When I had first started playing Starcraft 2, I instantly became infatuated with the Nydus Network. So much so, that when I was in Silver I decided I would make my very own build order designed around using the Nydus Network early game to apply pressure to your opponent, kill some workers, expand, and gain map control with speedlings. I am now in Platinum league and I've still used this with success. So if you Zergs are bored and like the Nydus Network like me, give this build a try in your next ladder match. (Well, only if you find a blindspot.)

SPECIAL EDITION: [PLATINUM] [url blocked]
Here's the replay of me using Spine Crawlers with my Nydus Rush build!
BUILD
Your generally goal is to concentrate on making a large number of slings early in the game, and then getting a very early Lair, a Nydus Network, and then using your first overlord to pop on the tunnel in an obscure location in their main. You then flood your speedlings in, destroy their workers, and perhaps even their army if your opponent was going for an early economy sort of game plan.
9/10 Overlord (2) 10/10 Gas 13/18 Spawning Pool 15/18 Overlord (3) 16/18 Queen (Tech to Lair immediately when Queen finishes.) 21/26 Overlord (4) 21/34 Lings* 28/34 Overlord (5) 40/42 Overlord (6) 40/42 Drones 42/50 Expand
*From the start of the build, to this point, make drones. At this point and onward, make lings until getting to 40/42.
Helpful hints for using the Nydus Network!
The Nydus Network is absolutely wonderful for expanding to islands. You freak out your opponent with the roar and get them in cautious mode even though you're just expanding.
The Nydus also works wonderfully for moving from base to base very quickly. Not much need for a vastly spread out force when they can pop out in any of your bases with a single command!
When using the build, immediately after the first attack with the Nydus, use that opening to safely create an expansion while you destroy your opponent's economy.
Any questions, comments, or criticism?

Ah, also. I hate to double post, but I wasn't sure where this thread could go here on TL, so I thought I'd just put it in the general SC2 forum.
|
Um sc2 strategy probably.
|
Probably Strategy.
I've actually used Nydus to snipe tech and back up multiple times, I haven't tried rushing it but it's a very useful psychological tool. This build would probably work very well.
|
Eh, I thought about putting it in Strategy, but then I didn't know what to tag it as. I felt like, since I'm not in Master league it'd be pretentious of me to tag it as a Guide or something. =(
And thank you, B.

Theres a strategy forum
<== that way,
as to general advice, check liquipedia to see if your build already exists. This build isnt really anything new and you can substitute the lings for roaches and generally perform a better allin. Also including the lines
"MORE LIIINGS. ??? Profit!"
Does not give much credence to your so called build.
|
It's not an all-in. Just a means of applying pressure and killing workers and running your lings back through the Tunnel.
Just checked, didn't see anything like it by the titles.
Also, I apologize for my sense of humor. =( I didn't make this build for it to be used in tournaments, I made it because I thought it'd be interesting.

Sorry to point this out, but it looks like you have 16 drones. That's more less drones than a 7RR.... Am I missing something? Do you actually pump drones instead inbetween the queen and the nydus maybe? It looks like 16 drones --> lings to me, which definitely is allin imo

I have it down pretty well in game, I'll have to go try it again to hammer out the details.

When you cease to do everything else except make more attacking units then yes i"m sorry it is rather all-in because you cannot really transition out of it. THe point of it being all-in or not is not really the issue the problem is you didnt provide details that are helpful for someone not trying this before what happens if your nydus gets scouted? etc

This is a work in progress that I'd like people to try out and maybe make their own strategies from or perhaps give them more ideas for utilizing the Nydus Network.
EDIT: Also, I will refine the BO with much more details and gradually add to the description of the build.

Strategy forum is not just for 100% done strategy posts theres nothing wrong with asking for help with something you're working on in the strategy forum.

I doubt this is ever going to work out of platinum. It's a super early pool and gas and you stay on one base, so after scouting the other side is probably going to play defensive.
I've personally tried fiddling with builds for Nydus and my findings are that they are best used as a response after something like a 4 gate.

I love how everyone is starting to love the nydus worm now that Day[9] did a daily on it. I always loved it, and I LOVE builds like these. Nydus's win games, easily.

I dunno, I think it will work on me once or twice tbh. Especially on a map like Metalopolis, if I go forge fe. O_o. maybe more drones and getting roaches isn't a bad idea?

Every one of these games could have just as easily been won by a-moving your zerglings. I'm sorry, against any half decent opponent this build will never, ever work.

The build has been revised. It isn't done, but it is now a bit more refined.

All of these replays, save for the latest one where I tried a modification of the build by making Spine Crawlers in the enemy's base, were all done in Silver League.
I will attempt to use the build more frequently in Platinum to try and get some decent replays atleast at that level.

ive been trying to incorperate nyduses into my play style aswel, but i can never get the time right.
also, op's bo fails if they (opinion) 1.shoot it when its coming 2. shoot all the lings.
maybe less slings, more drones, and a later speed(maybe when you start the nydus?), might make for an easier economy.
im ultra noob though, what are your thoughts on it?

well i only watched first game, but u could have a moved up his ramp with ur lings and won. another tip, u threw up ur nydus network in fron of his reaper before chasing it out. You showed your nydus network, therefore negating the whole surprise aspect of this build. Also you cut drones at 14, making this build extremely all innish.
that said i like it for low level play and i suggest that u keep getting gas until u are at a lair with 200 gas then switch probes back to minerals to pump lings, also maybe put a ling at the bottom of terrans ramp, its something i like to do as it tells me when he is about to move out.
