No offense or anything, but if this were brood war, your build would be considered cheese. He's found a two hatch build that has just enough early zerglings/spine crawlers to hold off your early aggression. The problem is that you haven't.

It is like in brood war, where protoss expands, puts up cannons and then a newbie runs his zerglings into them. It is pointless.

I'm not terran, but my first instinct would be, if you think you are playing a good zerg, just scv scout and if you see two hatches, go ahead and transition into some sort of expand build. It'll probably involve straight up marines and some bunker play at your expo to deal with zerglings. And you'll probably have to cut scvs a bit to get the cash to put it up.

Thanks for posting the reps (zerg player here). I like how in the 2nd replay Davie uses his queens initial energy to spawn a creep tumor to create a path between main/natural. I never even considered using the initial energy for anything but larvae, was great to see. I still prefer 1 hatch queen roach pressure into hydra (or muta)/xpansion vs terran, but copying anything from David Kim can't be bad.

Expand earlier, but for the most part, FIND A COUNTER TO MUTAS AND WORK IT INTO YOUR BUILD. Both times the muta harass tore you apart. The second time he only had FOUR MUTAS and he still was running in and out messing with you, and you'd spent hundreds on missile turrets. I understand Thor is a half decent muta counter since he's the only Terran anti-air with an advantage against bio. But for the most part he just out-resourced you. To be expected from a player with so much more experience with the game. Super thanks for the replays though, they were entertaining.

I think if you're worried about muta harass you need to research stim as soon as you can. The research time for it is 140 seconds which I think needs to be reduced. It was only 50 seconds in SC1.

i've seen a lot of posts concerned with mutalisk. i like the idea that mutalisk are just straight up overpowered in SC2. in SC1 you've really gotta throw in a lot of time and effort in order to access the overpowered mutalisk feature. if that's been simplified in sc2, that really saves me a lot of mechanics practice.
