Tournament Roundup - Jul 15-31 2011
August 3rd, 2011 17:15 GMT
Results for July 15 – July 31, 2011
Greetings and welcome to International Tournament Roundup! Sick of wading through countless threads, posts, and articles looking for recent SC2 tournament results? The TeamLiquid International Tournament Roundup is the one-stop shop for all of your tournament result needs, and it's coming to you twice each and every month.
Don't be fooled, the GSL is great, but there's a massive amount of talent outside of Korea. Foreign juggernauts are battling it out in epic games, and in epic tournaments, on a daily basis. After all, our boys have more than proven that they can compete.
Who's the current top dog outside of Korea?
Please note that if an event is not listed, it is likely because it either didn't make the prizemoney cutoff, or results were simply not properly recorded in public view by tournament administration. Don't blame me, blame the event admins. I can't do their job for them. Thanks!

Total Prizemoney: ~$56,034 USD (+ Prizes!)
Top Dog There's a ton of powerhouses outside of Korea, but who's this edition's top dog? Let's take a look at which players have posted the most impressive results over the past 2 weeks.
Note: This isn't a simple prize-money or medals ranking. It is based upon a combination of overall player performance, quality of competition, significance of events won, money won, activity, and my most sincere attempt at unbiased subjectivity. It only considers performances in events which concluded within this period.
+ Show Spoiler [Honorable Mentions] +![[image loading]](http://www.teamliquid.net/tlpd/images/players/2171.jpg) ToD !! Warcraft III's premiere Human player has shown some good performances thus far in Starcraft 2, but this past couple weeks he managed to cement his stake in the scene by cleaning up ESL Pro Series France. Among the always impressive lineup of French monsters, he defeated the beastly Protoss Adelscott in the final. Additionally, he shut down the renowned Korean Alicia at MLG Anaheim. Twice. He defeated the Protoss 2-0, and later threw some extra dirt on his grave extending the series to 4-2 when they met later in the tournament. With showings like that, the world should really start to fear this guy's PvP. Total Prizewinnings: ~$3,577 USD ![[image loading]](http://www.teamliquid.net/tlpd/images/players/2169.jpg) SaSe !! While we're all excited to see this guy go to Korea (or at least you should be!), SaSe hasn't taken a break when it comes to tearing up tournaments. The now teamless powerhouse took home the gold in the hugely competitive Grubby Invitational event, as well as one of the newly established ESL XMG Cups. Total Prizewinnings: ~$815 USD ![[image loading]](http://www.teamliquid.net/tlpd/images/players/2071.jpg) dde !! I'll just come out and say it. dde is underrated. He's the guy you always see in the bracket and say to yourself "Oh wow dde knocked out _____, that's a surprise." Really, it's not so surprising to see anymore. He once again came out in force winning the Map of the Month event, a NeSE qualifier, a showmatch against CatZ, and most impressively placing second in the hugely competitive Shoutcraft 2 Invitational. Total Prizewinnings: ~$1,050 USD ![[image loading]](http://www.teamliquid.net/tlpd/images/players/1771.jpg) Nerchio !! Surprise surprise. Having essentially become the unofficial mascot of the tournament roundup, his performance this edition is as impressive as always. Nerchio qualified for the European Anniversary Party tournament via a cup win and then went on to take the whole event as well. He also won a XMG Cup, a Go4SC2 EU Cup, and came in second in the FinanceTesEtudes.com Tournament. He's got a new team, but he's still the same consistent beast. It's quite surprising to see such accomplishments here in the 'honorable mention' category, but there's been some really great performers this time around. Total Prizewinnings: ~$1,173 USD
Third + Show Spoiler [Third] +![[image loading]](http://www.teamliquid.net/tlpd/images/players/1221.jpg) GoOdy !! With an online cup prowess rivaled by few, the Panzer General powered through two 4pl.de Close Combat Cups, a European Anniversary Party qualification cup, and placed second in a Gigabyte Cup as well as a Ragequit.tv Cup. Lastly, he also placed second in a massively competitive Teamliquid Teamspeak Open. If this guy didn't play with such a slow methodical style, he might even be able to squeeze even more in! =P Total Prizewinnings: ~$647 USD
Runner-Up + Show Spoiler [Runner-Up] +![[image loading]](http://www.teamliquid.net/tlpd/images/players/1587.jpg) HasuObs !! The Mouzsports Protoss beast snatched a massive four-thousand Euro payday by claiming top spot in the ESL Torneo 'TES' event. He attempted to supplement this with a Zotac Cup win, but barely fell into the second slot. Additionally, he defeated the legendary ambitious Terran Warship Strelok in a showmatch event. HasuObs continues to prove that he's among the world's best Protosses. Total Prizewinnings: ~$5,866 USD

Great Job, this is quite nicely made. Go Germany eh !
Wow so many small tournaments with pretty impressive prize pools. You really can make a living off of weekly events.
Lots of high german finishes, nice. All though I died a little inside every time I saw strelok not finishing "top 1" (>,<; I know how dedicated he is and he deserves all the success that is undoubtably coming to him (gogo MLG Raleigh top 1

This is still the best news and one I always read end to end. Thank you!
I like how MLG gets all hyped up for 5k USD while europeans play in tournies with a larger prize or similar and barely gets coverage.
Love these things. I guess hasuobs and socke had a pretty good time in spain :D nerchio and goody are just sooo consistent in those weekly cups. really impressive.

This is probably the best feature on TL at the moment. Great stuff Mikilatov.
Great round up...
Damn I love HasuObs. He is never mentioned when mentioning good foreigner tosses like HuK, NaNiWa, SaSe, Socke etc. But he kicks ass
woot im the only player from NA on that list.
Those prizepools are getting quite juicy! Nice write-up.
good to see some protoss on the rise
Wow there are so many tournaments in Europe all the time. Its really developing into a sustainable scene there.
This Feature is really awsome! So much thanks for the work!
it never ceases to amaze me how you guys keep up with all these tournaments respect! Thank you once again TL <3
German domination in the top 3! Always nice to see Nerchio up there
great writeup. like everyone else, I love them. I'm looking forward to Goody claiming first spot when he wins ipl 2
also, as someone mentioned earlier, it's good to see some protoss up there.
lol I'm pretty sure those three are really only what Germany has to offer (except of course the huggable Christopher Semke (Mondragon))
Wow, didn't realize that koreans took like 13100 of the $14000 MLG prizepool.

Darkforce, Xlord, Rine, Insolence, Delphi, TLO aren't bad. Probably a couple others I've forgotten.
What ever happened to Infernal and Horror from BW, anyway? They seem to not have done much with SC2.

I'm fairly certain this roundup is my #1 love (don't tell my fiancee!)
So much going on and a lot of cash! Thanks for the round up Seems to be a ton of cash to win in Europe

Much of the MLG hype is due to the Korean players' participation and the size of the live audiences. It's not necessarily about the prize pool.
Man goody is probably one of the most consistant people ever.
Same with Socke really, can't wait to see more of them in tournaments.
having goody at MLG would be awesome too.
MLG has positioned itself as a industry convention rather than a typical LAN, where everyone go to network and gain exposure rather than in hope of making bank.
Just and FYI the prize pool For the City Hunter event was over $5000 with nGenMafia's Prize (a brand new PC, including Peripherals and a Monitor) worth over $3000!
50k +, that's so freaking awesome.

I believe Mikilatov only account for cash prizes, not total prize value.

Yeah unfortunately I can't really quantify all prizes, since normally the value isn't given, and if it is it's generally quite inflated. Additionally, quantifying cost of flights, etc. for qualification events is just not really fair or accurate.
