Just pointing something :

TL posted this topic exactly when the EG timer ended.

So LOL at people saying "lulz EG hypes fuck them" when TL was also part of it

Honestly, as fans of eSports, we should be thrilled whenever a player gets paid a ton of money.

If EG can afford to pay HuK a huge chunk of change, that's fantastic. More dudes living the dream. Congratulations to him, and he should absolutely go for it.

Pathetic, what a sellout. Backstabs the team that raised him and sent him to Korea to train with MC. The "E-Sports" game isn't fun when EG just buys out everyone also. Ruining E-sports.

And after all, the concept of HuK, IdrA, and PuMa competing together in Korea should spark at least a little bit of intrigue in even the most ardent of EG anti-fans.

EG House in Korea finally coming to fruition? OMG. EG.

Does anyone here not follow other sports?

When a talented player's contract runs out, there's always a bidding war. 99% of the time they go to the team who's willing to pay them the most. Everyone involved understands a business and the fact that it's nothing personal. In fact, when your favorite team loses a star player, people are angry at the team for not paying them what they're worth, not the player.

If anything, people should be happy that esports has grown up enough that something like this can even happen. The fact that EG's willing to pay HuK enough money to make him not resign with Liquid means it's probably pretty significant, and I'm all for any SC2 player getting that kind of a significant salary. It doesn't matter what team they're on.

Way to go HuK for making a good decision as far as your own life is concerned. Fanboy backlash or not, financial security is damn important.

Way to go EG for pushing esports forward. The more you're willing to pay players, the more other teams will have to start paying their own players in order to keep them around. It's a good thing for everyone in the scene.

even with the speculation im still quite surprised by the announcement. can't say this is bad for the scene, but from the sounds of things liquid did not have the opportunity to raise their offer? sounds like it was a double blind offer instead of more of an auction. I think HuK would have gotten even more if it was an auction style and liquid may be more satisfied with the result that way.

From what I've heard the number huk is getting is supposedly 187,000$ for around a 1 year contract. I doubt liquid could come close to matching that if they wanted to.

I feel bad for Liquid to be honest.

HuK used to be so bad. I remember that before Dreamhack people felt he shouldn't even be in Code A. After he starts winning a little he ditches them even though they provided the practice environment he needed to improve.

That's exactly how I feel. What's worse is that practising with EG's players will probably bring HuK back to Code B level in half a year or so.

It was a brilliant ploy by the PR folks over at EG. They hype up the announcement to such a degree that people are actually underwhelmed by this and they slowly eased people into Huk - > EG, rofl, we're like sheep to them.

Grats on the team HuK,

this will make me cheer/like Liquid even more now.

Don't see what's all of this crying about. A player changing his team is a thing that happens all the time in every other sport. If EG decided to throw tons of cash at HuK let them, he deserved it with all the hard work and effort he's put in staring at a monitor 24/7 for the past year, and doing nothing else but living and breathing StarCraft. Liquid is gonna feel a bit of a loss by this, but it's not like they still don't have a great player roster that's kicking ass in all tournaments. And EG is also gonna get a good benefit from the transfer. At least now they'll have a second (third) player in their team that doesn't lose all of his games (I still love the guys I'm talking about) when they go to a major tourney. So in conclusion I gotta say to the HuK fans, cheer up he's just switching the shirt he's wearing and the guys he's practicing with, and maybe in the future when Liquid gets more money, they can probably sign him back under their banner. Expect a drop in wins ratio from Huk. Going from training in oGs house to EG house is a significant downgrade. Not looking good for Huk in term of practice quality...

except he is staying in korea and practicing with IdrA and Puma who are very good players.

Not to mention he will still probably practice with the oGs guys from time to time

I imagine he will keep his practice partners but you cant really say idra/puma are better than the OGS house =/

You could make the case that Puma is better then any terran in the oGs house.

Idra probably better then most zergs in the oGs house since zenio moved out.

His PvP might suffer but i would imagine he is still on good terms with MC and inca if he needs to practice PvP

what? 1 Puma, someone who failed to qualify for GSL is better than Nada, TOP, Ensnare, SuperNova and TheStC? All Code S regulars?

And IdrA's zerg knowledge won't really be as beneficial as he is losing TheWind as a coach.
