple rule of thumb is: lair --> mutas, hive --> BLs. Specially if spire and hive are matched. If spire JUST started, the zerg may not have gas to do hive just yet, so you can scan lair/hive again a bit later to make sure.

Not quite a strategy question, but does anybody know how to change the way the pylon radius looks in game? Up until today the radius I had was the full power field, now all of a sudden it just shows a dotted line... I haven't changed any graphics settings, and I've since tried turning all graphics up to almost max and it makes no difference... Google has not helped me either. Any advice please?

Options >> Graphics >> Models: High
edit: Didn't read second half. That's the option that changes pylon radius appearance. I'd try repairing SC2 or reinstalling entirely.

Thanks, I just restarted my computer and sc2 and it seems to have fixed itself. Weird since I restarted sc2 once before that and it didn't fix it but now its fine

This is my first post I hope im doing it right :p
But anyways im an silver protoss tryin to lear and think i have prett good builds in pvz and pvt but i still havent found any good good build in pvp tough i always loses to 4 gates or cheese when i try to do get an early expand and all the other builds are verry 50-50 in sucess anyone got anytips on a good pvp bild that let me gtnan expand ?
I also have problems defending one basing terrans that atack with marine maurauders at like 6-8 minutes. What units should i get to defend ?
|
Hi guys! I have played game against the terran player. He 200/200 marines and medivacs. So I got 12 ultralisks and rest of my supply to banelings. I destroyed his army and he destroyed my. After this I had to wait for my gas to do more ultralisks. But I didnt even start with doing this 'cose my opponent after 2-3 minutes havae come back to me with 150/200. AAnd here is my question: Is there any cheaper strategy to beat terrans not only by superexpensiv ultra+bannelings?
|
That question is more suited for the Zerg Help Me Thread.
You can get Infestor/Ling/Ultra with a lot of upgrades and only a few Banelings and it will kill Marine/Medivac armies, and you can fungal+Infested Terran the Terran's Medivacs. Your infestors will also regenerate energy for the next battle, and you can remake a ton more Zerglings without waiting for your gas to build more Ultralisks.

what is the easiest way to deal with baneling as terran when you have low apm. (i generally end up at around 40 apm(silver league))
|
Go Mech. Bio and Bio-Mech require much higher APM.

I'm in the midst of switching my inject style from the "55v, 66v, etc." to the more "hardcore" style using camera positions and all of my queens on 5 in the hopes that it will pay off further down the road when I hit masters (I'm diamond). I thought it would make it easier to defend my bases in the case that I lose a queen, since I used to have to click on the minimap every time my designated inject queen died. Do I have the right idea? Or should I just stick with the method that I was already comfortable with?

Masters Zerg here and I've tried the backspace method with it rebound to spacebar, but I found that it was harder to use in the lategame because you end up with queens walking all over the map rather than injecting. I went back to the 66v 77v method because I could jump to each base easily until the queen died, then I could use the spacebar to get there if the queen was dead. It all comes down to what you are more comfortable with.

Are you losing to Baneling busts early on or just in general you are losing to them more than you should? Full on Mech is definitely the easiest as people have pointed out, but the key is always going to be Tanks, and how you split up your army.
Practice mimicking how the pro's position their armies. Always tanks spread out, marines spread out in clusters (10-20 per group) that way you should be trading evenly or in most cases coming out ahead.

If you want an easy band-aid, add marauders/and or Thors to your compositions and make sure you at the very least move you marines behind them in fights. This will harm you in the long run, though.
