This is assuming a regular 2 gas stalker zlot sentry 4 gate where toss chronos the warpgate a lot
You make drones until you need lings or roaches to defend against the 4 gate push. In which case you would start to pump out lings and/or roaches to defend. If you feel that you can't make a good enough defense with the units you can get, get 1 or 2 spine crawlers.
Scout with lings and ovies, and when you see that he's pushing out (and possibly kills your scouts in the process), you better be ready to defend.
From past experience, I would say make units before the 7 minutes mark, or else it's too late.

a lot of games against protoss I find that they wall in with cannons and then throw down 4 stargates and make 20 void rays or some ridiculous amount, as zerg ive tried baneling busts on the cannons, mass hydra, and lots of drops using overlords but everything seems to get picked off by the insane amount of voidrays. Any suggestions??????

void colo blink stalker VR phoenix sentry chargelot: what do I build to counter this comp as zerg?
|
hey all, big question:
as T, u need siege tanks to counter mass banelings etc etc. If zerg combines(which he should i guess) banes with lots of lings, do tanks auto attack banelings as a higher priority target, or do u need to manually aim some banes, possibly shift+attacking as wel for maximum efficiencyl? Sometimes I think I have enough tanks but in the end I get surrounded easily. ty

is that 2 different unit compositions?
Void ray Colossus Blink stalker is really hard to stop once the protoss maxes out. I think it may actually be impossible maybe if he has a low colossus count you could try and run a couple ultras in with a million banelings and you might kill his army. For this army you really need to keep trading units and keep his colossus count low. Keeping the void ray count low wouldn't hurt either.
Is VR phoenix sentry chargelot another composition?? I've never seen it before I couldn't imagine it doing well against roach hydra or roach corruptor or even hydra corruptor

pretty darn sure they have the same target priority
shift targeting banes can't be a bad thing but you need to make sure your marines dont die to banelings

"Oh, you wanna turtle on a base or two? That's cool. I'll take the rest of the map then" Expand. A lot. As a Bronze Zerg, I see this a lot. They rarely do any kind of harassment, even phoenixes on my Queens / Overlords.
Take up a lot of bases. Don't grab your 7th before the 8 minute mark, but you should be on a lot more than just three by the time he has 20-40 voids to push out with.
Once you have the economy, you need to pick something to make. Or somethings. If he's going PURE voidray, you could try Hydra or mutas. Hydralisk are cheaper and will decimate Protoss if he doesn't get colossus. Muta are extremely mobile and are very scary when you have large numbers of them.
Do not forget upgrades! Turtle-ers that let you macro are a God-send. By the time he has 20-40 Voidrays, you should have maxed upgrades, a maxed army, and the resources to remax in about 30 seconds. At that point, just throw armies at him until he dies.
When you kill the initial Voidray push, you can be fairly sure that he won't be remaking them all any time soon, so you can run into his base with just about anything. (Hell, Cracklings would work if you got minerals to spare)
This is all assuming that your Turtling Protoss do what mine do: cannon around their main and an expo, and just sit. If they play at a higher level - e.g., harass, expand more, etc. - then you will want to do something a little different, but that's beyond my pay grade.
Protip: Banelings against Toss are rare. ZvT and ZvZ see them much more often.
Hope I helped.

I would say it like Day9 says it, but that would be inappropriate. ;D but artosis would say to expand. his answer to everything is to just go effing expand! maybe throw down some cannons and expo? the zerg will probably either just have lings for a while...or have almost nothing while droning up hardcore

I know this may seem like a dumb question but here goes.
during a ZvT. how do you overcome a ramp block when they hav MMM and tanks at top?

This is a situational question. There is no simple answer to this.

Is this a joke? How do I kill an opponent who builds units?
My question: Do shield & air armor upgrades affect Interceptors?

So if i had hydras and lings/banes trying to push the ramp. by the time i targeted the supply depot, all my lings/banes are dead, and only a few hydras left, which were picked off by the tanks and mmm.
so do i just need more units? or is there a different approach i shouldve taken rather than targetting 1 building.

Oh you want to attack up the ramp against Siege tanks? You are not supposed to kill that once they are out. You need to attack before Tanks are out or not at all.
|
If this doesn't belong here, I apologise.
My question is this: When playing PvZ, I usually do a 3-gate sentry expand into stargate play. After taking my expansion, I would like put some pressure on the zerg, to stop him from droning as hard as he would like. However, in about half (perhaps even more often) of my games, the zerg doesn't drone up. He masses a huge amount of lings, and waits for me to move out of my base, at which point he either surrounds and kill my army, or runs into my expo/base, and I'm dead. On the other hand, if he does drone hard, and I sit in my base scared, I end up behind on resources.
In summary: Is there a good way to tell whether a zerg is massing lings or drones after taking their first expo?

so wat if he doesnt move his tanks out? do i just sit back and wait til he moves them?

In beta the button to inject larva was R instead of V. But now R is burrow. So my question is, what was burrow during the beta? V?

if you want to bust a defended ramp, you need banelings, and he can't have siege tanks.

I just played the new GSL map Tal'darim altar LE from the blizzard map pool with a friend, and noticed that a stalker can blink over the little "gap" from you 3rd to your main and visa versa. Is this intended?
