Results for May 16 – June 14, 2011

Due to some MLG scheduling conflict issues, this edition covers twice the time period of standard releases. This feature will be back on its normal biweekly schedule for next edition and onward.

Greetings and welcome to International Tournament Roundup! Sick of wading through countless threads, posts, and articles looking for recent SC2 tournament results? The TeamLiquid International Tournament Roundup is the one-stop shop for all of your tournament result needs, and it's coming to you twice each and every month.

Don't be fooled, the GSL is great, but there's a massive amount of talent outside of Korea. Foreign juggernauts are battling it out in epic games, and in epic tournaments, on a daily basis. After all, our boys have more than proven that they can compete.

Who's the current top dog outside of Korea?

Please note that if an event is not listed, it is likely because it either didn't make the prizemoney cutoff, or results were simply not properly recorded in public view by tournament administration. Don't blame me, blame the event admins. I can't do their job for them. Thanks!

Top Dog

There's a ton of powerhouses outside of Korea, but who's this edition's top dog? Let's take a look at which players have posted the most impressive results over the past month.

Note: This isn't a simple prize-money or medals ranking. It is based upon a combination of overall player performance, quality of competition, significance of events won, money won, activity, and my most sincere attempt at unbiased subjectivity. It only considers performances in events which concluded within this period.

+ Show Spoiler [Honorable Mentions] +
Due to the fact that this is a double-sized edition of the roundup during such a busy tournament season, there's a lot of players that have achieved a lot of success on varying stages. This edition, I will simply be listing many of these accomplished players, along with a single Top Dog. Don't fret, we'll be back to the standard format next edition!

1771. This number may not mean much to you, but I've recently realized that I've memorized it. I didn't try to memorize it, it just happened. 1771 is a TLPD ID number. I look at hundreds of these numbers every time I put the roundup together, but this one sticks out. In the past 4 roundups, this player has been honorably mentioned 3 times, and placed third once. He's always there, but never at the very top. This time, in his 5th consecutive appearance, he's jumped to the top.

This edition, the always-appearing 1771 showed up on top of yet another large tournament against scary opposition in the Dailymotion Cup. (Z)MorroW, the exceptionally talented top Zerg, fell to him 4-0 in the final. Soon after, this player took down (T)ThorZaIN, (P)White-Ra, and a Terran version of (T)MorroW, earning himself SHOUTcraft gold. If this wasn't enough, this player also smashed through two Zotac Cups, a Close Combat Cup, and placed 2nd in a Competo Cup all in this same period of time. If you still haven't checked him out, it's time you've learned the name of this edition's consistently beastly Top Dog: (Z)Nerchio!

Total Prizewinnings: ~$4,125+ USD

Medal Podium

Note: Only players with multiple non-showmatch podium appearances are included.

Such a pity nerchio won't be at dreamhack. A couple of excellent euro-zerg missing. Thanks for the round-up, it must be a huge effort!

In your paragraph about the Top Dog Nerchio you should change Morrow's race symbol to terran for the second meeting of theirs you mentioned (I think it is TB's cup you're referring to), as Morrow played TvZ in it.

I love these Mikilatov, you're a hero =)

This looks like it's missing the criminally under-reported Asus LAN (Asus spring?) at the end of May/start of June? Understandable though, the amount of information to actually make it to the English speaking community about it was ridiculously tiny TT

From what I know final placings were something like:

1st: Dimaga ~€1300
2nd: Happy ~€900
3rd: Bly ~€300
4th: Lowely
5-6: Kas/Strelok

The top dog this month made about the same as a GSL super tournament ro8 player (4 players make this much, 4 make much higher), or regular GSL ro4 (2 players make this much, 2 make much higher). Does not include flying/travel costs.

Not included due to prize amount cutoffs.

Thanks for the reminder, done.

You'rewelcome. =D Also, I had wind of this event, but struggled valiantly to locate solid results. If someone could find me a legitimate source of accurate podiumresults/dates/prizemoneydistribution, I'll gladly add it. Got it!

That's true, but Nerchio also wasn't the top earner. Several players made >$5,000 this edition. GSL isn't every month, either. But yes, GSL's prize pool is HUGE.

Wow, I never realized how pathetic MLG's prize pool was. For such a hyped tournament, the actual winnings are quite slim when compared to other surrounding tournies. Hopefully they get some more sponsors / MLG reallocates their prize money.

Yes 1 person made the same amount as 2 people made in korea and 2 other people made alot more :O
well for this super tournament its different actually, people in the round of 8 would have made about this much.

Honestly though if your in code s even if you get knocked out in the round of 32 your going to be making more in prize earnings then 99% of progamers out west, although 32 players is quite a small number in itself anyways.

Either way until NASL finals rolls around , the winner of GSL is always gonna be top dog, and considering its the super tournament this month and NASL shortly after, the winner of super tournament is still going to be the ultimate top dog

92k bro!, one of those 2 terrans is going to be a sick nerd baller lol. I dont even know who im cheering for, probably MMA XD

Yea the amount they get from open bracket fee's from players ( i think its like 70 dollars a player cant remember) covers the prize pool, but at the end of the year its a 50k prize pool :O

Congratulations for Nerchio! I hope he'll start attending LAN events soon.

Also, in the MLG Columbus section you should change Losira's race symbol to Zerg, now it's Terran ;]

Nerchio is a baller. Not only because he's the top dog, but because what he actually shows in game. I heard in his last interview that he's still not comfortable enough with his skill to go in lan, but I think he would do oh so well. By the way, I'm glad DH will have some new rising players like Empire.(T)Happy. Too bad he's in a hard group :o

And I agree about the MLG prizepool, it's too low (I know about the end of the year championship which has a GSL prizepool). But 5k$ for winner (=3500€) is still not enough imo, especially compared to halo or cod prizepools, not sure they bring the same amount of viewers/sponsors. (I know the prizepool/player is the same between games, but even so, 20k for halo and 5k for sc2 makes me sad)
