Just take another base and, assuming Toss has expanded, take a quick third in your nat. If toss decides to play one base, you can be in bad shape since you're so spread out, but I typically feel like its a risk worth taking since you auto-win if his push doesn't kill you.

anyway i was wondering why if i had a team of queens why can't i use transfuse on their icons? you could do that sort of thing in warcraft III, its harder to tell who needs healing using the main screen than just that main bar...

You should turn on all Health Bars all the time. Or at least just selected units.

Perhaps the OP would like to expand on his post? I just assumed he was having trouble opening. Jungle Basin is NOT just a nother map, there's no 3rd base that's remotely viable in both matchups, so what I'm asking for is 2-base all-ins, so that I can stop playing terran because I'm like 11-1 as terran at the same rating my zerg was and it's pretty sad, seeing as I've played maybe 20 games in total with them.

From my perspective: Roaches will have a much bigger impact on ZvT than anyone seems to realize. That extra bit of range means more roaches are able to hit a thor at any one time. Since the patch I've been going roach/muta against meching Terrand and I don't think I've lost yet... ZvZ feels like its been turned upside down. I can't seem to win with banelings anymore. This actually triggered an 8 game losing streak for me (wtf everyone is Zerg now?) causing me to tank over 100 points on ladder. I see ZvZ evolving into a much more macro oriented mirror match now. ZvP doesn't feel a whole helluva lot different to me. I've been trying to use more roach plays, but I don't seem to be having much success. I think the other side is that every Toss is expecting roaches, so they're going immortal/stalker right off the bat. Late game ZvP feels terrible to me. I never feel like I'm able to deny expos, and playing a macro game with a Toss always seems to end in me losing. I've barely noticed the Fungal change... Ultras just die so fast, that even with rooted stalkers, I'm not able to win big fights. In general I just think my ZvP's in a bad place right now... Would love to hear everyone else's thoughts.

As for ultras, you really should be able to dominate stalkers with ultra/ling/fungal...maybe it's the immortals taht are killing the ultras? Mutaling can really hamper their ability to expo, so once you get 3 bases and have your cavern building, you can just save money till the cavern pops and get like 5+ ultras to go with your ling/muta. If anything, ZvP shouldn't really have changed much except that if they go phoenix, roaches are really super effective. P can't just blindly go fast stargate any more. So the roach adds a simple element to your game that should cause some mind issues with toss and force them to scout. That said, I'd still go muta ling. Or at least muta/ling/roach. Mutas are just so powerful.

The greatest effect is really when you have to fight and they start putting force fields or when fighting against Collosi because it was TOO DAMN hard to hit the Collosi when there were many stalkers surrounding, now is still hard but not impossible. ZvZ, doubt theres much change actually, obviously they are a lil better but i doubt theyll change anything drastically, maybe blig busting the ramp against a Roach defense becomes a lil harder. ZvT now its easier to retreat.

Is there any merit to this idea? Otherwise I'm gonna keep doing Queen/Hydra/Infestor for massive amounts of fun.

I tried one game with roach/festor and didn't do so well... I'm really excited to see what the pros bust out in the GSL this weekend.

I've been mostly losing to mass roach and 8 pool 2 crawler. Against mass roach, my thinking is just go pure speedling, get expo, tech. The problem is that once there is a critical mass of roaches, I lose. I just don't know how many roaches they make, so it is hard for me to tell how to drone up. I'm a very macro oriented player, and I'm fine at the droning game ZvP/T, but ZvZ...man this one gets me. Also 8 pool 2 crawler I'm not sure how to deal with it if I don't find them. Hey the 6-8 pool with crawlers is actually pretty easy to deal with even with a 14-15 pool. What you need to do is once you see his crawlers going down, attack with all of your drones. Make sure you have around 150 minerals so you can produce lings once your pool finishes. If you don't then its ok to leave 1-2 drones mining. From here its all up to micro...put 3 drones on each crawler, maybe 4 if you responded late. He will most likely kite with the lings to buy time for his crawlers to finish. Once he realizes that you are target firing them, he will fight. If he is gosu, he will take down 3-4 drones. At this point your lings should be popping, and after you finish the crawlers off you should resume mining at a 5-8 drone advantage.

1) When do you normally get your third and fourth gas? This is in relation to a standard ling muta ultra type build. I get my first at 14 (So that speed is being researched as soon as the pool is done). 2nd when my Lair is about 1/3 done.( that's around 21/23 food). After that i don't really have an arbitory figure for it, and i don't know when is the best time to do this to support say a Muta/infestor/midgame. FYI i would like to eventually get Ultra too.. Do you guys do it based on the amount of drones you have? or is it purely situational? 2) The 3rd base. I'm assuming that you base this on both economy AND game situation.. so when is the best time for this? Again is there a hard and fast figure i can go buy, or is it purely situational? I have trouble with this as i get a bit worried about over extending myself, but i do feel the need for 2 more geysers if i'm going ultra in the late game. I hope these questions aren't too nooby, and thanks in advance for your help.

For 5th and 6th geyser: Amount of drones obviously theres no point in having 2 geysers without minning, also theres no point in having them mining pure gas unless you are going heavy on mutas and have a big amount of drones minning from your main/nat. If you want a rule of thumb 4 drones = take gas 9 drones takes the second. That way by the time the geyser finished you can have 3 drones on gas and 5 drones on mins. (asumming you started making drones when building the geyser. 3rd base WHENEVER YOU CAN. Obviously the best spot is when you are putting pressure but even if the opponent is putting pressure on you still must make an "opening" and take a third or youll LOSE sooner than later. Edit: If it reads kinda confusing is because im literally falling asleep right now -_-, damn melatonin.

If he is sitting on one base, after I have decent saturation on the minerals and am confident I can hold whatever he has brewing up (scouted him). 2) Also situational. If you 15 hatch and he goes forge FE its legitimate to get it up around 28-36 food. Dont be afraid to take that third if you feel comfortable in the slightest bit. The trouble only comes when you decide to make 24 drones all at once to saturate it. If you feel like it's possible to pump army and go end the game, but arent sure thats the best move, EXPAND.

So essentially gas is based on either A) being ahead, or B) No clear and present danger. Otherwise simply get gas once I've saturated my minerals thanks! Obviously this isn't definitive, but it makes alot more sense to me now.

In the early game I have only 2 lings to scout in front of his base and pump drone. I dont want to send overlord to any expos though since I'm afraid of phoenix.
