My thoughts on this :

Very cool opening. Loved it... funny how players are so often oblivious to "counter-proxy" they never even check just to be sure (it takes 1 probe 10 seconds ) because obviously it's the only way to counter attack them.

After fisheye broke out of the containment at main, he slacked severely on spending, but I guess he knew that he had map control and just wanted to get as many ultras as soona s possible.

About the ending: when I saw that fisheye's ground bases got comlpetely wiped out, I just coutned up the minerals he had on the islands. He took them with great timing (he waited until the end when the map was dry, and I'm fairly sure he did it on purpose). Though rS.Memory had a lot of minerals saved up and fisheye didn't, he was actually a lot richer. He had over 13 000 available minerals and potentiall unlimited gas, and the protoss had about 3000. So, though it may have looked pretty bad for Fisheye who lost all his tech and had no army, he was actually in a good position. I thought it was likely that he would win

However... If memory did not give up, it is not a fact that he would lose, I think. He had great army composition. If I'm not mistaken, he had 2 or 3 dark archons, some hjigh temlpars, and archons. Consider the amount of cannons he had, he had great chances to make the game a draw. Then it wuold be even more awesome. Queen is subject to feedback, muta/guard - to maelstrom. Ultras would be very expensive even with Fisheye's decent resources, and it would still be hard to take down memory's defenses all over the map, particularly at top left.

Note for discussion:
Bwchart puts down Fisheye with over 400 "null actions" in the game. That's the most I've seen in a replay in a while. I suppose its because he spams spawn command for units to get them as quickly as possible and squeeze the most from his macro at important times. Most players don't consider this millisecond difference important, but it can add up. Useful? Am I wrong?

MemOry did such a great job on everything, except checking islands. Too bad.

Fisheye did some mistakes, though.

And MemOry would certainly have lost, in the end. Queens, mutas, guards, etc.

Very entertaining replay, thanks.
whats the rumpling?

I was thinking the same, Fessor.

Anyway Fayth gave the game away - he didnt maelstrom at all with his first DA's when he could have beated everything Fish had at that point. Then he should have taken at least one other island for himself when the air was still clean - and last he didnt bring his DA/Archon/HT supported army to back his carriers in the end. Those muta would have died so bad had he done this.

Very entertaining game, tho. Counterproxy is so fun.

I would have payed good money to see this game in a korean pro-game tournament.... would have been so cool to hear the commentators and crowd go nuts over the counter-proxy.

this was a godly game. and fayth didn't have a chance at all at the end, he COULD potentially get a draw if he was really cost effective for a long time, but he wasn't capable of killing the zerg.

just two shuttles with 2 DA and 4 temps wouldve made him win the final battle though.. not to mention that he shouldve attacked right isle instead of the left.

but godly game anyway.

also if he woulda brought his templar forces over with the sairs / carriers he coulda retreated into them and got some nice mael / storm and archon action? I think leaving robbed us of an even greater rep!

Awesome game, dare I say the best I've watched this year. The maelstroming and feedback use in the second big clash was incredible.

Very good game, wow. I wish more top players took the ladder more seriously, and we'd probably have more games like this. But everyone wants to be a pussy about it, and not compete

Archons attack like probes under DS

I gotta agree with Hasuwar on this one. The lack of good and abundance of suck that people are putting forward on the ladder is disheartening.

erm, what? first of all fisheye played zerg, indicating that it wasn't taken particulary seriously.

then you have the build order both players utilized.. claiming that more serious gaming would produce more games like this is very wrong.

anyway, this also reaffirms my earlier stated opinion that plains to hill produces the best games out of any map in the world. =]

my tvp vs socke like two years ago isn't even the best game I've played here.. I have probably twice as many games on nostalgia or gaema as plains 2 hill, however if I had to pick my 5 best games ever on p2h, nostalgia and gaema, all 5 would be played on p2h.

and it manages to be balanced as well. hands down the #1 map ever imo.

archons only do the splash damage under the swarm (not sure if there have to be 2 enemy units, so the archon hits one for 0damage and the other with the splash, or both get hit with the splash)

well, probes always do 0damage under DS, archons do splash damage under DS (so they can kill lings etc but much slower, fighting ultras under DS is not a good idea)

Archons do like 5 damage vs ultra's under dark swarm so yes not a good idea. And no, there don't have to be 2 units present.. just like a siege tank, it will hit with splash damage to units under swarm.

sorry about leaving the game, u may ask fish, i asked him to leave the game cuz my gf had come, it was when we were like 30 minutes into the game, so i kinda slowed down and waited, he said "u're free to leave any time" i didn't bitch about it at all, i was pretty nice about it after actually, and i thought it was a fun game but yeah i shud have used arbiters. So all in all, i left cuz my gf was waiting there on my bed, she seemed so bored and so cute.. shit i'm in love

edit: i thought i had it won when he lost everything, until i noticed i had mined out everything but my island, and i'm not lying trek, just ask fred

Really really really good game.

The odds of a game going on to last 50 minutes after DOUBLE-PROXY and one player losing his main in 10 minutes without an active expansion, are so incredibly slim...

If you guys could've found a way to work that into a draw, it'd be the ultimate replay.

Did you even watch the replay ? Fisheye overwhelmed fayth with 50 mutas at the very end. No way Fayth could have won the game at the very end. In the beginning it was a pure art game, with fisheyes cool counter to the cannon rush of Fayth. Then it was a nice expoing on both sides and great battles. The island expos won fisheye the game. Both players were pretty good in this game and i dont think its fair to say, fisheye didnt deserve the win..

well i watched rep, i think i really shud have won during mostly all game until the end which i kinda gave up, he told me he had 20k minerals, so i was like, bah i'm nearly done, i won't be able to do shit vs 20k + 3 islands, seems like he had not 20k at all, anyway i don't blame him for that, still was en entertaining game

And what are those silly muttas gonna do against his 7 arch,1 dk, and some ht, and fayth still had about 4000/1500, enough to build up quite some nice corsair army, and get 2 in attack, and atleast get a draw, thx u!

edit: ok watched it again, he didnt have that much money left, fisheye had a quite some more, but I still belive fayth would gotten draw, considering fish would have to kill 1 million cannons aswell

If he brought the ground army with the sair carrier attack that muta rape wouldn't have been as one sided, but in my opinion the game ended when fayth gave up the right island with no resistance.

As much of a Fisheye fan that I am , I don't really think he deserved to win this game. His units were not at all organized; it's like he was looking somewhere else everytime he sent his units to battle. His micro was terrible; and that's not like him. There were several moments where a bunch of his units just ate it for no reason: I saw five gaurdians pick off two probes and then die to a couple archons without taking anything else with them. One of Fayth's pushes found a group of Fisheye's Hyrdras (12-14) and just sort of ran over them, with no response from the Fish. Albeit, Fisheye still had his usua massive map control, but I think this was an "off" game for him.
