This has further prompted my choice to be mainly a terran player. However how would u deal with immortals as ive seen replays and the immortals always seem to beat through the defences of the opposite army. Stimmed marines, preferably with a medivac, or banshees makes short work of Immortals. Basicly, anything with a fast attackspeed will do.

Very nice read. I actually sent this to a friend to help him out. Similar stuff for the other races would be awesome too.
Thanks a bunch, excellent post!!

A lot of my early game losses come from trying to branch out in too much tech. Infantry upgrades/tech, factory upgrades/tech and starport upgrades/tech are all good in their own way, but the timing often wont let you develop all of them. Turtling up and teching is a double edged sword, it gives your opponment free reign on the map unless you can really surprise him with an offensive cliff drop at his natural (depend on map).
Mid to late game you want to make sure you have your macro structures up, to avoid stashing minerals and gas, getting your army wiped out by a slightly bigger force, or simply not having time to rebuild. (again couple losses from not having a smoother transition from 2 to 6+ rax, etc.)
Constant agression, if you end up even or positive on your kills/losses is beneficials in many ways, its a scouting opportunity and it will force your opponment to turtle up, or force his hand to strike unorganized. Not to mention its more entertaining than building up a huge army...! I think terran playstyle will evolve (if it hasnt already), to a defensive/surgical strikes approach.
As a final note, today's showdown between TL and team EG really showed how map knowledge is important as well, it should affect your gameplan/unit choices.

Awesome guide, keep up the good work!

nice read, i like the unit breakdowns!
I noticed you are still writing about TvP
Day9 daily #101 was a show about a few games where Kawaii Rice played TvP and showed how strong marines can be and also a way to FE against a common protoss opening.

Added: PvT Coming soon: More replays! (possibly tonight- depending on my level of girlfriend aggro).

Awesome thread!
I'm only 16 copper and this is helping me sooo much. My win count has gone up considerably since I read this

Made a quick reference version of this guide.
I put all the build orders in a more print ready form so my nooby-self can have them close at hand for reference.
Feel free to use this as well, thought I would throw it back. Credit obviously to Zoltan, helping terran noobs since 2010!

Outstanding write up for to the OP. Really going to help me vs toss. I finally got a key last night so I was able to play through my placement matches after playing against very hard 7.0 AI in 1v1 and 1v3 for the last month or two. Turns out I suck against people and got placed in bronze(I play terran). I have really really worked on getting my economy up and constantly spamming of units, scouting and expanding. Even tho I have watched alot of replays of good players. I have a hard time with micro(and macro). Without having each type of my army on its own hotkey, its hard to make them all work together. It takes more time then I would like to find a small unit like a marine and doubleclick to give them group commands. And when I hotkey my units, usually my production/scouting suffers.Anyway please feel free to add me in game. SpaceNavy.Striker

a very comprehensive and informative guide!

New replays going up right now while game is patching; just some of my placement matches from most recent reset. Kinda interesting games, but watch mostly for the strategy, i play pretty badly in one of these lol
Edit: they are under the 8 rax proxy Reapers spoiler - under the reapers spoiler-

Another small update this morning- i broke down the 8 rax proxy reaper strat and put it under the unit breakdown for the reapers. Hope you all enjoy it!
