In ZvP when Protoss stays on one base I know a timing attack is coming. I need spines and roaches to defend. How many drones do I need to build before pumping out roaches? How many spines do I need for most pushes?

I generally do it so if he hasnt expanded by 6.30 ingame time I start making alot of units. If he then does expand, i just go attack him with mass ling or ling roach(whatever i felt like making). In sense of drone count, its probably 1 and a bit to 1 and a half saturated bases.

^ I believe a 4 gate will hit before 6:30, and you should've cut drones a good 15 supply before where you'd be if you jsut droned uped at 6:30. You'd just die if you were that late. 5:30 is the timing for 3 gate expo, not 6:30.

Against 4 gate you should cut drones around 22-30 (30 really pushing it). Against 4 gate robo or blink, try to get up to 40 drones. Against SG/DT, drone the fuck up and just get that spore out.

It also depends on the map. In regards to 4 gate, if it's a map like Shakuras, where you have that choke, 2 spines into about 5 with speedling support if necessary, is great, and you can really make it as late as when you see him push out and have that 'oh shit' moment. On maps like Arid Plateau, you must make a roach warren about 28 supply, maybe 34 at the latest (which would require a spine and speedlings to hold before roaches come, and pooling money and making extra overlords so you can make a bunch all at once), or you will die.

Against 4 gate robo, you want lots of queens, and heavier on speedlings, and less on spines or roaches. Against blink, you want heavier on lings, but still lots of roaches (really just treat it like 4 gate, for the most part, as you need to cut drones at about same time).

If you see toss hasn't expanded by 5:30 and you see lots of gateways in his base with an overlord sac (read: not stargate or DT), then you need to start pumping shit out and getting that spine up, and starting the roach warren, if you didn't figure out what was up already.

Hello guys, i am strugling on my overlord positioning in the whole map, i am having the bad habit to put all my overlords in my base. I would like to know if someone have a map with possible positions for my overlords (with all the races). Because i cant scout or reac propperly against drops.

To snipe the warp prism it typically comes with, and transfusing spines/other queens.

I've had a couple of games in Arid plateau where protoss go DT expand and I put down some spores and spines, but they still manage to get past my natural and into my main unnoticed, killing a good amount of drones or even the spore because i dont have units to defend in my main. So my qustion is what's a good spore/spine placement in arid plateau so the ramp and the back of the natural's mineral line are covered?

Well overlord spread is very important in zvt (zvp isn't worth the risk early due to stargate openings). Zerg vs Zerg it is very useful as well but you also dont' want to put to many out or mutalisks will hurt a lot.

In terms of overlord placement what I do is when I make an overlord (or overlords) with the egg automatically selected I click to an area I want him or I shift click him in spots to go where I want so he goes a safe route.

If you can get in the habbit of doing this you will see you drops coming a mile away (this is assuming you look at minimap ). I do this in all match ups I always click where I want them to go while they are still in egg form. No reason not to and worth it imo I would recommend giving it a shot.

I don't have a picture of good spots in maps but I can tell you spots with high ground, no ground underneath and places where marines would rarely go are good spots.

That's what i am going to study in the 1v1 pool maps in this season, because i dont know (yet) the good spots.

1. don't play on arid plateau
2. put a spore and spine near the edge of the ramp, to help you more put an evo chamber on base of the ramp so he has to walk around it to make it up, and next to the evo can be the spore and spine, spore being closer to the natural. if he swings all the way around pull your drones and have them go all to the closest safe mineral or to the closest gas (they'll stack there), should give you enough time to get units coming

In ZvT I usually open 14 hatch 14 pool if I'm on a map where 2rax is possible. I have trouble against a proxy 11-11 2rax, I was wondering if its possible to hold that all-in with hatch first or if you have to go 14pool?

possible with hatch first, but idk if you good enough because it does invovle pulling drones to match svc count hold off until lings come and if you can hold off until a spine is built in your natural or whatever you feel safe.

you can with the 14pool, just pull drones of gas if it gets really hairy

I have a quick question. Against a FFE protoss, what should I expect from 2 gas play? a quick 3rd gas? and a quick all-4 gases? I usually sacrifice my overlords for further intel but knowing this info will further help me even more.

an FFE is usually made just to have a safe natural already built since Zerg can pressure it pretty well on the bottom of the ramp. so treat it like a normal match just the timing and anything towards you are going to be slower. for the most part.
3 gas or all 4 before full saturation means is going for something fishy. he'll be over producing gas but mostly its about his buildings, robo could mean quick colossi, twilight would mean archons unless he's massing DTs. 3 gas would be air imo

but you usually sac overlords to see buildings because early saturation on a natural means he wouldn't attack for at least 3 minutes

2 Gas - Some form of gateway pressure (4gate zlot voidray, 6gate ect)
3 Gas - Anything, sack 2 overlords
Early 4 Gas - 2Stargate
Later 4Gas - Anything, sack 2 overlords

Typically when I see 3 Gas I still assume that some form of gateway all in is coming, typically with Blink or some other form of tech, and this will be confirmed by my overlords.

Edit:
A late 3rd and 4th gas typically indicates that the Protoss wants to go into a Macro game, take a 3rd ect.
What I do against that is max on roaches by 12 mins and deny their 3rd whilst taking my 4th.

no fucking clue what i did wrong here, zvp on tal adrim, i scout forge FE into 7 gates, he never attacks, i make units to defend and am way behind, i max on roach ling and he still crushes me.

your upgrades were behind, you didn't scout his 3rd until you have made tonnes of units and noticed the push isn't coming.
If this happens again, pressure his third with your units

So I just played a game where I had 3 bases and 65 drones/6 gas against a 2 base toss with 49 probes. Is it normal that my three base roach/hydra loses so badly to 2 base +2 blink stalker with ~6 sentries? The engagements weren't even close at all -.-

How was your spending? Did you get roach speed and hydra range? Creep spread? Money low? Your own upgrades?

I'd say that either his micro was godly or you made some mistake along the way. Lings are good to add in against blink.
