Looking for maps for FFA or 2v2v2(v2) games

tgb 10 Posts April 19 2011 12:20 GMT #1 Above 4 players, Blizzards maps are made for either 3v3 or 4v4 combat, no other option. My friends and I like to play FFA games and 2v2v2 or 2v2v2v2 games, but the map support is lacking. No 8 player map is set up for an FFA game - always some bases are too close or too far or too easy access to island third. And if we only have 5, 6, or 7 players we are out of luck for having evenly distributed spawn locations. The situation is similar or worse for teams of 2 (though Tempest does okay with this). But perhaps there are already great maps for this lurking around out there waiting to be found. Any suggestions? Plugging your own map is fine by me. All I have found so far is this: (5) City of the Damned The only topic on this that I've found was very old and contained only one map suggestion which was pretty obviously exploitable (gold island expos for Terrans to lift off to).

If you have an idea for a fun 8 player map you can draw a sketch and post it in the concept thread.

tgb 10 Posts April 21 2011 14:13 GMT #3 Thanks for the suggestion. BGH sure brings back memories of my Warcraft 2 days, but I guess I'm looking more for 'standard' maps which have more typical resource styles to ladder maps. Any other map ideas would be excellent.

I made a 15 player FFA called Continent3 that is made for fun and utilizes extremely asymmetric terrain to create a different experience every time it is played. I did attempt to make it so that each spawn has its advantages and disadvantages. + Show Spoiler + I know it doesn't really match what you are looking for, but this could be played for a bit of fun if you and your friends can't find what you want.
