Once you're in the data editor, look for a field that says "textures - blend +". To the right of it you should see a list of textures (e.g., "Tyrador Marble Tiles|Tyrador Square bricks"). Click on the list and change out textures.

That only changes the tileset data itself, so you then have to go to map>map textures to actually set those as useable in the editor by swapping the textures out in the same way you did in the data editor.

You can use a trigger to set the rally point for a building. Order (Triggering Unit) to (Set Rally Point targeting Point X) (Replace Existing Orders). You need to look for Issue order targeting point.

Hey, for some reason my sc2 map editor isnt opening, i dont know why!

It keeps counting (in seconds) forever. What is happening?

I've managed to get all the textures I want but when I change to them it blends some and some ugly tileset comes out.

Two new questions:

EDIT: I just found the solution for my first question
[1.: How to combine Regions? Like for example: I have 3 Regions all over the map and they should be put togehter into one region to be used as a Trigger]



2.: What is the exact ability a building needs to build a Drone? For Probes or SCV's i had no problem but the larva thing with Drones somehow confuses me I never got it together in the right way.

I made a simple melee map from the default template, but when I run it the AI keeps sending its workers and overlords in roundabout ways as if exploring its own base, and also doesn't seem to recognize blocks on ramps. Do I need to set up additional AI info or something?

Also, will lack of space behind mineral patches lead to problems, apart from making certain kinds of harassment more difficult?

the A.I. is just not very smart, especially when it comes to rocks/alternative movement, you're better of with player testers.

Still, the AI shouldn't run around in quasi-random patterns. Even overlords just float around the starting base instead of scouting the opponent. That doesn't happen with other maps, so I must be doing something wrong.

Sorry for the noob question. How do you delete maps from Battlenet? I republished the exact same map with a different name because I lost my clan tag a long time ago. ExO Serenity > MMU Serenity.

I deleted ExO Serenity from my documents but it's still on battlenet.

Would love a response - Thank you.

Why do >95% of all maps only have diagonal ramps? Are there any issues with horizontal/vertical ramps?

Yes there is an issue with horizontal/vertical ramps.
You can't close them with 2 depots and one barrack, or at least you can't close it good with them.

But that's only a reason for making main ramps diagonal, and there are also maps that have wide main ramps like Scrap Station.

You still want to be able to wall off a ramp the "standard" way. Anything that confuses players is not a great map feature. In addition, north/south ramps in particular are considered hard to read visually. (also, in the past, there was actually no good way for a Zerg to wall off one of those ramps should they want to. With the spine crawler change its now less of an issue)

@TrumpetWilli - The train drone ability comes from a larva morph ability. It sounds like you want to be able to train drones in the same way a command center trains SCVs. To do that, you'll need to create a new train ability, which is not too hard if you basically look at either the Nexus or Command center, and copy the ability from there. You'll need to create the ability itself, and then grant the ability to the building you want to train drones, then create a button for the ability and add the ability to that building's Info:Abilities and add the button to its command card. I can go into more detail if you get stuck, but start by looking at train SCV or train marine for reference.

So, I'm looking to play around with an official ladder map to mod a few changes to units, just for fun.

But after looking for quite a bit, I can't find the location of the ladder maps, anywhere at all. Not even online. Can someone fill me in ?

Edit: actually I think I found out how to get to them with the map editor.

Tools -> Snap to Grid seems to have no effect; either way objects are snapped and textures aren't. I know Shift unsnaps objects, but how can I snap textures?

This is how you find any map that has been published. Though not all will allow you to open/edit them, the blizzard maps most certainly will.
