Ok so i recently switched from terran to zerg because terran wasnt that fun anymore..
The first thing i noticed against terran especially is that i am having a really hard time scouting, i lost for example to a 2 port banshee play even tho i put some spore crawlers down because i thought something like that would come, how would you try and scout it?
Thanks for the help

You could always sack an overlord and move it into their base.

how is going brood lords zvz not stupid? the guy who does not get brood lords spends less gas since he only needs corruptors, and obviously can get more than you have, so all the brood lords can accomplish is wasting you gas. sorry 5 broodlords is only 10 food. honestly with how strong infestors are zvz, broodlords are actually pretty good. If you morph them stupidly or something sure but they are actually good. I have won my fair share of zvz's against good players using broodlords. did it vs catz on a crazy shakuras game and if I didn't go broodlords would have gone on for another 50 minutes. We both couldn't attack into eachother due to both of us having like 20 infestors lol. 5 broodlords are 20 supply bud

Ye i thought or know about that but for example the time to scout a fourgate is about 6 minute mark , and i think this is so early.. because without overlord speed you probably just sacrifice your overloard..

100 minerals is nothing compared to the wealth of information you could potentially get.

thats right nooby me, still point still stands it doesn't really matter because with how strong infestors are if you have 10+ infestors and you are making broodlords and he attacks into you, you should hold as long as you know how to press F and click on his huge chunk of his army.

im not arguing about supply. I'm arguing about gas. You seem to assume that you make brood lords and he has no answer and you win. in reality he will make corruptors for half the gas and kill your brood lords.
I have never lost to brood lords, in fact I think I won a lot of games simply because my opponent handed me a huge gas advantage by making brood lords. I realize you can't send a roach army into 20 infestors, but there are other ways around that... drops, nydus, burrow, whatever.
I'm only mid masters tho, and maybe games like sheth vs morrow seem so pointless to me just because i'm terribad

Thanks for the help try incorporating an extra queen or 2 into your play. you already had great gamesense to get detection incase of the banshee, but if you can get say another 2 queens out (which will cost you next to nothing because they're pure minerals and larvae free) you'll crush those attacks with transfuse AND you'll have insane creep spread and map vision.
queens are baller as fuck.

Hi all, anyone know a good replay ZvT that shows how to hold multiples drops? It so scary....
|
So I've been struggling in ZvZ for the past few weeks, I'm just completely lost.
I'd appreciate any tips people can give me on openings or just a play style that I can try out, I usually try to FE on four player maps but even if I manage to do damage, I either let them sit back too much or I make a horrible mistake and lose the game, or die to an attack later on. I'm not sure if it's my macro or poor unit control, or both even.
Here are a few replays, I'd appreciate any advice people could give me.
TheDarche vs Kepler on Backwater Gulch Kepler vs PhyrePhox on Shakuras Plateau Bink vs Kepler on Backwater Gulch
I'm Kepler.

Thanks , yes i thought about that as i always make a third queen normally just for creep spread cause its hell important , i know what you mean but its still hard to scout it i reckon .. I think i just try to play more safe...

What is the safest opening build order for ZvZ atm? I know there still really isn't any standard but I would like to know what you guys think the most flexible non-risk BO there is to use in ZvZ.
I want to focus on winning consistently and be in power of any situation, whether it be quick banelings, roach all-in, surprise mutas, etc.
Right now I'm doing the 14/14 speedling expand, and baneling nest if I do not scout an early roach warren. I just want to do whatever I can not to die early game without gimping myself.

Go check out Dimaga vs MVP from the GSL super tournament a few weeks back. edit: You want their game on Tal'Darim Altar.

I would like to have some input how to react vs forge fe.Usually the protoss can go nexus first and im already behind, and if I drone to much and take early third to keep up,their warp gate timings kill me.
When do I take the third?
How about lair timing?
How many drones till I stop to pump out units?

So I played a protoss today on metalopolis close spawns. Personally I hate close spawns on metal, its pretty much near impossible to take a safe third unless you severely cripple the toss early game so I find that if the toss secures his expo, the game tends to pretty much be in the toss' favor.
Anyways I ended up going 14 14 and then macroed out about 7 roaches and then backed it up with speedlings and pushed and then expoed behind the push. Lucky for me he decided to stargate expand without any sentries and without chroning out his void ray so I caught him with his pants down and won the match. However he raged pretty hard at my all in saying it took no skill, whereas I argued that playing a straight up macro game on metal without any early game pressure on the toss would undoubtedly put me at a disadvantage.
tl;dr: my question basically is without applying any early game pressure is it possible to beat a toss in a "straight up" game on metalopolis?

Not in close positions.
You don't have a viable 3rd base, and Protoss can easily expand into your shared 3rd base.
There are cute timings you can aim for, but you will not win a macro game in close positions.
In cross positions, or close air positions, metal is one of the easier maps for Zerg to excel on because of the difficulty involved in Protoss securing a 3rd of his own.

You take your third before 30 supply.
His warpgate timing attack will hit I believe at about 9-10 minutes. You should start making units at about 8:15-8:30 unless you scout something different.
I start my lair at about 6:30-7 minutes.
Just remember his 6-7 gate all in if he is doing that won't hit until about 9 minutes. If you start making units at 8:15-8:30 and don't engage in a bad spot you should be able to hold (and not supply block yourself!)

Thanks, helps alot.If he goes air after his FE I also feel kinda lost.if I build spores at all bases I lose alot of drones ,and hydras come alittle bit late.just pump queens just in case he builds air?

No building spores 2 at the third base is really all you need, queens will do fine at the main and natural. If you see a lot of phoenix's then you want spores, I do put 1 spore at main and natural, 2 at third if I see that voidray/phoenix combo or I see he's doing it. Don't need that many with queen support while waiting for hydra's.

<- goldnoob having issues with infestorling vs the Protoss deathball (at work atm or I'd be trying stuff myself) I've been trying out the following; 9 Scout Extractor Trick 13 Pool 15 Queen 17 Scoutlings 18 Expand 18 Gas @100 Gas lingspeed @ 30 Gas evo chamber @ Evo Chamber +1 Melee @ 75 Gas Evo Chamber @ Evo Chamber +1 armour @100 gas lair ~40 drones get rest of gas @ Lair Infestor Pit, +2/+2
Would 14Pool/14Gas be better for this? Should I go an earlier lair and later upgrades? Should I suicide lings to try to keep his sentry count down as when he eventually pushes I get forcefielded and roasted by collossi?
EDIT: Making things more clear
