Cynical Brit presents a 1-day Invitational Live event

The Backstory :- About a month ago I started daily ladder livestreams with three goals. The first was to improve my game and learn more about it, while putting myself out in front of thousands to critique my play. The second, was to encourage those lower-level players with "stagefright", who were unwilling to ladder, to take the plunge and get started on the road to success, by showing them someone else who wasn't all that great at the game, but was willing to show people his flawed play anyway with no excuses and no bullshit. The third and perhaps most important, was to create a way to directly give back to the players that entertain us every week in various tournaments and showmatchs and help push the scene forward. This is why this tournament exists.

100% of ad revenue from the livestream goes directly back to the players in the form of a prizepool. In the month of May, the stream generated $1,500 in advertising revenue. As a result, the prizepool for this event is $1,500

When? - Sunday June 12th, beginning at

22:00 KST
15:00 CEST
09:00 EDT
06:00 PDT
14:00 BST

Where? - http://www.justin.tv/totalbiscuit with VoDs to be provided on http://www.youtube.com/totalhalibut. Both stream and VoDs will be in 720p.

Format - 8-man invitational event over the course of a single-day. Single elimination, Best of 5. Finals to be Best of 7 with 3rd and 4th place play-offs. Basically, it's the same as the Dreamhack Invitational.

Why this format? - Top players are already having to commit to very stressful play schedules with large tournament spanning now months in length. This small invitational gives a select group a chance to play for a relatively large prizepool for a 1-day event and not impact their busy schedules in the process. Bear in mind, I am aiming to host an event every month so this is a test of the format and is subject to change in future tournaments. I suppose you can call this our "Clash of the Titans" test-bed.

Will this be live? - The entire tournament will be streamed live, using Justin.tv's beta broadcast delay system to prevent ghosting.

Prize Distribution

1st - $800
2nd - $400
3rd - $200
4th - $100

Commentary - TotalBiscuit

I don't like your commentary - Some don't, that's fine. Pending the approval of all the players, all of the replays will be released freely to all commentators and spectators so that VoDs with different commentators can be created. It is likely that these replays will come out after the Dreamhack event a week later, due to the possibility of revealing new builds and strategies in too much detail.

How can I support this and future events? - These tournaments are entirely funded by ad revenue generated from my ladder stream, so just tuning into the ladder stream helps. Look for Shoutcraft under the featured stream list, I usually do a stream every day.

Who is playing? - I thought you'd never ask. I will be revealing one player every day in this thread and once the complete list of players has been announced, so will the brackets.

So without further ado...

Hell, it's about time! I hope TLO, IdrA and Spanishiwa are playing. 3 of my favourite players atm. Just be sure to host it on a weekend each month so I can watch them all :D.

They are aware of the invite list and will be given the brackets well before they are revealed publically.

Regardless of what anyone thinks about his commentary, TB is really great for the community; not many would sacrifice ad revenue to fund their own tournament. Can't wait to see the rest of the line-up, Thorzain is a great start!
