Nice to see the map getting constantly updated
Good work MavercK!

Another big difference between SC2 and BW is the unit collision size.
You should increase that in the map. That would also fix the marine vs muta issue and more like storm doing dmg to more units and other splash dmg issues.

Yeah, unit collision is quite important to simulate BW mechanics.

We should do some tests with this. Dunno if MavercK had this in mind.

Looks great but how do i import it.Its a 3DS file right.How do you import that within a mod.I dont even get how MavercK is doing what hes doing......


3DS file is 3d studio max
you need that. aswell as the exporter plugin that nintoxicated (i think is his name) made. which lets you export as a m3 which can then be imported to starcraft 2.


There is a m3 model already for download. It's in the link I posted (http://www.sc2mapster.com/assets/sentry-reaver-max/files/5-sentry-reaver-2-0-m3-model/).

There is also a .max file (not .3ds), but it is for anyone who wishes to edit it. (:

it's not the unit collison size. it's the fact that units can push one another while moving and also how they will avoid objects/units prior to running into them. as far as i know this stuff is very hard coded. i've been looking for a solution to this for awhile now.

I think you should simply leave it, BW wasn't perfect and there were tricks people had to learn as they played it, I think this mod will be the same way. I wouldn't try to change anything more than unit balancing and tech balancing as well as bugs.

Great job guys. I just played it and it was very very good.
I really enjoyed playing it especially with lurker harass.

However, I do missing the zerg flying caster unit (Queen).
I missed my BW Queens because I used them a lot against my terran buddies to instantly killed their tanks (Spawn Broodling). Is there any way that you could put BW Queen back into the game together with her spells?
Parasite is great to cast on their BCs or Carriers just to piss them off.
Ensnare is also great to instantly detect cloaked units when my OVs are far away.
I know BW Queen probably not used a lot by pros because of defilers Godly spells, but it's a nice addition to have mainly to blast off the tanks instantly.

Another missing ability from zerg is the the devourer's purple acid thing. I thought that I should mention it just in case no one mentioned it just yet.
It's another very useful ability that I want to use for fighting BCs and Carriers.
I know it's probably very hard to implement in SC2 because there's no ability like it at SC2

queen i will port over eventually.

devourers have their purple acid thing. it adds the buff in an area increasing damage taken by 1 for each stack and slows attack speed. should work exactly like it's BW version.

Well, now this comes to this question: is it intended to be a exact copy of BW without the facilities that came with this new engine, or is it intended to be BW with lasers - I mean: better pathing, rally points (drones will gather), lings acting like bugs..?

One thing that I personally disliked in BW was the Dragoon and Goliath pathing. That was horrible! Putting BW in a better pathing system was the main reason why I played and liked those maps.

I agree with you, goliaths and dragoons were so retarded lol . Getting them out of a choke was a real pain.

Btw, have you guys read the article about Blizzard "forcing" SC2 in e-sports over BW? I think maverck's bw-mod could probably get some popularity if we can announce it to kespa or something, like we said weeks ago. Well, I guess when chat rooms will be finally released it will be easier to get more and more people on a single channel and increases its popularity like this. Just my opinion.

i dont think would work. kespa wouldn't want to be affiliated with me. some random australian they dont know. if anything they would make their own.
(but i doubt this very much. dealing with starcraft 2 is even bigger ip rights issue that blizzard would never let go)

as for gaining interest in this i've been trying to link it to places. tournaments might be something i consider in the future. but again. i'd need good players to make it interesting and get people excited.
i feel like my struggle with this would be similar to iCCup trying to get their map pool used in tournaments. only 100x harder.

If you say that you tried, well I guess you're right (unfortunately) about kespa. But like you said, they would make their own, that's why yours could had given them a good start. I doubt someone else has a such advanced BW mod.

But yeah tournaments and trying to show it to good players could probably make it interesting.
If only someone knew how to get in contact with flash or jaedong haha .

Only time will tell.

a good way to promote this map would be to make full-game vods of great matches and post them on youtube (with commentary or not)

that could be the new pathing and AI, the marines do a batter arc around enemies than in bw and have smaller collision radius that may be some reasons why they seem stronger
