The E-Sports Vision Mapmaking Team is one of the premiere foreign mapmaking teams. Originally formed in the beta of Starcraft 2 under a different name, our members continue work together to create the best melee maps available for professional play. This thread will contain the most up-to-date information about all of our competitive maps and the members of the team. Any tournament is welcome to use these maps with no need to ask permission!

Below is a cumulative list of our finished maps. They are separated into Tournament maps (maps currently used in tournaments) and New maps (maps not yet used in tournaments). All maps have their layouts and aesthetics finished to the degree where it is ready for tournament use- but they are subject to minor changes. Work in progress maps will be excluded from this list until they are finished (but can be found on TeamLiquid by searching ESV).
Tournament Maps

Pending MotM results, we will take the chance to remove maps that aren't used.
Feel like your whole team should all just collaborate on one map with each person focusing on one thing (whoevers best) and make one SUPER map haha cause tbh the whole ESV team working on a map together = GSL Map.
We're all good at different things but we have a bit too many members for us to all collaborate . We do help each other out on the maps though. For example, Monitor is always fixing up my lame deco for my maps.
Wow, pretty sick that you are actually sponsored by Steelseires as a map making team. You should have yearly or monthly tournaments with only your maps being used, that would be a good way to get your name out (and the sponsor's name out too). And as mentioned before, it would be awesome if you all collaborated and made one perfectly balanced map for GSL or other tournament use!

I'd love to play around decoing your maps aswell. Would be fun :D

And is there a reason why Scorching Dawn isn't up there?
Scorching Dawn is a solid map, but we decided that it's layout and aesthetics were more of a 'learning map' than something we want to actively promote to tournaments and such.
Thanks. (I am on EU btw. And I often just go 'TPW' because they have a lot of great maps. But I also love the ESV maps, but it's hard to find them, if you can find them at all.)

Okay good to know. Right now we've got all of them + about 10 more on NA, so we'll make sure to get them on EU soon too.
And I would restate (just to be sure) to add the tag 'ESV' to them when you upload them. :p
But thanks for the trouble! Love the maps.
Edit: while I'm add it: would it be much trouble to add GTAI to your maps? I use it often for practice, but it would be fun to practice on the ESV maps.
We've been using ESV Sanshorn Mist AE and ESV Cloud Kingdom in the Playhem Daily map pool (mostly masters/gm/pros) for a few weeks now, if the ESV team would like a copy of the >3000 replays from Cloud Kingdom and roughly 200-300 from Sanshorn Mist for analysis or making balance improvements, feel free to send me a message here on TL.

Dream come trueeeeeee! Especially Korhal Compound. I play zerg and that map is much more zerg friendly than Cloud Kingdom, but I'll probably still play on Cloud Kingdom... maybe.

This is an awesome, huge, awesomely hugely awesome moment :D
Congrats to IronMan as well, Blizzard has mentioned, in their little writeup on the subject, that once Ohana is fixed up it'll be on the ladder as well, for another season probably.

Of course I am extremely happy for ESV team. But it's more than just that: all foreign mapmakers haven been give hope. The bar has been set (by ESV) and competition is high. It's just really cool no matter how you look at it.

Yes, it's god awful in SC2.
I think I could make a half decent version if I tried it again but I still don't think it would be anything too amazing at any rate...
12 base rotational 4 player maps are just so hard to do because right now the game hinges on having a close third but a long rush distance. Basically impossible in SC2.
If I keep adding ESV maps to my tournament map pool and Blizzard keeps adding them to the ladder it's going to look like I'm just copying the ladder map pool.
Is it the opinion of anyone in the team that it's a lot more difficult to make 4 player maps? It seems that positional imbalance in SC2 is so important that most 4 player maps might as well be 2 player maps because they're always forced cross spawn.

The general consensus is that it's harder to make a unique 4 player map than 2 player map. It's not impossible, but it's harder.
ESV discord is a great map ! Good job ! Discord is used by the ESL ( or zotac I can't remeber ) I so Millenium Dragon play a tournament game on it The game was short but very fun to watch !
Ooh, I like Afterglow and Spring looks good for mech.
p.s. What do you guys think of bright tilesets vs. dark ones? Some maps, while they might be great, are just dark and difficult to watch as a spectator. Then a bright map like Ohana comes up and I'm like "aahh!"

Is it possible to find out which? We had no idea somehow

Personally, I like maps to differ in their aesthetics. Often people think about a map in terms of the aesthetics- Shakuras is glaringly obvious because of its blue textures, Antiga is the dirt/space map, Daybreak is the metal space map, etc. Of course maps are most known for their layouts, but the aesthetic theme is associated with spectators too. In terms of dark and light tilesets, I like lighter ones because they're easy to watch, but darker are sometimes necessary for diversity (see Metropolis, Cloud Kingdom).
